May 31st. It’s the last day of May

Not much green sewing in May. In fact not much sewing at all. I did complete 2 more potato chip blocks to go with the 2 posted about on the 5th.

Yesterday I spent some time in my sewing room, putting things away, trying to remember where I was when, Mr Busy asked me to take him to the ER. Seems like a long time ago. There was also some pressing of some laundry that had been languishing since early May.

I’ve almost finished 4 more heart blocks, for the baby quilt version of Glowing Hearts QAL. I have to add the bottom triangles. Those added to the 2 completed earlier leaves only 3 more to make. Then assembly can begin. I need to make a decision about sashing, corner stones and borders.  That will come when I get all nine blocks on the design wall

Till then, I may ge a quick Table Scraps project done for mays Table scraps Challenge, green and fresh grass. We will see๐Ÿ˜‰

Finished or Not Finished.

A lilac bush at our library. So pretty!

I’ve got nothing for the upteenth Friday in a row. But I’ll share on Alycia’s blog. I was in Colorado at Medical Center of the Rockies with Mr. Busy. An unplanned, urgent but not emergency triple bypass. I am home in Wyoming but he is at a rehabilitation facility til the 10th of June. It’s 129 miles away. So I don’t go every day.

You would think I would be sewing. But my concentration is short.

⤴️There are pieces cut for a baby quilts following along with Glowing Hearts QAL at mmmquilts. I have til August.

There is partial construction of green potato chip blocks ⤴️

And there is a pile of  BH Triple Treat blocks that are in need of assembly. They looked like this on the design wall, before I stacked them up.⤵️

All waiting for me.

I LIKE Thursday. 5-29-25

Found on the internet.

Several things to like about this week. The first is that I  am back in my home. A neighbor who had been taking in my mail, left this on our dining room table with our mail.

Actually, Mr. Busy is not back home yet , but closer now. Monday he was transported to a rehabilitation hospital in Casper WY. Only 2 hours from home, instead of 4.5 hours.

Wednesday, my grandson-in-law, picked me and our daughter up and drove us to Casper. We had lunch with Mr. Busy. Then he drove our daughter back to Loveland CO, filled his truck with fuel and drove back to Casper, picked me up and we drove back home to Gillette. An 11 hour day of driving for him. I am so grateful. I spent the day with my hubby and helped out with his physical therapy. Here he is smiling for the camera on a short break in his physical therapy routine. The red pillow is a sternal protection reminder. He can’t get out of bed, stand up or sit down into a chair using his arms. So he holds the pillow against his sternum and pushes up with his legs or log rolls out of bed. It’s a lot of work. This will be his way for at least 6 weeks.

When I returned home on Monday night, this was some of my mail. A Mother’s Day gift from my daughter.

And my spirea was blooming. Nothing else has been planted around the house, but there is still some time. Pots of annuals can still happen.

I missed 2 weeks of conversation starters: 5-22-25: What technology could I live without?   I could get by without a television

5-29-25: What does Memorial Day mean ?  Memorial Day has always been poppies,  handed out at the grocery store or other gathering places to remind us of the men and women who gave their lives in the service of protecting our country and its constitution. Mr Busy’s father died in WWII and received a Purple Heart.

Thursday May 22

We are still sitting in a hospital room.  We are 9 days post-op. I’m struggling to have things to be thankful for. We do have a a lovely view of the Long’s Peak.

But Blogger won’t open my photos. Grrrrr!.I’ll share it when I can.  True we also have a view of the roof over the entry, but the Rockies are still beautiful

I guess I’m thankful for staff here at Medical Center of the Rockies  and Elkhorn Rehabilitation Hospital in Casper Wy.  We aren’t in Casper  yet, but hopefully tomorrow. I’m glad our daughter was here with me these last 2 weeks.

I’ve had lots of messages and caring supports from my family and friends at home and online. So that’s where I am today.

I can still see your posts but can’t share photos here. I’m sure it an internet issue.        Obviously the hospital had tighter security than the hotel. Tomorrow is our last night at the hotel, the I’ll be home. ❤️❤️❤️

Thursday May 15th

Thank You    Thank You     Thank You

This really isn’t a regular I Like Thursday post, but I wanted to post big Thank You to all who shared, best wishes, happy thoughts and prayers for Mr. Busy. The surgery is over, we are in day 2 post op. Still in the ICU. Hopefully back to regular cardiac floor by the weekend. He says he is nit in a lot of pain, but there is still some drain and his blood pressure needs to come up and stay up.

For some reason, blogger won’t let me share a photo or a GIF.

SO THIS IS A UNATTRACTIVE POST.   BUT THANKS ALL ANYWAY!๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿฉต๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’

I LIKE Thursday May 8, 2025

My wish for you this week, borrowed from Nanea at Sweatpants and Coffee.

