ScrapHappy Saturday 9-12

Still trying to use up scraps. This month we are working on purples. For this 2nd Saturday in September I have 3 16-patch star blocks.

That is extent of my sewing this week. While I put these blocks together, I listened to this audiobook.

I recommend it. I’m currently reading another book by Eileen Garvin. It , too, is good. Set in the Mt Hood area of Oregon.

I’m late sharing with Angela @ Scrap Happy Saturday

ScrapHappy Saturday 8-29-26 and 9-5-26

I’m sharing at ScrapHappy Saturday. Last Yellow Saturday and ScrapHappy Saturday in Purple

My intention was to get the last yellow and aqua (from July) 16-patch starts done and on the design board. It did not happen.

Edited  Now it’s  9-5-26:

All done now!  4 from July, and 4 for August.!

I am looking forward to PURPLE..

I dug out my purple scrap bucket.

Made some choices:

I’ve been listening to the audio version of The Music of Bees by Eileen Garvin. It is so good.

I’m also reading the print book Circle of Days by Ken Follett.

Our life is busy. Next Saturday (actually today) is a birthday party for the younger great grandson, who’s “finally taller than Grandma”. He’s 13!

Our bathroom renovation is progressing, but slowly. I’m so ready for the disruption to be over, and to be settled back in our bedroom. The glass for the shower won’t be ready for 2-3 weeks! Good grief!

Scrap Happy Saturday 8-22-26

Just about caught up.  Because there are 5 Saturdays in August, this is technically the 4th Saturday. But my RSC for 2026 was to make 4 16-patch stars in each of the month’s colors. I have completed 3 yellow 16-patch star blocks and an equal number of aqua blocks.

The squares are all cut and arranged for the 4th blocks. So they should go together pretty quickly.

I’m also doing some crumb block construction with no special project in mind. Just using them as Leaders and Enders as I sew the star blocks. I’m not fond of multi colored crumb blocks , so I tend to stick to colorways. These are mostly brown fabrics.

ScrapHappy Saturday. 8-15-26

Joining Angela and other scrap enthusiasts at  Rainbow Scrap Challenge  for the second week of YELLOW.  There was a time I didn’t have much yellow, but I’ve slowly been accumulating yellow and gold. So now there are scraps.

This week I finally got the first yellow 16 patch star assembled. And because I’m behind, an aqua block too. You know how sometimes when you take a break from a project, you sort of forget how it goes?   No?  Well, let me explain. I found some already cut, small white squares . They measured 1.75”. I cut 2 more sets, I need 8 squares for the star points. I happily stitched them to corners of the selected 4 squares surround the white star center. Can you see  the difference?

I’ll intersperse a few more like it so it doesn’t stand out as the “odd duck”!.

There are more squares laying on design boards. I’ll try to get them and two more each to get caught up!

This week I also continued making Birthday Pin Cushions. I’m caught up with August birthdays, and there are none in September. So I’ll catch up on February and March birthday’s during the short break.

Trying to stay focused.

ScrapHappy Saturday!

Hello again. Joining all other scrap lovers and Angela at Super Scrappy RSC 26

I’m starting to spend a bit more time in the sewing room. I finally cleared off the cutting table so I could dump the Yellow basket for August blocks and the Aqua basket to catch up on July 16 patch stars.

Not sewn together, but one Aqua 16 patch stars on the design board and one yellow one. It’s a start!.

First the sew and flip corners for the star points. Then stitch the columns together.

I’ll keep plugging away, I’ll get there. I’m also stitching small alphabet squares. I’ll try to remember to take photos of the next ones I finish.

ScrapHappy Saturday Aqua??

I didn’t post last Saturday, the 4th. I wasn’t feeling the best, so we just “vegged”. Haven’t been able to cut anything. Holding the ruler with my left hand is very uncomfortable. Saturday the 11th, our daughter was here from Colorado. She was here from Friday noon, til Monday at 2:00pm. We had a great visit. She spent time with her grandchildren. We had a 10th birthday party and swam in the backyard pool. Well, they swam, I didn’t.

