Starting November- Midweek Makers #001!

Though some of you have seen my recent makes……this is just a recap for me..

My October OMG was to get this too-Long-in-the-UFO-closet to a flimsy. And therefore on the road to a finish. 

Depending on who I hire to do the quilting, I will need either a backing that is 8” more than the front or 12” bigger than the front. I have to decide. 

Then I made this little mug mat for my chair side table. It’s just the right size for a coffee mug and a cookie!

I’m sharing for the very first time with Midweek Makers at Quilt Fabrication. I’ve long admires Susan’s designs and tutorials.

TO-DO Tuesday # 161

I’m joining Carol and friends over at Quilt Schmilt- For the Love of Fabric to share my to-do list! I’m a believer in lists. Here is how last weeks lists went!

10-3-23 to 10-9-23


1. Keep stitching on both counted cross stitch projects!✅

Percy Penguin is finished. He fit perfectly in this ornament frame that was in my stash!

Equality Sampler is slowly coming along. It’s hard to see the lacy flower. The colors are so muted. But I promised a new Needle-minder! It’s RBG and says Fight For The Things You Care About.


2. Get wool pieces cut for yet another project!✅ 

I got the wool project pieces cut out and thread selected. 

3. Write October OMG post and link up with Anne-Marie. ✅
                   I’ve committed to my OMG project for October! My post is Here!


4. Deliver a box and a bag of “stash downsizing” to the Boutique at the N.E.W Quilt Show. And enter 5 quilts in the show on Thursday. ✅ I didn’t get a photo of the de stash box, but the quilts are home safe and sound.

And guess who I saw there? Alycia Carmin from Alycia Quilts. I visited for a bit with her and her husband!
And she took a photo of Long May She Wave, a quilt she designed, and put it on her Facebook and IG pages!

This upcoming week is looking a bit wimpy!
10-10-23 to 10-16-23


1. Get a hand project organized to take to hospital to keep my hands busy while MrBusy has an outpatient procedure.
2. Work on October OMG project!
3. Get wool pieces fused to background for the Stitch-Along Lunch at Linette’s.
4. Do some more De-stashing!

August Rainbow Scrap Challenge 8-5-23

If you remember. I’m not building blocks for a new project this year. Instead, all my UFOs were assigned a random color of the rainbow. When the color of the month is announced, the UFO with that color will be the project I work on!

Angela selected     Yellow = August! 

Full Stop and Colorful Birches! Both in the blocks need to be put together ( Full Stop) and blocks need to be made ( Colorful Birches) stage! What was I thinking, putting these on my UFO list? Well, if I can at least move them forward, I’ll call it a win! 

Full Stop was the 2021 RSC Sampler on Angela's blog. Here is a link so you can see Angela's quilt. I'm sure I am the only one who hasn't completed the quilt.  But I'll try to remedy that this month. 

I have on my list Colorful Birches and when I looked up the photo and link to the pattern, I remember the designer, Crazy Mom Quilts ( Amanda Jean Nyberg) calls it Bright Birches. I'm following her pattern which I downloaded several years ago. The date on my copy is 2012!   What ever I call it.  the blocks need to be made.  I have pieced the birches inserts previously, a Leader and Ender from many years ago.  

Strips for 7 blocks are here! Each block uses 3 strips.

Parts for more here and there are many more in my project box.

I think I had better print out a calendar page, commit to what project which day and see if I can stay organized.

Small goals met!

Ready for the final white border. 

2. Do something with Orange.

I sewed some crumbs! 😀

3. If I test Neg and feel good, stitch with my Thursday Stitchers.




I tested positive, so I did not go! So sad!

4. And attend a QOV Presentation that Alycia from Alycia Quilts will be doing in my town. I hope I feel good enough. I'd like to meet her in person. I promise "no hugging"

We had a wonderful day for the presentation! It was sunny and hot at 10 am, hence the dark glasses. Alycia knows her stuff. The presentation to 3 deserving veterans was wonderful, and emotional! The quilts were beautiful. 

The quilt holder was Alycia’s DH! 

Next week:  Aug 16 - Aug 

1. VOTE! Our primary is today! 🇺🇸🦅

2. Get Pop Star to the quilter and write a OMG post!

3. Make at least 2 blocks for CiL and get them in the mail.

4.  Start working on TSC for August. Orange and Embroidery!
