Slow Sunday Stitching- 1-28-24

It’s the last Sunday in January and time to link up with Kathy’s Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching! 

I have a few stitches to put into this Kathy Schmitz SAL, Woven Wreaths. That will be easily accomplished today. 

And then it’s the day I put all the stitches to record the last week’s high temperatures in my Temperature Stitch! As promised, I won’t bore you with each week’s 7 stitches! So next Sunday, I’ll show all of January! 

And I’ll put some stitches into the finishing of  GROW. 

And now I’m putting the iPad down to focus on a favorite early Sunday activity. Watching Sunday Morning on CBS. Today they are all about Charles Osgood. The host of that program for 23 years, he passed away last week. He was 91.

When I participated in the Rainbow Neighbourhood QAL sponsored/hosted by Sandra from mmmquilts I was lucky enough to win a prize from Cheryl Brickey at Meadow Mist Designs.  My prize was 4 digital patterns. I downloaded them this week. Looking Glass was one of my choices. 

I'll share the others as I write I LIKE Posts this month. 

Our daughter came for a short visit. She has found a place to begin stockpiling her "things".  So she will take a few more totes home with her this trip. She and some friends went camping to Vedauwoo near Laramie WY.  She had a wonderful time and that makes me happy!

Justified : City Primeval premiered on FX on Tuesday night. We don’t have FX, so we watched it on HULU on Wednesday.

And Sweet Magnolias begins Season 3 on Netflix tonight!

Have you watched the first seasons of Sweet Magnolias?  A typical chick flick and I so enjoy it. Mr. Busy will watch with me. Afterall, I watch S.W.A.T, , Jack Ryan, Misson Impossible , Justified with him!!!!!

New ruler, Mini Simple Folded Corner recommended by Bonnie Hunter for her new Leaders and Enders block. 

I have read the instructions multiple times, tied both methods and I’m not sold on it yet!

I’ll keep practicing!

I wished I had had my camera handy. Saturday night as we were going out to meet our granddaughter and her family for pizza at Old Chicago, we came to a stoplight not far from our house. The vehicle in our lane was stopped sort of askew. And suddenly he jumped out of the driver side door and ran to the front of his pickup. Turns out he was shooing a mother duck and 8-10 tiny ducklings across the highway. I gave him a two thumbs up as he hurried back into his vehicle the light had turned green. But no one was worried that we had to wait an extra minute. Oh to have had that on tape. 🥰 

Tuesday morning I was sitting on my front porch having coffee. It was 7:30 ish. Now the arrival of the garbage truck usually isn’t newsworthy, but here is our truck. It has a name! Hop, Skip and Dump! I smile every time I see that! Last year the city held a contest and each  elementary schools got to name a dump truck. You can see that this truck was named by the students at Buffalo Ridge Elementary. 

My brother and SIL live on the outskirts of Rapid City SD. They make road trips to the Black Hills regularly. My SIL is an avid photographer and loves wildflowers . Sharing a few of her recent photos.

I LIKE Thursday. ~ Special Easter Food?

I LIKE Thursday But I don’t like Peeps!

Oh boy!  I'm a slacker at this one. Not a single special Easter bread, dessert or food. We usually have ham but not specially prepared.  Other foods are just whatever. This year we are celebrating early. Our daughter is coming home this weekend to pick up her kitty. We've been cat sitting since she moved to Colorado.  Mr Busy will miss him a lot. King loves “Pa". 

Anyway our granddaughter and her family will join us here at our house. Ham, scalloped potatoes, jello salad, green salad and Birthday Cake. Our grandson-in-law has a birthday on the 3rd. He likes angel food cake!  Just plain! 😯.  I'll have strawberries and cool whip for the rest of us. 😀

I'm still reading Watership Down. 

We've finished watching Suits. And now we are back to watching our regular programs, NCIS, NCIS: Hawaii, Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., S.W.A.T., Blue Bloods.

Tuesday night we started a new series on Netflix. The Night Agent! 

Gabriel Basso is a cutie. It’s pretty intense , but I think it will be good.

And we are ready to start season three of Ted Lasso! 

Other than happenings in my sewing room, not much else is going one. BORING!! around here. 

I’ll be busy shopping and cooking for the next few days! 🙂

I LIKE Thursday ~ New Beginnings!

Last week I talked about this  chocolate liqueur.

 

It’s yummy over ice cream. Vanilla or Caramel Swirl! Also very special in Christmas morning coffee with a dollop of whipped cream! 

We have watched a second episode of 1923. Now all of us are looking at a Dutton Family Tree to figure out how each character is related to the present day Duttons. 

 Christmas Day , we watched a dismal Bronco v Rams football game. We are Bronco fans and it’s been a disappointing season to say the least! We ate from a charcuterie board while watching the game. You may remember, I was all for easy! Then we watched How the Grinch Stole  Christmas 

and finished with Glass  Onion, a Knives Out Mystery ! Very good! 

I received 3 new books for Christmas, so you will hearing about those. 

I also got an electric wine bottle opener,

so we tried it out with this wine 

and a homemade taco pizza! Both yummy!

I’ve baked more cookies in the last 5 weeks than I have in the last year. Here is the latest dozen.

Oatmeal Raisin! 

The current PROMPT  is: Do you want to learn or try something new?  YES! 

Knitting socks.  I am not a novice knitter, but socks are intimidating me. I ripped out my previous start and will start again. I have a private (almost)  tutor,  so there are really no excuses. 

Ready to begin again!

Junk Journal. I have been wanting to start this for some time. Seeing LeeAnna’s Art and also Joy’s creations,( check out one of her posts here) got my juices flowing again. When I am back with my supplies, I am going to dive-in. 

I’ll need, paper, glue, scissors, junk(ephemera), stickers, paint, markers, colored pens, pencils, even lace, buttons, fabric scraps! I got this! Haha!

December is a month for making lists. Gifts to buy, projects to complete, resolutions to think about. Nice and Naughty lists too!!  heehee! Here is my list from last week. I’ve definitely got one to carry over to the upcoming week. I’m joining the gang at Texas Quilt Gal, hosted by lovely Linda!

Nov 29- Dec 5
1. Work on cross stitch projects ✅

The teacup is my favorite!

2. Start some shopping for Christmas.☑️
                         Only thinking was accomplished! No actual purchases!

3. Address some Christmas cards.✅

                         I don’t send many. Some to far away family! And especially an elderly uncle and my                             only living uncle. He doesn’t do Facebook!

4. Find a new series to watch on TV✅


           We’ve started two!

On Amazon. A story of an English women in middle- America in the 1890, out to revenge the death of her child.  She meets a Pawnee from Oklahoma , an ex-cavalry  scout who is determined to acquire land as promised by the government. They end up in Hoxem, Wyoming !
