I LIKE Thursday #279

I like seeing these gratitude reminders from Nanea @ Sweatpants and Coffee! And I like sharing them with you!

Sometimes Emily sleeps with her head hanging out of her bed.

Sometimes she takes Mr. Busy for a walk.

As I write this list Wednesday evening, she is sleeping in her bed. Mr. Busy will turn on the Alexa to play Willie Nelson when we go to bed. Slowly there is progress in the “potty training “ arena. I’ve ordered a bell to hang by the back door so she can make her needs known to us. Fingers crossed.

I’m not accomplishing much in the sewing room or the kitchen. I’ll show my first orange block on Saturday over at Angela’s Scrap Happy Saturday.

Some stitching was done in the evenings.

I’ll stitch more today at Thursday Stitching.

I friend shared  this metal wall art from Hobby Lobby. Just in case , I want to decorate with a theme.

IYKYK!

Don’t forget Remarkably Bright Creatures airs on May 8th on Netflix.

Joining LeeAnna and friends at Not Afraid of Color

a bonus question, what would you like for mothers day if price were no object  (dream big) I would like to take both our kids and us on a grown up’s holiday. Maybe to Hawaii or Ireland.

again the prompts are

may 7 2026

did you ever where gogo boots?  NO! I wanted them, but I was a newly wed and had no discretionary money for silly things. Platform shoes? Yes. sandals. And I fell off them and fractured my ankle!  earth shoes?   It was the 70’s I had a pair of sandals I wore til they came apart. Mostly we were buying shoes for growing kids and work boots for Dad.   Not shoes for the Mom.

I LIKE Thursday #270

Shared from Tiny Buddha!

I didn’t post last week. So I’m answering both questions this week.

Feb 19 2026

what was your favorite subject in school... elementary, high school, or college... or did your favorite subject change over time? what was the teacher like? do you still have an interest in that subject?

I liked school! I liked English mostly. Elementary, I’m sure it was reading, High School it was English. I was in Advanced Placement English and Math. But dropped the AP math my senior year. I didn’t go to college but took some adult education Bookkeeping courses.

Feb 26 2026

what is the most adventurous thing you've ever done?

It’s a tie between snorkeling in the Caribbean and taking a motorcycle trip from Wyoming, ferrying across Lake Michigan on to Niagara Falls, back to Indiana to a Gold Wing Rally then home to Wyoming.

Neither one very adventurous!

This week’s likes were sort of fun. My birthday was Monday. I received two handmade cards from 2 friends.

Mr Busy bought me flowers!  These are my favorite. Lilacs, purple, and no scent because they are paper.

I received this gorgeous bouquet from my local granddaughter and her family.

We had some warmer temperatures this week, but there was some wind. Sun and wind takes the snow away. And along with it the icy roads and walkways.

Just tiny bits of snow left.

This week I’m working on my Stay At Home Round Robin. Photos this weekend.

Reading a new book!  For my F2F Book Club.

I’m just getting started. I think it’s predictable….we will see!

Tuesday night we decided not to watch the State of the Union Address. Instead we watched Song Sung Blue on Peacock. Starring Hugh Jack and Kate Hudson. It has been years since I cried watching a movie. This one brought tears.

I LIKE Thursday #267

This isn’t exactly a LIKE cartoon, but it’s how I think a lot of us are feeling. You?

Join LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color and see what others are sharing.

LeeAnna suggested this conversation starter …… Do you like puzzles? what kind? jigsaw, things like rubiks cube or slide puzzles, written ones like crossword or sudoku ?

We do like puzzles in our house. I’m partial to word puzzles like Wordle,

Wordle 1,684 4/6

🟨⬜⬜⬜🟨. Raise. The R and the E are in the puzzle , but in the wrong place
⬜⬜🟩⬜⬜. Could. The U is in the puzzle and it’s in the correct spot.
⬜🟨🟩🟩🟨.  Bluer. B is not in the puzzle. New letter L but it’s in the wrong
place. U and E are placed correctly .
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 . CRUEL.  Is correct.

and Daily Crosswords, but Mr Busy and I both play Sudoku.  My iPad wouldn’t let me share my morning puzzle!  😧

He plays Expert levels, I just stick with the daily ones  and once in a while a Hard one.

I like the idea of Jigsaw puzzles but Mr Busy really likes them. He finished this one  a week ago

And now is working on this one.

Do you see his setup? A large board, blue plastic sorters, a ruler to make sure it starts out the correct size, and magnifying lights. He is a serious puzzler!.

We have been trying to find something to watch in the evenings. We tried Star Trek: Starfleet Academy

It was alright! We will watch the next episode and then decide.

and then A Million Ways to Die in the West.
NO NO DON’T BOTHER!!

It stars Seth McFarlane, Charlize Theron. Liam Neeson, and Amanda Seyfried. Stupid, dumb and definitely rated “R”.

I’m still getting acquainted with my air fryer. Tuesday night, I  quick fried split chicken breasts, did sweet potato fries in the air fryer and served a cabbage and kale and tomato salad. It was pretty good.

I LIKE Thursday 1-2-25

I hope the coming year will bring you blessings and gratitude.

We’ve been putting a puzzle together during our stay here in California. Actually 3 puzzles!   And the WE might be a little exaggerated. Mostly Mr Busy

First was one we sent from home with our winter boots and coats!

The second is one that our daughter sent a few years ago when we were here. We had assembled it before but enjoyed doing it again.

The third has been the most difficult. It was a gift from a friend of our son’s.

We made a second batch of Chex Mix! This one was better. Increased the butter and the garlic powder.

I also baked a pumpkin pie

Can you guess what I might have added to it?