I did finish stitching a few more orange crumb blocks from May. When the scrap baskets and.boxes are out, I like to sew til the scraps are all gone and I have as many completed 6.5” blocks as I can get. No plan for these, but maybe Halloween.

Last Orange Saturday May 30th, 2026

I was finally able to sneak off to the sewing room to finish the last 2 orange 16patch star blocks. Even though there are 5 Saturdays this year in May, I’m just doing 4 in each month’s color. So we are 1/2 way, if I only do the 10 colors that Angela usually presents for Rainbow Scrap Challenge

Here are the four blocks for March (red), April (pink) and May (orange).

I need to cut 20 + white 2.5” squares for the star centers. I have used up all my white scraps, less that 5”x 5’. So now on to bigger chunks. Fat quarters or less. Slowly, slowly I’m using up my stash. 🙂 The star points are 1.5” squares sewed stitch & flip method on 4 colored squares . They are scrappy , whites, no creams or beige.

I’m still stitching crumb blocks as Leaders and Enders. No photos today though.

Happy weekend to all. Today is our youngest granddaughter’s birthday. She’s 33, living in Vermont. She and her friends have formed a Granny Hobbies group. They gather and knit, crochet, embroider and one even quilts. I think that is so special! HB, Miss Sunshine!

Rainbow Scrap Challenge April 9th

Joining Angela and others at Raunbow Scrap Challenge

These week I sewed one orange 16-patch.

And cut and sorted 2 1/2’ squares of more orange and some light blue to finally catch up on January.

Two small crumb blocks are being constructed as leaders and Enders while stitching the 16-patch squares. Nine year old great granddaughter was very interested in sewing on my machine. We will explore that this summer.

There was a bit more orange and orangish here this week. In my grocery order I included some Wild Wonder Medley tomatoes. They came in a large square clamshell. I washed them and dried them and they are sitting on the counter in my mom’s Jewel Tea mixing bowl. I love how they look! We are eating them like candy! So  so good.

ScrapHappy Saturday. May 2nd but published later!

On May the 4th!

So I’m posting late to Rainbow Scrap Challenge

A new color, ORANGE!  I brought out the orange basket, plus some precut 2 1/2” squares. I didn’t sew with orange, I was finishing up the pink 16 patch stars and crumbs.

But this week I should find some short bursts of time to dig into the orange. The basket isn’t overflowing and held some precut 2 1/2” squares.

There was some other orange that showed up this week. We bought a bag of Cuties. They are really good. Not always the case with oranges purchased here. All that’s left!

And we ordered pizza delivered Saturday night. When I went to the garage fridge for a drink I grabbed this interesting orange can!.  It’s an IPA with tropical fruits and orange from Stone Brewery in California.

Much hoppier than Blue Moon!  LOL

Keep watching for more orange next week.

ScrapHappy Saturday April 25th

Sharing at Angela's Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2026.

I am sad to report absolutely no sewing was done in my studio. Unless you count stitching two pieces of bag mesh together to be woven between the rails of our open stairway.

My machine looks just the same as last week.

The crumb blocks are still in limbo!

So I'll share a meme I found on Facebook.

Yesterday this was what we woke up to. But it the best kind of moisture in my opinion.  Wet frozen snow on the lawns and trees, none on the sidewalks and roads.

Yesterday we got Emmie registered as a patient at a local vet clinic and she got her second rounds of "puppy shots".  She didn't wiggle , didn't wimper.  Her first set of shots was given to her before we adopted her. She now weighs 3.6lbs.  So she is growing and checked out all good.

I did get my biscornu stitched together and stuffed.  I still have to put the buttons through the center  but need a longer needle. I have doll making needles somewhere...then it will be done. Hooray!

This small stitch from Primrose Cottage moved along.

So I'm still here, but not productive.
