Finished or Not Finished Friday. 3-31-23

This month our prompts from Joy for Table Scraps Challenged were Green+the letters B and U

Well.....

Green was easy! I have lots of green inspiration.

I had hoped to cut some triangle for HST on my new Go Big Cutter. If you read my blog you know about that debacle already. Hopefully by the first of April I will have a replacement in my sewing area.

I thought to cut some green fabric received from Pretti as a prize a few years ago. Yes, years! Cause I wanted to save it for the perfect project. It was on the die cutter, but no triangles. In frustration, I cut with a rotary cutter and ruler and sewed two churn dash blocks

and then two crumb blocks cause there wasn't enough of the chili pepper fabric for more churn dashes.

A backing was chosen. Batting was constructed and some wavy quilting lines happened.

The bright green binding was the perfect compliment to the front and the back.

All ready for Cinco de Mayo! A margarita and some guacamole......

It's GREEN! It's BOLD and BRIGHT and it's certainly not UNDERSTATED. But it might be UGLY to some. I have a friend who hates crumb blocks. But it's done, and I will use it if May and spring flowers ever get here!!

A few other projects were moved forward, 2 flimsies and backing and batting are at the long armer! She will have one done by the end of May! And Long May She Wave is headed toward the finish line. My other longarmer friend will be able to quilt it when she gets back from Cozumel! So I need to get the horizontal sashings on and the blue borders.

I'm linking up with Alycia for Finished or Not Finished Friday because this little topper is a finish after all!

I LIKE Thursday. ~ Special Easter Food?

I LIKE Thursday But I don’t like Peeps!

Oh boy!  I'm a slacker at this one. Not a single special Easter bread, dessert or food. We usually have ham but not specially prepared.  Other foods are just whatever. This year we are celebrating early. Our daughter is coming home this weekend to pick up her kitty. We've been cat sitting since she moved to Colorado.  Mr Busy will miss him a lot. King loves “Pa".

Anyway our granddaughter and her family will join us here at our house. Ham, scalloped potatoes, jello salad, green salad and Birthday Cake. Our grandson-in-law has a birthday on the 3rd. He likes angel food cake!  Just plain! 😯.  I'll have strawberries and cool whip for the rest of us. πŸ˜€

Food.

we've done :

spaghetti, salad and garlic bread and wine
chicken fajitas at Frida's House in Gillette πŸ˜‹
fish and chips  take-out
tacos with all the extras at homeπŸ˜‹

I'm still reading Watership Down.

We've finished watching Suits. And now we are back to watching our regular programs, NCIS, NCIS: Hawaii, Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., S.W.A.T., Blue Bloods.

Tuesday night we started a new series on Netflix. The Night Agent!

Gabriel Basso is a cutie. It’s pretty intense , but I think it will be good.

And we are ready to start season three of Ted Lasso

Other than happenings in my sewing room, not much else is going one. BORING!! around here.

I’ll be busy shopping and cooking for the next few days! πŸ™‚

TO-DO Tuesday #133

Last week my list was:

1. Do something for ABC Table Scraps Challenge✅

Come back on Friday to see my post.

Finish the Any Kid top ✅

Finally the snow is gone off the deck, so we could do a photo !

and get the “girl” colors on to the design wall ✅

Looks like I have 10 more blocks to make before this is a quilt top. More yellow and maybe light aqua and light green.

3. Box up and return my Go Big cutter!✅
I forgot to take a photo of the box at the FedEx store! But be assured, Mr. Busy helped me box it up and carried it into the store for me. That thing is HEAVY!

4. Keep working on star sashing for Long May She Wave. ✅

Row seven at the sewing machine

Rows 1-6 on the wall!

5. Work on Miss Flopsy cross stitch from Melisa at Pinker 'n Punkin Quilting.✅

Basket needs to be finished, several more flowers to do, a bird and I missed one of Miss Flopsy’s legs! 😳

I’m linking up with other list makers at Quilt Schmilt~ For the Love of Fabric and To Do Tuesday. Thanks Carol for hosting this Linky Party.

Slow Sunday Stitching Mar 26th

I’m joining some slow stitchers this cold snowy Sunday! Thanks Kathy for hosting Slow Sunday Stitching.

I’ve started an Easter/Spring themed cross stitch. It’s a chart offered free from Melisa at Pinker n Punkin Quilting  Scroll down almost to the end of her post to find this chart. And then peruse all her other posts for more spring designs. Thank you Melisa for your extremely generous sharing of your designs.

This is Miss Flopsy! I should have her complete before Easter. I used all the suggested DMC colors except for the yellow flowers. I was missing #725. I know I have it somewhere, another project bag no doubt! But after consulting my color chart, I found an unidentified bobbin of floss that was a close match.

Today will be a good day to sit and stitch Miss Flopsy and her surroundings, and dream of Spring!

Out our living room window this morning! Snow again!

