TO -DO Tuesday #8

Sue and Roseanne from Home Sewn By Us are keeping us on track!  Thank Goodness!  If I didn't have this place to be accountable, I could fall down the rabbit hole of blog reading and game playing!

Last weeks list: September 22 - September 29

1. Start the stitching on the Christmas motifs for the hexie table topper. ✔️

I selected the threads.  The outside of the wreath is complete.

2. Do the last of the Red Easy Breezy blocks. ✔️

3. Do some other (secret sewing= maroon) ✔️

I finished a scrap basket for red. But as you can see! I needed a basket for darker reds.

Slab blocks are made and ready to be quilted.                                             Quilted and trimmed. Also burgundy lining is cut.

4. Attempt the big stitch quilting on the Harvest Table runner.  Not Done

No attempt made.......I need to find some kind of hoop.

To-Do  for the Week of September 30 - October 6

1. Complete the Dark Red Scrap Basket
2. Select a few more books to be donated to the Quilt Show Boutique
3.Make 2 Fiddlesticks blocks for Covered in Love.

September One Monthly Goal is a Finish!!

My September One Monthly Goal was to complete the challenge project from my Loose Threads quilting group.  We were given a paper bag of fabric and embellishments and a list of really weird holidays. We were to chose a holiday and make something depicting that holiday using 2 of the items in the bag.

I chose Drive-In Movie Day   June 6th. Mr Busy and I did a lot of drive-in movie dates back in the day. We were married on June 2nd.....so it seemed appropriate.

Here is my completed pocket pillow. I might put jelly beans or Junior Mints in the pocket!

The front.

The pocket is constructed of the mini charm pack that was in the paper bag. It's called Sunday Supper, I really like it and would use it again, but I can't find it anywhere. The main body of the pillow is some fabric from my stash. There was text fabric in the bag......so I used pieces of it and appliqued the words on the front and made the zipper covering on the back. There was also a bottle of silver glitter glue in the bag. That was applied to some of the stars on the pillow front!

The back. Oh, and the word THE END was appliqued on the back also.  I hope we can meet soon for show and tell. There are 18 of us in the group, so we should be able to social distance at the big meeting room in our library!  Fingers crossed!

I'm linking up with Patty at Elm Street Quilts. She hosts this marvelous monthly challenge place.

ScrappyHappy Saturday Late Again.

Blog posting is getting harder for me! Not sure why, though it could have something to do with Mr Busy’s Honey-Do list! I seem to be the designated “sous chef”, apprentice plumber, gopher, or prevalent in our area,  “swamper”!

I’ve been sewing in bits and pieces of time. I did get 2 Geese Migration blocks done!

Along with 6 hollow 9 patches

And a few (8) red Easy Breezy blocks

And I did finish the Red Scrap Basket that was the September Challenge set up by The Joyful Quilter! Or did I start this! Doesn’t matter! The baskets are getting done and that’s the plan! And to be fair! September isn't over. There are 4 more days!

I'm linking up with Angela's ScrapHappy Saturday. Go check out the other quilter's red projects this week. Four more days and we will be on to YELLOW!

Stay Busy and Stay Happy and Healthy!

One more photo with some red! and some yellow. We traveled to Spearfish Canyon, South Dakota on Thursday for an R&R day. Just to look at the changing leaves. I don't usually get to see oak trees and what is left of the acorns! That was fun!

Finished or Not Finished Friday! Finally a finish!

Last week I shared the almost finishes. This week, I can share that they are done!

The Dick and Jane quilt is done. And I have filled out the Quilt Show entry forms. I can deliver it and the R,W,and B quilt I finished earlier  starting October 1st! I also will be donating some books I’ve culled from my shelves!

I need to do more, but that takes me some time. Cause I have to page through each one before I let it go!

Dick and Jane

It's dreary and windy here today. 56 degrees and threatening rain. This part of the back fence is pretty secluded, so not much wind to fight with. Just a ripple.

Winter Mystery quilt from last year! I will save it for a Quilt of Valor presentation! But it will be hanging in the Quilt Show.  They love having QOV quilts.

The other project I finished is the challenge pillow. It’s a bit of a collage, but that was the challenge. You can read about it here

This is the back, with covered zipper

The front, with book pocket or snack pocket!

So there you go....a couple of finishes!

I’m linking up with Alycia at Finished or Not Finished Friday.

I’m late, yesterday was a bust! I accomplished NADA.  Mr Busy decided to take the master shower head apart to soak it in vinegar! (We really have hard water) you know how one thing leads to another when you start a project? Well, the rod came down, the shower curtain went in the washer, he decided we needed a new non slip may, I agreed of course. Off to the hardware store, lunch in the park and do the weekly grocery pick up! Only!!! I forgot to finalize the grocery order....so back to the store we will go today!  (Saturday) I used to hate shopping on Saturday, but with curbside pickup it's not bad at all! .

