TO-DO Tuesday #135

Good Morning fellow list-makers! I’m linking up today, with our hostess  Carol at Quilt Schmilt for To-Do Tuesday!

April 4th -April 10th.



1. Cut and sew some horizontal white sashing for the QOV.✅

Oh no! There are no photos on my camera roll, and the rows are all packed away in a project box to take to Spring Sew! I’ll take pictures there and add them here Tuesday afternoon.

 
2. Practice with the AccuQuilt.✅ The Flying Geese die came with my cutter. So I made 10 purple and floral flying geese!

3. Get taxes done.✅ 

4. Plan a project for next week's 3-day Spring Sew.✅ see number one above plus I’m taking my batting pieces to make Frankenbatting!
5. Finish Miss Flopsy before Easter!✅.

The back. I sewed all four sides then slit the backing so I could stuff with fiberfill. I whip stitched the opening closed, then glued two rectangular pieces of wool over the opening. Easy peasy. I followed Lori Holt’s YouTube tutorial.

ScrapHappy Saturday 2-26-22

Happy last Saturday in February! I’m linking up with Angela at Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2022.

 I attended a 2 day sew-in this week. In preparation I brought out some leftover Hollow 9’s. When I put this one together 

I didn’t use the Aqua or brown/ black blocks. So I put them on the design wall. Not quite big enough for anything. 

So I cut white centers and put aqua and brown strips in a shoebox tote. 

 

Now I have this

And need a few more darks, seven to be exact,  then it will be a medium table topper. Fingers crossed.

Because I can’t stay focused, I guess! I also started on this placemat project. I’ll play catch-up till I have 1 in aqua/teals, one in reds and one in whatever the March color is. I picked up this at the give away table at the sew-in. 

And I also started this! So I would have a slow stitching project. It’s not teal, like the pattern. Mine will be dark forest green.

Doves Finished or Not Finished Friday #69 10-22-21

I have a finish today!  A squirrel of sorts, but not one that ran very fast!

The last day of August, I was reading blogs and when I got to Kelly's My Quilt Infatuation, she was introducing a new book. It is called Scrappy Improv Quilting. Now I loved her first book, Stash Statement so I read on. I read all about the small mini quilts and wall hangings featured in this book. Several caught my eye. She finished her post with a statement that she was going to do a giveaway. Just add a single comment and the names would be drawn at random. I told her how much I had enjoyed Stash Statement and how this book was "drool worthy"!

On September 6th I received and email saying I had won the signed copy of her book. I was "over the moon".  It took the USPS awhile to get it to me, but it was well worth the wait. 

I swooned and poured over the pages and the beautiful quilts. I shared it with my stitching friends too. They think I'm a bit "crazy about scraps", so I wanted them to see again what fabulous quilts can come from a bin of scraps. 

My sewing group, had a mini retreat planned for the middle of October. They had selected a challenge last year( when we did not meet) and it was to make some thing using yellow and gray. I finally decided I had better get on the ball. So I looked through the gray I had in my scrap box and found a muted dotted one. I could see it as birds. So Birds of a Feather was selected. This is Kelly's quilt from the book. 

I call mine  "Lonesome No More"!  I think of these as doves. Not Lonesome Doves though. 

Almost finished on Monday. 

I finished the binding, a solid gray, and hanging corners yesterday!

To-Do Tuesday #38

   To-Do Tuesday!  “May the fourth be with you!”       (I’m sorry, I couldn’t help it!)

Last week

To-Do for April 27th  - May 3rd

1. Check out the new color for May at So Scrappy!  ✅.   It's RED!   I have red!

2. Decide on OMG for May and write a post. ✅.      My post is here

3. Maybe retrieve my sewing machine and pick up the truck we bought in RC.     Not done yet, but we are going tomorrow!  My brother is done using the truck, my sister’s house is listed! 

4. Sew some Follow Your Own Path blocks, if I get my machine back.  ✅   I decided to just use the Janome. I'll take this project to the Sew Day on the 6th!

5. Add some strips to the embroidery, so they will fit in a hoop and start the stitching. ✅

The strips are just scrap. They will be removed after the stitching is complete. 

Next Week's List

May 4th - May 10th

1.  Make some hollow 9's in RED!

2. Cut pieces for Geese Migration blocks.   Dark red/bugundy/maroon and rusty orange. 

3. Enjoy the Sew Day with the Loosethreads group!

4. Keep working on parts for Growing Up Odd from Wedding Dress Blues

 Bonus.  5. Get Garlic Knots to a quilter!

To-Do Tuesday #12 And Weekly Progress Report!

Joining others today over at Home Sewn By Us with Sue and Roseanne. Where we share our to-do list and weekly progress. 

 Last weeks list.

October 20 -October 26

1. Finish 2 geese migration blocks ✅

2. Continue working on Heartland ✅

3. Start to make dark brown/black or neutral crumb blocks. ✅

1.  Yellow Geese Migration blocks!  I also checked the pattern. I need 25 blocks. I made 2  for 8 of the months. And 2 months, February and May, I made only 1. I didn’t have 2 different orange solids  in February or a second Dark Green for May.   I hope to be able to make a brown or tan block and a black one  too, then I will lay out the ones I have and try to decide what colors I can fill in with.

2. Heartland Blocks.   Now there are five.  But progress is progress. Right?

3.   OK,  I did more than start the neutrals....it’s Addictive!

Next weeks TO-DO List. 