2 Tablespoons of bourbon.

New Year’s Eve we went to a Birthday Party/ New Years Eve party, the theme was RatPack. We had a lovely time

A beautiful buffet table.
The birthday princess and her prince!

I’ve started reading The Secret War of Julia Child. It’s good so far, but I’ve just started. Diane Chamberlain is an author I have read in the past, so I’m hopeful.

Tuesday afternoon we watched The Six Triple Eight! I recommend it! It’s on Netflix.

Wishing all a Wonderful NewYear.!!!

ps: I posted this earlier then unpublished it because I was on the wrong day!🤪

I LIKE Thursday

I needed this reminder today! I can only control my emotions and my response to triggers!  I’ll join LeeAnna and others to share the little things. The little things I’m grateful for.

I sewed some this week.  I finished 3 zipper blocks.

And three trial block of BH Square Peg. This block is not for me! I have some pieces cut, so I’ll sew til those are gone , then into the orphan block box they go!

And this greeted me this morning! Not exactly a “like”, but it is fun discovering the pretty darks hidden away in my scrap basket.

In between I stitched scraps into crumb blocks.

I worked a Wordle every day. Wednesday was a head scratcher!

Wordle 1,124 6/6

⬜⬜🟩⬜🟩
⬜⬜🟩⬜🟩
🟨⬜🟩⬜🟩
⬜⬜🟩🟩🟩
🟨⬜🟩🟩🟩
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Holey Moley! I almost blew it! 🤬

We lit the deck fire table ! It was a beautiful evening, the only thing missing was a glass of wine. I was not prepared. 😉🍷

We watched a good movie on  Netflix.

have you ever gone to an outdoor play? tell us about it.... Or a concert? do you like outdoor performances?

My favorite recollection was seeing the outdoor production of The Passion Play with Josef Meier in Spearfish South Dakota. That was a long time ago and Mr Meier is deceased. But it was very impressive. The real people, the outdoor venue. I hadn’t been exposed to much theater!

Because we lived in the Black Hills of South Dakota and much family visited. We attended The Passion Play every year. Below is a link to an article if you are interested.

Article from the South Dakota Magazine

The closest I’ve come to an outdoor concert was “Concerts in the Park”. Local talent in our City Park on Summer Thursdays. Families and couples on blankets or lawn chairs on the grass. Very enjoyable. I’d love to go again, but Mr Busy is a curmudgeon about all the people and I’m unsteady on my feet lately, so that’s out!

I LIKE Thursday

I’d already saved this cute meme from Sweatpants and Coffee, before I read LeeAnna prompt for today!

Guess great minds think alike .

From LeeAnna:

when you have free time, do you feel the need to  constantly "DO"  something? Is rest considered wasting time? How do you spend some free time and how would you like to spend free time .

I do have a bit of that need to DO something. But I try to take time for some self care. That’s usually a book, printed or e-book, and a drink. Tea or coffee, lemonade or maybe a Moscow Mule or maybe a Mojito!

The only thing that would make that better would be if it happened on a white sand beach.

Other Stuff:

It’s Spring! Guess how I know?

Beyond the tree line, is McNanneman Lake. The geese are here year round.

I count 4 adult geese and at least 20 goslings!

More wildlife. This spider on the front porch railing. As I bent over to take his picture, he jumped to the nearby baluster! Needless to say , I screamed. I’m not usually afraid of spiders, but he was about the size of my thumbnail and he/she startled me.

I found this on Facebook! I thought it was worth sharing.

We watch this on Netflix recently. I recommend it.

And Tuesday night started this series . On Netflix also!

It stars Matt Bomer ( oh my, is he pretty!) 🤩and Tim DeKay.  It ran for 6 seasons from 2009 to 2014!

You might remember Matt from Magic Mike . He also starred in All my Children . I’ll close with the following!

It may look like I'm doing nothing, but in my head I'm quite busy!

I Like Thursday

I started last week to just take some photos of stuff I like!

I like the fabric here⤴️ It’s got glitter too!

I wanted to try the big heart block, a red was on the cutting table.

Movies:

Killers of the Flower Moon with Robert DeNiro, Leonardo DiCaprio and Lily Gladstone. Good story but very sad and unforgettable!

We also watched Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte. I may have already mentioned those. But we liked them both. Mr Busy is watching Masters of the Air without me. I’m sure the story is s good one, but I can’t watch WWII!

And this week we are enjoying the Prime Time programs on CBS! We can watch CBS live with our Paramount Plus subscription. So NCIS and the FBIs on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesdays and Thursdays we will look to the streaming services for something else.

Sunday, Mr Busy retuned his book to the library. They were closed, bot they have a drop Bo’s at the building. While he walked up there, I took a photo of one of the statues on the library steps. Not as impressive as the lions at the New York Public Library. But I like our little owl!

We made French toast for breakfast. And opened the bottle of real maple syrup that was a gift from our granddaughter and her fiancé! It was soooooo good!

LeeAnna’s prompt for today!

who is your favorite TV or movie fictional couple? Why do you like them? if not a tv/movie fan, what about books?

My first thought was to go back awhile to Rob and Laura from “ The Dick Van Dyke Show”!  But more recently I enjoyed watching Jack and Rebecca Pearson and Randall and Beth on “This Is Us”? I think I like them, because their characters were loving, able to be truthful to each other. I understand the dialogue was written for them, but they were believable to me. I like many couples on movies and on TV. I just finished reading Great Circle by Maggie Shipstead. I did not like any of the couples in that story!  It wasn’t a love story about couples!

Oh, one last like before I go. Shamrock Shakes are back at McDonald’s! Our McDonald’s hasn’t had shakes for months! I was glad to have a chance to have one!

Stay Busy and Stay Happy and Healthy and Hopeful!