Last ScrapHappy Saturday for March!

I'm sharing my GREEN goals at Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2023!  Thanks Angela for allowing me to do it my way this year. Finishing is a must for me this year!!!

Most of you remember that I’m following the color prompt to finish some UFOs. I have a spreadsheet on my laptop that has all my UFOs listed and I randomly assigned each one a color. When Angela announced that color, I work on that UFO for the month. Green led me to get the borders on Growing Up Odd and to get a flimsy of happy blocks ( one of my blocks for 2022).

The Happy Blocks are all together, stay stitched around the outside, pressed and folded in the bag to go to the quilter.

Thanks to Mr Busy, better lighting for this outside photo.

Also there was a bit of green sewing going on! Come back next Friday to see my ABC Table Scraps Challenge entry!

I’m pretty happy with the way this project list is going!

March One Monthly Challenge Finish 2023

My OMG challenge was to get the outside sashings on this quilt and as a bonus, get the backing ready for the quilter.

The borders are done and you can see the navy blue twill fabric for the backing. I’m waiting for a batting sale at JoAnns and then off to the quilter it will go!

Edit:
This is a pattern from Deanna at Wedding Dress Blue. It’s called Growing Up Odd! Each part of the big block has an odd number of squares. Susan from DesertSky Quilting recognized it! Thanks Susan for reminding me to give Deanna the credit.

I LIKE Thursday ~ Vegetables

Today’s Prompt.     Do I Plant Vegetables?

The short answer is yes! Some!  For the last few years we have had tomatoes in pots on a wagon in the back yard. Our house faces South, so it’s really hot out front.  I also love to grow herbs on the deck. Basil and thyme mostly. Sometimes it depends what is at the store. I always grow with starter plants. We don’t have a long enough season to start from seed.

Hope on over to Not Afraid of Color and check with others on LeeAnna’s list of I Like Thursday participants! You’ll be sure to learn something, have a giggle, and share some triumphs!

Other likes today:

I bought an AccuQuilt cutter. The Go Big! I had a bit of a problem, but I think it is resolved now! So that’s good!

I got my hair cut last week finally! No, there won’t be photos. I’m happy with it, just not a fan of selfies!

Happy Mail!

During “Project Quilting 14. 5 Sew not a Square”, I was one of the lucky winners! I received this cute denim bucket! It’s lined in limey green with black and white! I love green! Also included was a pack of mini charms, Le Pavot by Sandy Gervais for Moda. Lovely spring colors of aqua, peachy orange , and dark charcoal! Do you know what La Pavot is? It’s Poppy!  And purple handled thread snip, too!   How fantastic! Thank you, Nikki Moshier, for donating this prize to Project Quilting!

Today I got to spend 5 hours stitching with 6 friends. There was binding, and Hexies, wool embroidery and regular embroidery on some Christmas projects. Lots of laughing , some sharing of great grand baby photos. I got the binding done on my Tablescrapes challenge. You’ll have to wait til next week to see it!
You can bet it’s green! Wink!

And I solved Wordle in 3 tries today!  I took a photo my screen, but I’d better not show it! The day is not over yet !

TO- DO Tuesday #132

I'm linking up with Carol at Quilt Schmilt - For the Love of Fabric and To Do Tuesday!

Last week March 14 - March 20

1. Finish and post Project Quilting 14.6. CONQUER A FEAR ✅
You can read about my project here

2. Think about ABC Table Scraps Challenge.❌

Technically not true! I thought I would cut some HST on Sunday. Last week I ordered an AccuQuilt cutter, the electric Go Big! Expensive! It arrived Thursday and I didn’t get a chance to open it til Saturday. Then I read all the accompanying paperwork! On Sunday, I plugged it in, reread the start steps and hit the green button. Noise, but no cutting! Made three more tries! Still no cutting! I have submitted a support ticket and chatted with the AQ BOT! !  Karen and Jeanna reached out to me about their cutter. They both are happy with theirs. As of 5:00 pm Monday I have received an email from Customer Service. I followed their suggestions and their instructions. I hope to be packing the cutter up and shipping it back to them this week.

3. Happy Blocks ✅ In frustration after what was happening with the accuquilt, I put them on the wall.     Rearranged and left them. I didn’t like them! “Sad face”

Then,  I pulled out all the definitely girly blocks and make seven more in more gender neutral colors. This is the result, before I started to sew them together. They are now webbed vertically. Tomorrow or soon , I will sew the horizontal rows. Then probably a border.  Or not!!

Next week
March 21- March 27

1. Do something for ABC Table Scraps Challenge
2. Finish the Any Kid top and get the “girl” colors on to the design wall
3. Box up and return my Go Big cutter!
4. Keep working on star sashing for Long May She Wave.
5. Work on Miss Flopsy cross stitch from Melisa at Pinker 'n Punkin Quilting.