I LIKE Thursday #12

I’m joining bloggers at Not Afraid Of Color. LeeAnna  gives us the opportunity to share some likes every Thursday.

Beside my chair.

I’ve shared some cool and some silly things in the past. Today, I’m sharing a gift made by a friend years ago. Before I started quilting, before everyone was friends on Facebook, before there was a Instagram and Pinterest.

It’s made from a cloth placemat from Walmart. Folded and stitched to hold notecards, stationery and a pen and stamps. I don't keep stamps in it anymore, but there are a few stickers and seals.

It’s tied with ribbon attached with fabric glue and decorated with a bit of ribbon and a piece of trim. I kind of quit using it regularly, but it was always handy if I needed a notecard for a handwritten thank you. But during this time of isolation, I brought it out and leave it now beside my chair. So I can easily and more readily dash off a note to my kids or my sister or my uncle, who just lost his wife!

Fall is here! The Autumnal Equinox was Tuesday morning. After I read a few To-Do Tuesday posts I changed out a couple of wall hangings and this table topper.

The Pumpkin table topper that is almost to big for my coffee table. And it need to be pressed. I store it in a closet on a hanger. There is always a fold and a ripple. Pressing fixes it! How do you store wall hangings and table runners?

A fall wall hanging, pattern from Crabapple Hill, from many years ago. The original pattern called for leaves all around. I had seen the paper pieced pumpkins in a magazine and luckily they were the correct size to fit in  place of the leaves across the bottom. I like the stripe binding. That is the backing fabric also.

This small appliqued wall hanging has "siblings" that say Winter, Spring, and Summer! The patterns were in Quick Quilts Magazine  in 2013!

I especially like photos shared on Facebook!

Our daughter shared this photo of our great granddaughter working  on a preschool erector set. It had the caption: "My Pa ( Mr Busy) would like to help me with this"  She knows he is a tool guy! It warmed our hearts. We miss them so very much!

Our granddaughter in Vermont explored a Sunflower field turned into a MAZE. We have corn mazes around here, but not Sunflowers!   She is wearing her mask!  Good Girl!

And last weekend they picked apples. She kind of new to the domestic scene. She wants to make apple crisp!  She can do it!!!

Hopefully, today while you are reading this...Mr Busy and I are on a road trip to Spearfish Canyon in South Dakota. They say the colors are nearly at their peak and the weather should be good. We will pack a lunch and find a pretty place to enjoy it. I'll take pictures to share next week.

Hope on over to Not Afraid of Color to see other bloggers’s post about good things’

To-Do Tuesday #7 and Weekly Progress Update

I’m so glad that I happened on  the  To-Do Tuesday List hosted by Home Sewn by Us. This one keeps me accountable on a weekly basis. I’m a believer in small steps lead to big projects done!  I'm back to be accountable again.

Last week's To-Do List

September 15 - September 21

1. Bind Dick and Jane quilt.   ✔️    All four corners done. Finished watching Monday Night Football!  The lighting is a bit weird, but the game isn’t over yet and you know you can’t disrupt the game! 😆 The backing is dog sound words...woofs ruff, bow wow!

2. Continue on the Loose Threads challenge. ✔️

It is completely done!  Even Glitter Glue on the stars on the background fabric. As I worked on this I had no idea what I would do with it. But, as it finished, I thought of my youngest granddaughter. She and her fiance are Music Festival attendees and they love to camp. It will be perfect to be in the tent. And should they find a Drive-In Movie Theater they can use it for that too!  <3

3. Trace Christmas designs on neutral for Hexagon Table topper ✔️

Though they are hard to see here, they are ready to start the stitching. There is a wreath, a star and a heart!

I'll be using them on a table topper like the one on this magazine cover---only Christmas themed.

Using this charm pack called Holly Jolly by Moda. It's been in my stash for 6-7 years.   I'll keep you posted.

So I feel pretty good about checking the items off my list. Now if I could just remember how to make a check mark in HTML. I used to know!  I cheated and edited the check marks using my iPad! 🤓

Next week  I want to do:

1. Start the stitching on the Christmas motifs for the hexie table topper.

2. Do the last of the Red Easy Breezy blocks.

3. Do some other (secret sewing= maroon)

4. Attempt the big stitch quilting on the Harvest Table runner.

ScrapHappy Saturday 9.19.20

It’s a no red week !  Nothing red was sewn. The only red in my life this week, was keeping the red petunias in my deck railing box healthy,

the sun at sunset was red due to all the smoke. I did not take a photo, my phone camera makes it look pink! Our air quality yesterday was 187.

There  was cherry pie for Mr. Busy’s birthday!

and a few strawberries harvested!

Sewing wise, I worked on my September OMG . You can read about the whole thing here.

and started sewing the binding down on the Dick and Jane quilt! One corner is done, and almost an adjacent side. Goal is to be done by Monday night!

I'm linking with Angela's ScrapHappy Saturday post and RSC20.
