Scrap Happy Saturday. Last of Pink

 

My pink scraps are not gone. My plan was to make at least 4 of every color this year and more if  time and energy allowed. Early in the year I participate in Project Quilting and SAHRR(Stay At Home Round Robin)

Yesterday as I worked on my challenge for Project Quilting, I used my pink and neutral 2x3.5” rectangles as Leaders and Enders!  It worked. 

Four pink potato chip blocks. Slightly organized, not totally scrappy.

TO-DO Tuesday! July is Halfway Gone! #149

Last week:

July 11 - July 17

1. QOV binding.✅ 

2. Spool Quilt ✅ I brought out the box . I have both top and bottom borders to layout.This is the middle section of the top border.

A beginning = layout pieces, iron down. 

3.  Four blocks for BH Leader and Ender Challenge in Red✅. 

The specialty ruler came on Saturday. I studied and studied the directions. I tried both methods, the trim away and the oversized. And the way I would usually do sew and flip corner. All turned out mostly the same ! A bit off. So it’s got to be me. I even double checked my seam allowance. Sigh! 

I obviously used the wrong line marking the block in the upper left. The corner crosses into the neutral strip! Back to the drawing board!🙃 I just noticed that fact as I was typing. I wonder which way I did those!😜

4. Cut blocks from Patriotic panel for ABC Table Scraps Challenge ✅

As usual, all motifs from this panel are not exactly the same. There will be “fudging”! Now what will I do with these?

Next Week

July 18th - July 23rd

1. Get the rest of the top border for Spool Quilt ironed down.

2. Trace Step 1 for Tis the Season from Days Filled with Joy

3. Finish stitching One Kind Word. 

4. Work on figuring out how to use the Mini Simple Folded Corner Ruler.

ScrapHappy Saturday! 7-15-23

Not much red sewing this week!I did dig through the red scraps and the neutral scraps to make some very scrappy strip sets. These are waiting for neutral corner of 2 “ squares. Pinned in place, but not sewn or trimmed! I ordered a special ruler with the last of my birthday money! 🙂 Yes I could do them the old fashioned way, but I wanted to try Bonnie’s suggestion. It should be here Monday. 

Also my Rainbow UFO spreadsheet selected One Color string blocks 

These I did last week. So no more progress on that one.

And. Borders on my Spool quilt. 

Pieces and parts trying to find the perfect layout. It’s a bit intimidating. But I keep telling myself, that I’ve done two borders so I can surely do two more! I’m using an Edyta Sitar - Laundry Basket Quilts pattern from this book pictured. It’s called Friendship Strips and Scraps. 

In my defense, several one whole day and a couple of evenings were spent getting the binding done on this:

ScrapHappy Saturday! Not much Red progress……..

Has been made this week. I did finish my OMG for July, but will not show photos til closer to the end of July. 

Some red sewing happened, 

Only two! 

And then Bonnie Hunter posted the new Leaders and Enders block and down the rabbit hole I went. I’m trying to decide if they really need to be all scrappy or if I could do sets of four to make the flower like block in rainbow colors. I’ve got neutrals pressed and am digging through my red scraps to see what may be there.

We had a birthday party yesterday! 

There was a sort of Luau theme. Bright plates, colored glasses with striped straws and scratchy paper leis! You know the ones I mean. An Oreo ice cream cake was the object of her attention. 

And jumping on the new trampoline with her brother was the finale!

ScrapHappy Saturday ~ The End is Near!

I'm linking up with Angela at ScrapHappy Saturday.  Even though I was a slacker this week. 

Not a smidgen of green was sewn this week. In fact, unless you count the green apples in this stitch ⤵️

or the green mitten cuffs  in this one, there was no green. ⤴️

My zig zag rows are put away into a box. I may take them to a retreat next week. There should be a place to lay them all out, and plenty of opinions as to how they should be arranged! *smile*

My main focus has been on getting my Halloween stitch done and trying to sew some on the QOV Mystery at Alicia Quilts. 

60 Blue and White geese are done, some White and Red geese are next! 

Oh look, there was some green in my Leader and Ender, Triple Treat blocks.

To Do Tuesday. Setting Some New Goals

I’m joining Linda at Texas Quilt Gal and some friends to share my to-do list from last week. And then make a list for the upcoming week. Come see what everyone has been up to! 

Aug 23-Aug 29

1. Sew orange and neutral HSTs into a row and make a ScrapHappy Saturday post! 

Done! Post is here!

2. Make 4 orange string blocks.

There are FIVE!

3. Keep sewing on Triple Treat the Leaders and Enders project. 

I’ve mostly been sewing twosies of 1 colored 1.5” square and 1 neutral 1.5” square. They are then combined into a 4 patch that is 2.5”. Each Triple Treat takes 3 four patches. It’s a slow process.

4. Monday is my annual Medicare wellness exam! I hope I pass!

 Rescheduled by the clinic at 8:15 AM Monday.  I see an APRN, and one of her kiddos was sick. So now I have to wait til Sept 14th. 

Next Week

August 30 -  September 5

1. Sew light blue strings and crumb blocks

2. Keep stitching. Boo Crew!

3. Plan birthday party for great grandson! 9 is Huge!  

4. Decide on One Monthly Goal for September!

A Final Look at Purple!

Just a final look at some purple sewing for July! I’m sharing on ScrapHappy Saturday  ! Angela hosts this great party! It’s a favorite of mine!

Purple/neutral HST turned into zigzags! ⤵️

There was some purple sewn on the Triple Treat blocks, my current Leader and Enders project.⤵️

⤵️Two Ballerina Kittens got purple frames! 

And Jasmine and a Fairy Godmother ! 

There was the purple circle fiasco! ⬇️

And then there was this!  I didn’t make this! It came in the mail! A beautiful purple floral heart, a tiny pinwheel on that fabulous Tula Pink fabric I’ve been admiring on Diann’s blog! Bound in a great purple! The execution is perfection and the sentiment behind it is priceless! It was just what I needed this week! A lovely thank for a wonder clip cushion I sent to her.  Thank you Diann for your friendship.

TO DO Tuesday # 97

My short list was accomplished, just in the nick of time! I’m sharing over at Texas Quilt Gal! Thanks Linda for continuing to host this event! 

1. Purple HST ✅ 

2. Purple Happy Blocks. ✅ only 3 but there will be 5 

3. At least two Triple Treat blocks that are the current L&E block from Bonnie Hunter. ✅

These will be on going. They take some time. I don't love cutting tiny 1.5" squares for the 4-patches. 

My to-do list for the week of 7-19 to 7-26 is short also.  We have added going to Rec Center to our agenda. We walk in the Lazy River M.W. F.  

1. Sew the last two Happy Blocks that are cut.

2. Work on Table Scraps: purple circles, or dots or spots

3. Write an OMG finish post.

4. Clean off the cutting table, while continuing to cut part sfor Triple Threat.

RSC22 July. Purple post #1

Not very much was accomplished last week.  I did get 24 HST made.

 These will be the July purple zigzag row. I have to decide on a final arrangement, then number them. Otherwise I tend to sew the wrong sides together. It must be a bit of “cognitive decline” as my sister used to say!  :).    I’m missing her lots lately!

I’m also sewing tiny 1.5” square into four patches to make Bonnie Hunter’s Triple Threat blocks. I’m using them as Leaders and Enders. This is BH’s 11th free pattern for leader and enders!  I haven’t done them all, but I have done some. See her other ones in her free pattern tab at the top of her blog.
