Finished or Not Finished Friday ~ Sept 30

I finally have a real finish! This little baby quilt came back from the quilter and the binding is done! I will wait to put a label on until  I know this sweet girl’s name, and exact birthday. Some time near the end of October!

Two quick photos before it rains! Sprinkling as I snapped these!

I LIKE Thursday ~ Health and Beauty

No beauty products for me to recommend. I rarely wear any makeup. Lipstick, muted, occasionally.

Two product that are always in my house are Aquaphor, and Vick’s.
In the winter my hands get extra dry. My fingertips split. Aquaphor is my go-to remedy! Slather on, cover with white cotton gloves at bedtime.

Vicks is in my medicine cabinet at all times too! Chapped lips, stuffy nose, sore throat, cough, tiny paper cut. It fixes it all!  ps: It’s often referred to as “husband repellent “ at our house! Tongue in cheek!,

On to other likes this week.
Not too many!

I posted about my Table Scraps Challenge here.

I picked up Pop Star from my favorite quilter. It’s ready for binding! I think the quilting is lovely, don’t you?

I reorganized some baskets in my sewing room! Actually I emptied some!

A friend and I talked about “scarcity syndrome” as being very real. I find it so hard to let go of stuff, that most times I don’t. This week a box to donate to our Quilt Show’s Boutique! ( a nook at the venue that is packed with books, patterns, fabrics, all for sale)

So far, family in Florida are safe! I am concerned though!

To-Do Tuesday. #107

Linking up my to-do list with Linda @ Texas Quilt Gal and friends for To-Do Tuesday!
I had a short list this week. There was progress!

 9-20 - 9-27

✅1. Keep on trying to get that tub empty!!!

It’s EMPTY!
And all remaining bits and pieces are in bags/containers  by color.

A tallish box of whites and neutrals, a plastic tote with aquas and a plastic basket holding zip top bags  all sorted by color. Feels so much better.

✅ 2.  Cut the fabric for the QOV Mystery.

Some of the white is cut:  20 - 2 1/2" WOF strips
                                                 1 1/2"  WOF strips

I don't have enough left to cut  5-  4 1/2 " WOF strips. Back to JoAnns to see if they still have it!

WOF

All the red = 16 - 2.5” strips WOF and 2 - 4.5” WOF and
All the blue = 18 - 2.5” strips WOF have been cut

✅ 3. Keep stitching on Boo Crew.

I outlined the R and the E, then started in the left edge of the W with white. Filling in with the purple is then easier while watching  a movie.

✅ 4. Start looking at possible patterns for the charm pack I won!!

Some possibilities!

Next week:
September 27th - October 3rd.

1. Take quilt entries to the Quilt Show check-in site on Thursday or Friday.  Sit 2 hrs Saturday the 1st and Sunday the 2nd of October at our local Quilt Show. They needed volunteers to sit at the Opportunity Quilt ticket table.  ( that's Wyoming-ese for Raffle Quilt).

2. Keep stitching on Boo Crew!  I bought the mounting plaque recommended by the FQS so I’m ready to be done.

3. Sew some blue and white geese blocks for the QOV Mystery.

4. Bind Pop Star baby quilt!

September Table Scraps Challenge….Do pumpkins come in blue?

My Table Scraps Challenge project was a thinking project for awhile.  I thought about Blue Pumpkins and kept thinking of Cheree's of The Morning Latte. Her recent quilt, Once in a Blue Pumpkin is spectacular. But this is a table scraps project and not an entire quilt.

I searched pumpkins on the internet and there are lots of ideas. 'Tis the season, you know.

I finally settled on this idea from Lori Kennedy Quilt.  Now her cute little orange pumpkins are adorable. I needed a blue pumpkin!

Mine involved some light blue 4" squares, some crumbs cut to 4" squares for the bottom, some flax seed for weight, some fiberfill, some blue perle cotton , some doll making needles , a scrap of green wool and a piece of a willow branch from our yard.

I "free motion" stitched some leaf shapes onto the green wool then trimmed the shapes. Not nearly as pretty as Lori Kennedy's but OK from a distance. I tacked the leaves down and hot glued the little branch piece to the center of the “blue-pumpkin”.  I didn’t think it looked finished, so some twine finished it up!

There you have it! Blue scraps, a scrape of green wool, a scrap of a willow twig and a scrap of twine!
All from my cupboards except for the twig, which was in the yard!

I’m linking up with The Joyful Quilter . Using the color of the month from the Rainbow Scrap Challenge and the prompt from Table Scraps Challenge, I now have a cute and useful pincushion. He’ll look pretty good sitting in out R,W,and B family room!

Also linking this Blue Pumpkin with Angela at ScapHappy Saturday.
Wishing her and family Godspeed as they head into a weekend of storm watch.

And I'm excited to add this to Whoop Whoop Friday!  Welcome Back, Sarah!!!

I LIKE Thursday~~ Movies and a birthday!

Good Morning! It’s I LIKE Thursday.!  Ready to share some likes, some gratitude? Hop on over to LeeAnna's blog, Not Afraid of Color and check it out!

This week, LeeAnna gave us this prompt.   Is there a movie you watch over and over?

Nope!  I almost never watch a movie a second time.  One exception is THE POLAR EXPRESS

and maybe , just maybe. Sleepless in Seattle.

POLAR EXPRESS cause I'm a Christmas freek!  And a long time Tom Hanks fan. I love the animation in this movie and the story line. I watch every year if I can.