October 27 - November 2

1.  Make more "fabric yarn"

2.  Make two more Heartland Blocks

3.  Make a zip bag for a travel jewelry pouch

4.  Bonus:  a yellow/gold string block

I LIKE THURSDAY #15

 I think it’s kind of amazing that I have been participating in LeeAnna's  "I Like Thursdays" for 15 weeks. I enjoy it so much! Reading and seeing other people’s likes is the best part!

My usual start is Beside My Chair! 

So far there is nothing new next to my chair. Same old mug rug, same old glass of iced drink and water!  Although today there it is a concoction of 3 oz of "high test" Dr.Pepper , ice and topped with Cherry Limeade sparkling water! It’s good and refreshing. I’ve rejoined WW and had regular soda in the fridge. I know it’s supposed to be better for you, no aspartame! But it’s 13 points per bottle! So I’m diluting it. I do the same with other regular sugary drinks like juice.  

I like that I got my One Monthly Goal done and it's not even the 15th yet! 

Yellow Scrap Basket. I was able to complete it without cutting into my larger chunks, thanks to a generous package from The Joyful Quilter. Lemon fabric in the little handle. Bananas and squares and polka dots make up the binding. The strip with the pink and blue flowers on a yellow background also came from Joyful! I love it. I did it her way instead of the way I had been doing the baskets. It was a lesson in "try it"!

I have lots of Halloween socks. Here’s a pair with candy corn on them and orange toes. Do you like candy corn? 

This is a new favorite treat! Though not allowed on WW. Well, to be correct, it is allowed! But it’s got too many points to be worth it! But, Mr. Busy can eat it, tall, skinny dude that he is! 

I will use gloves and a scoop and decant it into individual baggies. I'll take it to the all day sew-in on Friday to share ( and secretly, get it out of the house!)

To-Do Tuesday #10 and Progress Report

Week of October 7 - October 13

1. Work on yellow scrap basket! Check!  because I'm still working on it! Thank you , thank you, thank you  to The Joyful Quilter for some added scraps. It will be fun to look at the basket and remember her generous contributions! And she had some good ones. Lemons, bananas, dragonflys, polkadots, daisies, sunflowers, oh my!

2. Cut blocks for 3 Yard Quilt for Loose Threads Mini Retreat   DONE!

This is a 3 yard quilt that I hope to get together during our all day sew(mini retreat)!

The pieces are cut. Strip sets are ready to be sewn. I made  2 HST to check how much they needed to be trimmed! And then packed my Quilt in a Day Triangle Square Up Ruler. (no affiliation)

3. Make necessary sprouts blocks. 1-Red, 1- Green, 2- Brown.  DONE!

The yellow was necessary too, but it was done before last Wednesday! 

Week of  October 14-October 20 

1.  Make all blocks for Heartland.

2.  Cut Yellow Easy Breezy parts and sew last 2 Hollow 9's

3. Get yellow slabs to a quilted piece in preparation to construct a basket.

Bonus: Cut parts for Yellow Geese Migration blocks.

 That should keep me busy!  Mr Busy has a dentist appointment on Thursday. I have to take him and drive him home as he needs preparatory drugs!  I'll take my Christmas stitchery and run to the PO while he is under their supervision.

September One Monthly Goal is a Finish!!

 

My September One Monthly Goal was to complete the challenge project from my Loose Threads quilting group.  We were given a paper bag of fabric and embellishments and a list of really weird holidays. We were to chose a holiday and make something depicting that holiday using 2 of the items in the bag. 

I chose Drive-In Movie Day   June 6th. Mr Busy and I did a lot of drive-in movie dates back in the day. We were married on June 2nd.....so it seemed appropriate. 

Here is my completed pocket pillow. I might put jelly beans or Junior Mints in the pocket!  

The front.  

The pocket is constructed of the mini charm pack that was in the paper bag. It's called Sunday Supper, I really like it and would use it again, but I can't find it anywhere. The main body of the pillow is some fabric from my stash. There was text fabric in the bag......so I used pieces of it and appliqued the words on the front and made the zipper covering on the back. There was also a bottle of silver glitter glue in the bag. That was applied to some of the stars on the pillow front! 

 The back. Oh, and the word THE END was appliqued on the back also.  I hope we can meet soon for show and tell. There are 18 of us in the group, so we should be able to social distance at the big meeting room in our library!  Fingers crossed!

Finished or Not Finished Friday! Finally a finish!

 Last week I shared the almost finishes. This week, I can share that they are done!

 The Dick and Jane quilt is done. And I have filled out the Quilt Show entry forms. I can deliver it and the R,W,and B quilt I finished earlier  starting October 1st! I also will be donating some books I’ve culled from my shelves! 

I need to do more, but that takes me some time. Cause I have to page through each one before I let it go!

It's dreary and windy here today. 56 degrees and threatening rain. This part of the back fence is pretty secluded, so not much wind to fight with. Just a ripple. 

Winter Mystery quilt from last year! I will save it for a Quilt of Valor presentation! But it will be hanging in the Quilt Show.  They love having QOV quilts. 

The other project I finished is the challenge pillow. It’s a bit of a collage, but that was the challenge. You can read about it here.

I’m late, yesterday was a bust! I accomplished NADA.  Mr Busy decided to take the master shower head apart to soak it in vinegar! (We really have hard water) you know how one thing leads to another when you start a project? Well, the rod came down, the shower curtain went in the washer, he decided we needed a new non slip may, I agreed of course. Off to the hardware store, lunch in the park and do the weekly grocery pick up! Only!!! I forgot to finalize the grocery order....so back to the store we will go today!  (Saturday) I used to hate shopping on Saturday, but with curbside pickup it's not bad at all! .
