Hello

I’m reluctant to share this before the binding is done, but next Friday it will be hanging in our quilt show. So here goes. I started this project in  October 2018. I’m a good starter. Not so much of a good finisher. I purchase the pattern, from Shabby Fabrics, intent on using us some Christmas scraps.

I started by cutting the light background rectangles from muslin. Then tracing the designs for embroidery in black.  Some progress was made as this Post on Feb 3, 2019 shows.  Then by September 6th there was this.

Some progress photos:

March 27th 2020  there was this.

Then this: what for a border?   None are right.

A trip to the fabric store….. I chose the black and red buffalo check

Finally this:

I waited for a special friend to give it her special touch with the long arm. But medical issues caused a pause. Then I finally delivered it to her, a month later  she had to return it unfinished due to early onset stenosis of her spine.

In June this year I dropped it off at Blue Bike Quilt Studio , my LQS. Deanna does fabulous work. There were several quilts ahead of mine.

Last Thursday the 19th of September she had it finished. Then there was binding to attach.

And now it is almost finished. Mr Busy holding up in the bright sunshine today. You will notice the row of wonder clips along the bottom. Almost Finished.

THANKFULly Slow Sunday Stitching.

Linking today with Kathy’s Quilts Slow Sunday Stitching

This has been a hard week, since Wednesday night. I’m speaking of my personal week, not the week we all experienced on the global/national stage.

I’ve been trying to stay grounded by stitching. Mostly counted cross stitch on this Thankful small.

This morning, it looks like this.

I’m a center starter. So the turkey got started first. Then I wanted to get to the word THANKFUL. It will give a better sense of how big this will be. The fabric was given to me, it’s not 36ct linen stitched over 2, as suggested. I think it’s 28 ct. But I stitched over two, so it should be like stitching on 14 ct. You will notice that as of right now, I have the right leg of the A and the KFUL. Then I’ll go back to finishing the turkey’s tail.

Stay Busy and Stay Happy and Healthy and Hopefully THANKFUL.

Rainbow Scrap Challenge. Sept 2025

Linking up with Angela and friends for ScrapHappy Saturday . Very little sewing this week. I counted all my finished potato chip blocks, and decided I needed a couple more pink ones. Only one was completed.

I’m making the photos big because they are scarce. I have a pale green one  under my needle, no photo!

I need this meme today. Thanks Sweatpants and Coffee.

Mr Busy was life-flighted to Fort Collins hospital early Thursday morning with diagnosed tachycardia. He is stable and doing better. Right now they are doing a heart Cath, to discover the reason for the irregular heartbeats.

I am not with him, but our daughter is. Fingers crossed all will go as planned and they will discharge him tomorrow. Then our daughter will bring him home. We live 5+hours away. Guess I am going to have to put on my big girl panties and learn to drone in the Denver area!

My posts may be infrequent for a bit longer.

Slow Sunday Stitching. 9-7-25

Joining Kathy and friends at Slow Sunday Stitching

Guess what I’m slow stitching today?   It’s a kitten.

The backstory involves a very busy, could be neurodivergent 9 yr old. She asked me to teach her to knit. Now I haven’t knit anything in over 20 years. I needed to study up. She wasn’t able to sit still long enough to really watch me. Also I needed more time. So we made a deal. Gramma will knit the square, she will stuff it, and glue on the face pieces. She’s ok with that and so am I. She did roll the yarn into balls. And she counted the cast on stitches to make sure there was the correct amount.

I have also started a new cross stitch. It’s THANKFUL from Heart in Hand. It was given to me by a friend.

I’m just getting started. The pattern calls for 36 ct linen,  over 2 threads using 1 strand. I didn’t like it, so I took out the turkey head and started on the body with 2 threads. I have 28 ct linen. I’m also using DMC conversion colors. The pattern uses Classic Colorworks and Weeks Dye Works.  My math says it will be 4.5”X 4.5 “ design area. It’s kind of little. I like it.

I LIKE Thursday

Shared from Sweatpants and Coffee.

Not much to write home about this week. We did absolutely nothing special for our holiday Monday. Mr Bussy continues to grill the supper protein, if it works. We’ve had brats, chicken tenders, pork chops. There was laundry of course, some ironing of several pairs of capris and pillowcases.

I had coffee with a quilting, stitching friend. It’s always fun to catch up.

The baby quilt was delivered to Juliet’s grandpa. He will be visiting them in Sioux Falls SD, the end of next week. I requested some pictures of her with the quilt.

As far as LeeAnna’s question about school clothes and shoes. I don’t have recollections about anything specific. My mom sewed some, but not everything. When I was a teen, there was one special time that my Dad must have had a bonus or something, because he bought me a pleated Pendleton wool skirt. It was brown and beige and dark forest green. It was the most gorgeous thing I had ever had. I wish I had a photo to share, but that was 63 years ago and I have no idea where one might be. That stuff happens when you’re creeping up on 80!😀

Join me over at Not Afraid of Color to see how others answered the conversation starter.

Two tomatoes were plucked from the one plant I have. I counted 7 more pale green to orange ones. If a freeze is forecast, I’ll pick them

Mr Busy is willingly going to cardiac rehab 3 days a week. He says he is actually enjoying it. That makes me happy. I try to walk in the mornings while he is gone. I finished listening to James.

I highly recommend it. It’s a retelling of Huckleberry Finn from Jim’s POV. Very well done. Looking forward to forward to the discussion that will take place at the gathering of our book club.

Today the Thursday Stitchers will gather in a new place Our library is extra busy this time of year. So we have been invited to gather at the Moose Lodge. They will feed us taco salad. It should be fun.