Sleepless in Seattle :  because Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan are so cute together. I haven't seen this one in a very long time. I haven’t looked for it, usually I don’t have the TV all to myself, so I don’t choose.

Other likes.

Mr Busy had a birthday.

He had a birthday donut,

then a visit from the great grandkids and our granddaughter, and birthday pie,

a phone call from our son and a dinner out at Ruby Tuesday's.

Monday, I received the Giveaway I won from Linda during her blog hop drawing.

The prizes were in a lovely gift bag!

Then I had to slip the charms out of their packaging and pet them a bit! Such cute prints and soft colors.
Thank you again, Linda and Melva and Brenda for the fun Blog Hop in celebration of National Sewing Month. And to the sponsors /partners for the wonderful giveaway gifts.

And Linda sent this cute Fall Pickup paper with a sweet handwritten note inside!

I’ll be happily stitching on BOO CREW today with treasured friends. We are meeting in a different place this day. The library didn’t have a room available, then Monday they had a water line break and as of  Wednesday were still closed for cleanup! Yikes! I hope too many books weren’t damaged! ☹️😟
I ❤️ MY LIBRARY!

To Do Tuesday! Mid September!

I'm joining Linda at Texas Quilt Gal and some other hearty bloggers to commit to a to-do list and be accountable. Are you with me?

And if you read Linda's post this morning, you will already know that I was a winner during her stop on the Get On Board Blog Hop.  My package arrived yesterday. Such fun packaging. At the top of the box was  a sweet note
Aren't the truck and pumpkins the cutest?

and a decorated bag, for packaging. I didn't get a photo, is was snatched up by our daughter and immediately became inspiration for her  Soul Collage  cards.

The charm pack and the pins in a pretty gift bag.

Then I had to slip the charms out of their packaging and pet them a bit!  Such cute prints and soft colors.

Now on to business!!

Last week I had 5 things on my list!  And guess what?  I did NOT get all of them done!

Last week.  9-12  to  9-19

✅ 1. Make as many string blocks as possible: the end of the month is in sight!  I need at least 48.

There are 37 here.  If you are following my  OMG Progress post, you probably noticed that I got a bit ahead of myself.  I had 19 string blocks completed before this batch. But only 4 of them were string blocks with a cream center diagonal. So now I have 41 blocks toward this particular quilt. I need 48 for a 6X8 setting and would kind of like to have 7 X 9, so need 63 to make that happen. I'm not sure I have enough of the cream fabric. I have cut it all, so I will make blocks til I run out of that.

✅ 2. Actually start on a Table Scraps project.

This is all you get to see.......it's started!

✅ 3. Keep stitching Boo Crew!

Last week I was working on the second O (the witch's caldron). Now the C is done and the R is outlined!

✅ 4. Get binding ready for PopStar.....the quilter will take it , Thursday, the 22nd.

It's ready and Marva will take the baby quilt this Thursday and get it quilted for me.

X  5.  Begin cutting fabric for Alycia's QOV Mystery.    Does getting the fabric to the cutting table and measuring the piece of white from your stash count???  Not really!

I did not have the companion angle ruler and decided this was a good excuse to add it to my supplies!

Next week.  9-20 - 9-27

1. Keep on trying to get that tub empty!!!
2.  Cut the fabric for the QOV Mystery
3. Keep stitching on Boo Crew.

Some blue …mostly fall!

My sky this morning isn’t as pretty as Angela’s, but it is not smoky this morning! I’m linking up with ScrapHappy Saturday and all the other RSC22 participants!

I’m still sewing out of the gray tote.

Mostly darks and fall colors, but if you look closely, there is some blue!

And there are a few blue crumb blocks “under construction” in honor of this month’s color. The other bits, discovered in the donation scraps tote, are in the “crumb-blocks-to-be” bins!,

I LIKE Thursday . . . Non Quilting Crafts

Happy Thursday Morning to all!!

Sharing again from Sweatpants and Coffee. It showed up on my Facebook Memories yesterday. I figured it was a sign and I needed to share it again!

LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color hosts this fun place to talk about some of our likes, things we are thankful for, and feelings of gratitude. This month she has provided some prompts to get our brains and hearts working. :)

This week she suggests crafting supplies that aren't quilting based.

I happened on Fat Quarter Shops Cross Stitch patterns this year. I have purchased one piece of fabric and a selection of floss colors to go with the project.  I used to do lots of Counted Cross Stitch. Then a friend introduced me to a Quilt Shop and a class!

I have tons of floss, needles, hoops and all the stuff needed.

I don't paint, or draw, or make cards or scrapbooks. I do like bullet journaling, but I'm bad at it. I have pens, stickers, stencils, washi tape, rulers etc. I'm not much good at "just wingin' it". I need structure.
ie directions!

Other LIKES for the week:

Good Food:

Spinach Chicken Casserole with Mozzarella!

It was a hit.   See, Joyful, I'm using my last year's pink YUM table mat!!  It just fits my Pyrex baking pan.

We are watching The Offer on Paramount+.  It’s billed as a drama miniseries.  Miles Teller plays the part of Al Ruddy the Canadian-American producer of The Godfather and Million Dollar Baby. Both Academy Award winners for him.

We watch it at the same time as our son in California. We place a phone call and put the speaker on. He and our daughter are very good at syncing the shows, so we can have dialogue about it, just like he was here! Lots of fun!

I’m also reading Sister Stardust  by Jane Green. So far I like it!

I finished Faithful  by Alice Hoffman. It did not disappoint. After a slow sad emotional start there was a great story.

Speaking of slow starts…..this was Wordle on Wednesday!