Conversation Starter;

National Bike Month – Do you know how to ride a bike? When did you learn? Did you fall and get skinned knees?  Did you ride with other kids? Ever ridden a two person bike?

I’ll say I KNEW how to ride a bike. They say “it’s like riding a bike”, meaning you don’t forget how to ride a bike. I may not have forgotten how but the last time I tried I couldn’t do it. I don’t have the strength anymore. I don’t remember a tricycle, but I’m sure there was one. My first two wheeler was turquoise blue. I was eight, so 1954. So similar to this one.

My dad taught me to ride. We went to the city park, it had paved road through it and people drove slow and it was fairly unoccupied that Sunday after church.I don’t remember that it took me very long to get the hang of it. The only time I skinned a knee was on roller skates. The kind you clamped on your shoe and tightened with a key.

In those “olden days” we rode all over our neighborhood, even to school and locked the bike to a bike rack with a chain and padlock. I was even allowed to ride my bike to the library.

I’ve never ridden a bicycle built for two, but did ride 2Up on a motorcycle.

Don’t have much to share this week. I am thankful for caring medical staff and a good hospital. Mr Busy will have a “heart catheter “ procedure done today at noon. I’m praying for good outcome and an easy procedure.

Glowing Hearts- aka Charming Hearts

My hearts don’t exactly glow. The fabric doesn’t photograph well in my sewing space.

Dark at the top lightest at the bottom. There will be 5 with the dark at the top and 4 with the light at the top. Nine all together. I have one of each configuration completed. I sewed all the strips together before I watched Sandra’s tutorial on adding the bottom triangles. I was trying to catch up. ๐Ÿ˜Š

It went well. I might try the tutorial way to compare. These are very soft colors and I wanted to stay with the fabrics that were in the collection, so I don’t have a dark background and a light background. The backgrounds will all be the same. This is the baby quilt size and will go to the new baby sister of SJH. I made SJH, this Sandra Walker pattern in 2022. It is called Pop Star.

I’ll share my Glowing Hearts at Sandra’s QAL post.

I’m also sharing At Wednesday Weight Loss. I hoped to be further but Mr Busy ended up in the ER on Tuesday PM. They kept him overnight in the cardiac unit have been doing tests today. Hopefully all will allow a test for artery blockage and he’ll go home on Thursday. No seeing for awhile.

ScrapHappy Saturday May

We have a new color for our Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks. For May it is green. I like green. I have 2 scrap baskets + an overflow bin. I made 2 green potato chip blocks. These 2 are a mix of the green scraps from my 2” strip basket. Now I’ll try to do some just light to medium and some of dark forest like greens.

I am cutting parts for a Glowing Hearts baby size quilt. Sandra at Musings of a Menopausal Melon is hosting. QAL. The pattern is for sale in her Etsy Shop.

There are some touches of green in this fabric pull. As I cut the background this weekend, I found this

A long black mark, maybe ink, on the underside of the first 2 1/2” strip I cut. All this fabric was given to me. But there is enough to recut. So it’s all good.

Slow Sunday Stitching. May the Fourth

I’m joining Kathy and friends for Kathy’s Quilts: Slow Sunday Stitching

This week not much stitching was done. But today I will continue putting stitches on the octopuses on my biscornu. It really has been a slow relaxed process. But slowly you can see the 3rd octopus emerging. I am excited to get to the backstitching and then the assembly.

If you are not familiar with a biscornu, it will look like this:

As you can see it is a design from Tiny Modernist. There are several designs on her website.

HAPPY MAY DAY! Did you make May Baskets?

HAPPY MAY DAY! Did you make May Baskets?

I did not. I had thought about it, but procrastination took over! ☹️

I sharing with LeeAnna today, at Not Afraid of Color

Lee Anna hosts this fun event and gives us some prompts each Thursday

National Salad Month – Do a salad challenge:  What are your favorite kinds of salads? Does Fruit Salad count as a salad? How about Tuna Salad or Chicken Salad?

Yes, to all of the above. Fruit salad is awesome. I prefer Chicken Salad with grapes and celery and nuts. Tuna salad works for me too!. My favorite salad is Taco Salad, with meat, kidney beans, salsa, tomatoes, onions, sour cream, shredded cheddar and avocado or guacamole. When I make my own at home, I use bottled Russian dressing or Dorothy Lynch salad dressing. YUM!

We had rain on Tuesday that turned to snow showers at about noon. I felt sorry for our neighborhood sparrows.

Can you see them all lined up on the trim board of the neighbors house? Taken out our kitchen window through the screen. Mr Busy had filled the feeder and they were busy eating til it got so wet they took refuge.

We watched the best movie Tuesday night. I made chili for supper and we settled down with a movie!

It’s on Netflix and set in Denver, Colorado and surrounding area.
