Slow Sunday Stitching March 22nd and April 5th

I just realized I never posted this on the 22nd of March. OMGosh! I’m losing it!

Here we are. It’s Sunday again. Is it just me or is time flying ?

Our seasonal time change happened a while ago. Then Friday was the Spring Equinox. 

Last week I showed a Finished Stitchery. It is now Fully Finished. It’s a larger dough pillow. Seasonal of course, and now ready to put away til next March. 

I also did a quick Small project for  PQ17. The challenge prompt was Happy Handful! So I stitched up a 

L design from Jenny of Elephantz. Although the patterns are not available any more, I’m sure there are other alphabet patterns out there. It will be a birthday gift for a stitching friend who moved away. 

Today will be for finishing the backstitching on the octopus biscornu. That’s my plan. Sometimes a squirrel runs through my space and completely disrupts my plans! Does that ever happen to you? 

A squirrel came in the form of a visit to the Annual Home Show at our Convention Central. We talked to a couple of remodelers about bathrooms in our home that need to be updated. And a woman stopped me to fix my banks and apply something to the bag under my left eye. I couldn’t get away from her fast enough.  Then we had ice cream.

April 4th. 

I continued to stitch the backstitching on the pincushion/biscornu.  Then I watched the video on finishing it. Tiny Modernist made it look very simple. So I began. 

And I continued. I’ve rounded the second corner. I’m glad I have magnifiers on my glasses. It’s slow stitching but very doable. 

I stitched another pinnie for another friend. My goal is an initial embroidered pincushion for each member of Thursday Stitchers. I’m three months late, but will get the ones I missed in January- March , very soon. This one is for Ms SKG. 

And today I will do the first of several C’s. They work up pretty quickly, even though considered Slow Stitching.

What was the worst haircut you ever had?

There have been a few! Luckily I don’t have photos. lol. My mom always cut our bangs. Some were good, some not so much. In fact, I’m never really satisfied with a haircut until it’s about 10 days old. But I had a friend that had a real mishap. Back in the 70’s it was popular to razor cut fringe bangs. Her stylist was happily cutting her bangs when her hand slipped and cut a slice off the top of N’s nose!

But this week no haircut problems, though I’m not happy with this current one either. 

I put away the February Valentine decor. Slowly there is some March themed things appearing.  

A Kathy Schmitz seasonal stitch, a mostly green and shamrock table runner and March Alphabet Shamrocks from  Melisa at Pinker n Punkin Quilts and Stitching and a-made-years-ago, Patchabilities Shamrock skinny wall hanging. If you click on the link to Melisa’s blog and scroll down you will find a plethora a stitch charts for March. 

I received a late birthday gift from my daughter. It’s a journal. 

Yup. I’m 80. Can you see my name as part of the flower stem?  I thinks that’s so cool. 

The color is truer in the photo of the back. A lovely lavender.

It was a sunny warm day on Tuesday. We drove to Spearfish SD for lunch. While there we checked out their animal shelter. Many, many cats, one huge dog, and 4 medium sized. Mr Busy was really interested in one. Wish I’d taken a photo, but she barked and barked and barred her teeth. The attendant said she didn’t like kids, and would take some getting used to. But she just didn’t warm up to Mr. Busy. As soon as he said to her, “well I guess you’re not going home with me” she quit barking and laid down in the shade next to her kennel. 

My holiday cactus thinks it’s an Easter Cactus, by flowering early. Silly thing. 

And my birthday flowers are starting to fade.  Such a pretty pink. 

Off to my stitching group this morning. I’ll probably work on the St Patrick’s Day themed stitch. 

I love the green color, but not sure about the white sheep. Probably should have tea dyed this white fabric first. Hmmmm?

A bit of progress made on the Winter Row

Sorry about the shadows . I’m working backwards toward A and another snowman. The twiggy tree between the E and the F will get branches, but last!

But no progress on the octopus biscornu. 

I hope to start on this seasonal small this week. 

Hope everyone had some time today, to sit and enjoy some stitching time. I will do some this evening while we watch the new series Marshals on CBS. 

I hope it is as good as I expect!

Slow Sunday Stitching 2-15-26. #26.7

 

Progress on all (mostly all) of my stitching works in progress. 

