October is Rushing By…

Another “right on” selection from Nanea at Sweatpants and Coffee

Sharing some likes with others. Thank you LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color for this place to reflect and share.

Last weekend was the N.E.W. QUILT SHOW. it’s a big deal here in Northeastern Wyoming. I took some photos, but not nearly enough. If you are interested in seeing some of the ribbon winners in the various categories, you can check out their Facebook page. NE WYOMING QUILT SHOW. 371 quilts were on display. It’s a People’s Choice voting system, for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. There are sponsors and vendors who sponsor a category and award a ribbon to the quilt that they think fits that category.

A quilt of Cowboy boots, made from just border fabric. The quilter is a young woman who teaches Consumer Sciences ie Home Ec.

The Chairman's Block this year was Flag.  This quilter did a great job with flags as hearts.

This one was made by my friend Connie for her brother-in-law . To commemorate his retirement from law enforcement.

This quilter did won the Chairman’s Block award. Isn’t it fantastic? ⤴️
I really liked this one too.More traditional but stunning.

This is Mary’s Sue Spargo design. She is an amazing stitcher. Did you see the octopus?

Another stitching/quilting friend , Eileen created this gem. It’s colored with crayons, stitched, given a border and quilted beautifully.

The Best in Show quilt. Gorgeous!.

The featured quilter is someone who has supported the quilting community, and has been instrumental in keeping quilting alive, This year the featured quilter was DeeDee Peterson. Some of her quilts were hung around the arena. She had 150 quilts on display.

LeeAnna’s conversation starter for his week. “Do you prefer fun and festive Halloween decorations or truly terrifying decor? ‘

I’m not a horror girl on any level. My decorations include ghosts, pumpkins, maybe a witch’s caldron. Not skeletons and very few spiders or bats.  I need to get mine out. Now that our bathrooms ate nearly done, I can start putting things back in place.
Here’s a peek!

Speaking of bathrooms, our daughter lives in a rented apartment. Sometimes the bathroom can be a pretty scary place. She found a cleaning hack that transformed her toilet bowl. 1:1 white vinegar and blue Dawn. She says it’s “magic”. She also replaced the toilet seat.  All by herself!

Fall is showing up in our neighborhood.

Across the street from our house.

And Christmas is just around the corner. I ordered tissues in my last grocery order.

The way my fall allergies are kicking up they won’t last til Christmas!

I LIKE Thursday. October ‘25

I like our local N.E. Wyoming Quilt Show. It gets bigger and better every year. This year there were 433 quilts displayed.

In the Senior Catagory, this one done by my friend Sherry.

And my 2025 Stay At Home Round Robin . Many of you saw this one in the making.

In the Hand Embroidery catagory, this beauty done by my friend and fellow Thursday Stitcher, Aggie.

My finally finished Hometown Christmas.  Glad to get it stitched, pieced, quilted and bound. It’s Done.

I can’t remember who did this one, but I have always liked this design.

I don’t know the maker of this one either but it caught my eye..

There was a table of Other Quilted Items. Baskets, bowls, placemats, table runners.

This one was done by my fiend Connie. She lost her husband in June, but he purchased the fabric for her and she will donate it as a fundraiser to a group she and Rick belonged to.

This one was unique. It’s a variation of the Wyoming state flag.

This Art Quilt received an award. 1st place in the Small Quilt 2 Person Category.  Meaning one person pieced or constructed it, and a second person did the quilting.

This one also won 1st place . In the  Youth 9-18age group. I believe this young woman was 14.

If you haven’t seen enough, just go to the N.E. Wyoming Quilt Show Facebook page.

I’m reading 2 books during Banned Book Week. I wanted to know what all the fuss was about when this one was banned at our county library 2 years ago. It’s back on the shelf now.

And I’m reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,

because I never have and my book club read James by Percival Everett. There was so much criticism pertaining to the fact that it is a retelling of Huckleberry Finn, that I needed to read the book by Mark Twain.

I read my book club’s current selection last winter, so I was able to read other titles. We meet Oct 20th to discuss, The Frozen River.

I recommend this one. We’ll see what my book friends think. 😏

As for cozy clothes to wear. I’m looking forward to flannel lounge pants and my worn out fuzzy red slippers. My go-to outfit first thing in the morning. No pictures, I’m in bed as I type this Wednesday night. Maybe I’ll add an addendum to next week’s post. Sharing at Not Afraid of Color

I LIKE Thursday

Last weekend was the Annual N.E.Wyoming Quilt Show! There were 388 quilts on display. There are ribbons for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place  through People’s Choice voting! There are also sponsor awards.

My friend Aggie made this QOV quilt. She found the Marines medallion on line. Her son was in the Marines and works with a Marine support group in our state. She makes lots of RW&B quilts, both for QOV and for that support group. This one won best Patriotic Quilt. The pattern is one she saw on Pinterest then “ just figured it out”!

This one ⤵️ won for best hand embroidered quilt. My friend Marva stitched, pieced and quilted this. It is hard to see, because it has such soft colors. It’s the Gardener’s Alphabet from Crabapple Hill. The kit and all the floss was a gift from her husband several Christmases ago.

Best machine appliqué . Made by my friend Christine.

Best Sampler Quilt BOM from a local quilt store. My friend Connie got a sponsor’s ribbon for this beauty.

This is an embroidery entry and when you scan it with your phone, it takes you to a music video. Not sure if it will work from this photo, my angle might be off a bit. But it worked in real life!

I was photo bombed by some guy, but  this pixel quilt is best viewed from a distance. The maker is a 15 year old boy. His mom helped him draft the design.

Fall is officially here. Download is decorated to the max! Pots like this on every corner,

bicycles revamped with fall colors instead of summer flowers,

LeeAnna wondered:

do you like hayrides? When I was a teenager,  I liked them. Now I couldn’t crawl up into the hay wagon. But the idea appeals to me. Warm nights, stars in abundance maybe even a Harvest Moon.

tell us about one you experienced:   I maybe shouldn’t admit this. But I got my first kiss from a boy,  on a hayride with my MYF (Methodist Youth Fellowship) group.

I cannot remember his name but he was a year older than me! I was 16.

This week, two dentist appointments ! Not a likable thing, but necessary. I’d never experienced the ultrasonic cleaner. I felt like I was being “ waterboarded” 😁 The hygienist said it was the first time she’d been accused of that! 😳 I survived to tell the tale!

Stay Busy and Stay Happy and Healthy and Hopeful!

I leave you with a recent photo of a sunrise from my friend back yard!

The intense color due to fires in our area still and again! Mother Nature is definitely in a mood!

I’m joining Carol and friends over at Quilt Schmilt- For the Love of Fabric to share my to-do list! I’m a believer in lists. Here is how last weeks lists went!
I’ll link to To-Do Tuesday as soon as Carol puts up Mr Linky. I have an early Dr appt this morning so, it might be later.

I got the wool project pieces cut out and thread selected.

3. Write October OMG post and link up with Anne-Marie. ✅

Rainbow Neighbourhood on display at the show!
And this one is Growing Up Odd!
