I LIKE THURSDAY #25

 I LIKE THURSDAY

This is the last Thursday of 2020! It has been a strange year, that’s for sure! But in our world, not huge problems! We are retired, so our lives didn’t really change. We didn’t lose jobs! We already stayed home a lot!

I learned how to do curbside pickup at the grocery store! Three of our 4 grocery stores offered it!

I learned how to source out TP and anti bacterial cleaners and hand sanitizer!  Luckily I'm a bit of a hoarder, so I had backup in the pantry! And our RN daughter, warned us to get 45 days of supplies in house.

Thanks to the online quilting community, I learned to make face masks!

And then because my local quilting community could not meet I found this Fabulous Online Community of Friends. Some I knew before 2020!

From Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2020, developed a scrap basket challenge,

that has now brought a new challenge for 2021....Table Scraps Challenge! Hosted by The Joyful Quilter.

Some were new friends!

I Like Thursdays at Not Afraid of Color

I like that we were able to travel to California in November to be with our son for the holidays. We have had a wonderful visit. It will be hard to leave him. I do miss my sewing machine. And I have lots of projects that need to be finished. We have baked and cooked.

Christmas Eve chili with cranberry salad.

Two pumpkin pies because pie shells come in twos and a large can of pumpkin makes 2 pies.

Homemade Taco Pizza, because it a favorite from his teenage years and we could!

We have enjoyed his view

And his kitty, Phoenix!
Cutting a real Christmas tree

Mr Busy and DS, worked together on building a bench for his foyer.

We started a puzzle, a gift from our daughter to us!

We will try to get steak and lobster and a good wine for New Year's Eve !   And we will celebrate !

Until next year!

To-Do Tuesday and Link Up #21

I'm linking up with To Do Tuesday. I do like seeing what others are doing, and Roseanne and Sue at Home Sewn By Us, give us this great place to do that!

To-Do List: December 22-December 27

1. Make at least 10 hexagons for Christmas themed table topper

10 hexies are done and the OMG post is linked up.

2.  Do some stitching on the cross stitch Santa

Before:

You may not be able to tell that some stitching was done, cross stitch is like that!  But this is after:

You may notice a few more red spots on Santa’s apron, more black where one boot will be, a fourth green triangle shape that will be a tree and a bit of brown tree trunks! Do you need a magnifying glass? *grin*

3. Enjoy Christmas Day Zoom with family. Done!  Although, I have no photo, because the party was on our son's laptop.

Next Week's List:  December 28- January 3, 2021

1. Celebrate the New Year!

2. Get a new page on my blog for 2021!  I wasn't successful at 2020!

Until next year....Stay Busy and Stay Happy and Healthy

Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2020 Round Up

Angela at So Scrappy and hostess of Rainbow Scrap Challenge has suggested a round up of our completed quilts/projects.

This year I started out making Hollow 9 Patches in the monthly color and Geese Migration blocks. I am away from home, or I would do a design wall presentation. Instead you'll have to suffer the photos from my camera roll!

January's light or bright green.

Feb -  Orange

March - Teal and Aqua Blue- Green

April - Light and bright blue

And then in May, there was a Scrap Basket that developed into a challenge with Joyful at The Joyful Quilter.

I began with dark green and then went back and caught up with the previous colors. My shelves begin to look quite colorful!

Soon there was

Red

And Dark Red

And yellow

And I’ve finished with these two!

I need to make several more Geese Migration blocks and decide on a background color. I haven’t shopped for quite awhile and it will be online I am sure. There aren’t enough hollow nine patches to make a quilt, so I will continue with those in the new year!

I'll be joining the RSC21 group.....see you there~

December OMG Finish Link Up

Because I am away from my machine for the whole of December, my OMG must be handwork.. I have finished the embroidery for the Christmas designs for a table topper.

I need to make the coordinating hexies.  I need 16 fabric hexies.  My goal is to get 10 done.  That is one more than half. There are 19 hexies in total.

12-24-20

Ten fabric hexies and 3 embroidered hexies are done. Only the row that is Teal, green polka dots, embroidered star and teal plaid are joined together. But they are getting there. Six more hexies will be needed to complete the table topper.

It will look sort of like this, only Christmas fabrics. I'll post a photo on my blog when it is completely finished and  we are back home.

I LIKE THURSDAY #24

I LIKE THURSDAY ❤️❤️❤️🌲🌲

Happy Christmas Eve Day! This is my 24th  I Like post. Nearly half a year!  Thank you LeeAnna for continuing to give us a place to post happy positive things! It helps me each week to know that you are all counting on reading some “good stuff”, so I look extra hard to find something!

I Like Socks. Holiday socks especially!

These are favorites. I especially like fuzzy socks!

I like this view! I never tire  of it.

Even if it looks like this! This was the 21st. No chance of seeing the “Christmas Star”, but it happened anyway!

I  am especially pleased that two of my granddaughters are making our Family Cranberry Salad. This is our first Christmas  all separated!

I’ve made this salad every Christmas that we have been married. 56 years! It was from my MIL, she had made it several years before I joined the family!

It’s very forgiving. I use red seedless grapes and do not add nuts. My MIL used ground walnuts. Whipping cream must be used, Cool Whip doesn’t work. And the container is not important. We use a 9x13 pan and cut it into squares. One granddaughter is allergic to dairy and in the past, I made her a special serving without the whipped cream and made in a special jello mold!

I’m so grateful that this year we were able to travel safely before Thanksgiving to spend several weeks with our son. We are enjoying our time here. This is especially good for Mr. Busy!  He is able to help chop wood, and help build a bench to go in DS’s front entry.

Happy Holidays, wherever you are!

To -Do Tuesday and Link Up #20

Last week’s list included, working on hexagons and putting a cross stitched design into a little gold frame!

Row 2 is nearly done. Only the aqua and gold plaid hexie to add. I pulled more green charms to make 2 more to replace the “too light” ones from my prior layout!

And this cute little PEACE dove is already on the tree! I’ve had the bird shaped frame for years! I wonder if they are still available!

This week, December 22- December 27

 1. Get enough hexies made to equal 10!  That is my OMG goal for December!

2. Do some stitching on the Santa cross stitch project! Just keep stitching, stitching!

I’m linking up at Home Sewn by Us. Go check out some other to-do lists! Most are way more fun than mine!