Sweetly Sayin’ is finished, though not yet fully finished.

Winter Row is Progressing. I have 2 rows to finish on his bottom to make him more rounded. And my friend Aggie gave me a strand of the called for floss for the noses, so next he’ll have a nose. 

 Lastly, I’ve moved on to octopus #3 backstitching. Last night I was merrily stitching along while watching the Womens Mogul competition and the Women’s Curling, when I discovered 3 missed stitches on #3’s #2 tentacle.  It was 10:30 pm, so I put it away and got ready for bed. 

Can you see the missed stitches I circled on #3 as compared to #2?  Easily fixed, just need to thread a needle and do it before continuing. 😟

Happy Valentine’s Day!! On Thursday , my stitching group meets. We have some creative and very generous ladies . 

A card with a peppermint Ghirardelli from Sandra, the pink paper heart with a Valentine message on the back from Mary, the tiny enveloping of conversation hears and a decorated flap from Diana, and the tiny mailbox, 2 nugget candies wrapped to look like a mailbox from Agnes. The Ferrero Rocher candy was from Mary’s husband, he’s decided to eat healthier. 

I finished the Sweetly Sayin’ cross stitch, on Tuesday night. I hope to find time to Fully Finish it today. 

In between I made a 16 patch star block. I really liked Diann’s from last year. I don’t think she will mind if I share her flimsy. The photo is from her December 5th blog post.

 Her squares are 3.5, I have drawers full of already cut 2.5” squares that need to be used up. Her point squares were 2”, I tried 1 7/8” . Are they ok?

Slow Sunday Stitching and Super Bowl LX and The Winter Olympics! #26.6

 

 I’m linking up with SLOW SUNDAY STITCHING at Kathy’s Quilts. 

It’s Super Bowl Sunday in the US. So as I watch all the hype early and then the game, I’ll be stitching on the Sweetly Sayin’ small stitch, from Primrose Cottage. 

This week I fully finished a piece I finished last February. It’s a free chart from Melisa at Pinker n Punkin Quilts. 

I had a scrap of that tiny lace edging in my trim box. I’ve pressed it numerous times. It is stubborn. Before I put it away the end of Feb, I’ll dampen it and pin it down!

Shared from Sweatpants and Coffee. - not recently. 

It feels like Spring. I know I should not be optimistic.  But I even have tulips coming up. I haven’t walked to the backyard to get a photo, but I will. 

At Stitching Group we had the door open all day. It was wonderful. Here are two projects that were shown. 

 

A counted cross stitch project that I finally Fully Finished.  And a wool appliqué project that Donna says is a FO. A found object in the closet. She is doing a wonderful job. There were more, but I didn’t get photos. My bad!

LeeAnna asked about Valentines exchanged in elementary school. I’m pretty sure that yes we did. But I remember more helping my own kids decorate shoeboxes into Valentine Mailboxes. Red and pink with cut out hearts. We did Valentine Parties. As Room Mother, I made sure there were cupcakes, conversation hearts in tiny baskets.  All kinds of fun. ❤️🧁

My youngest granddaughter had a tendon repaired in her right thumb today. She is home and doing well.I LIKE that. 

Here is my February buffet decorated:

It’s confusing, but the small heart topper is on top of two side by side while placemats. Otherwise it looks too small. The candle in the warmer is peppermint, the tall bottle is ChocoVine. A blend of red wine and Dutch chocolate. I haven’t tried it yet. It was a gift from my friend at Christmas. She puts it in her  coffee!

Slow Stitching Sunday #26.5

 

Linking up with like minded slow stitchers at Kathy’s Quilts today. 

I’m making slow progress on all my WIPs. 

The biscornu is at a stand still. So no real progress there. 

The February stitch is getting there. I hope I can get it done before Valentine’s Day.  This is a chart from Primrose Cottage Stitches called Sweetly Sayin’.  It was their free chart in January. I don’t see it on their website today, but there are some other Valentine smalls. And some for March.

And Winter Row is a S-L-O-W one. I don’t have enough light at home, so am only working on it when I meet with my stitching group on Thursdays.  Got the arms on the middle snowman. So now it looks like something is happening. 

Soon he’ll have a nose , then his head will take shape. 

I’ve been doing some sewing at the machine, but nothing to brag about.
