TO-DO Tuesday #128

Good Morning fellow list makers! I’m joining Carol at Quilt Schmilt and friends to share my list and let you know how I did!




Last week
Feb 14- Feb 20
1. Complete the project for Project Quilting 14.4 “A Novel Idea!” ✅

2. Keep sewing PINK something. ✅.


Four string blocks and four crumb blocks. And all the brownish mauve-y pinks are gone!


3. Hexie stitching at night while watching Suits ✅


The stitching together is complete. I layered it with the backing and batting and got it sewed on all sides. It’s turned and pressed.  It is stitched closed and now it needs some quilting. Probably like I did the fall themed one. I stitched 1/4" in from the outside edge.  I used a different batting on this one. It's a bit poofier! I may have to do some quilting in the middle, but these don't get washed often. Will see how it looks after the edge stitching is complete. 

The back. It looks brown in the photo but it is a deep red. A Nancy Halvorsen Christmas fabric.

All the pink bits are sewn so:
1. Work on SAHRR. Flying geese from round 4 and square in a square from round 5 need to be done.
2. Post to February Table Scraps Challenges at The Joyful Quilter.
3. Stitch on November Year in the Garden block!

4. Write post for February OMG finish!

To Do Tuesday #127

I'm not feeling very successful this week. I keep telling myself it's not a race. One step at a time is good. 

I'm linking up with Carol at Quilt Schmilt to share my bit of progress. Better luck next week. I just "keep swimming" to quote Dory!

Feb 7th - Feb 13th. 

1. Spray baste and begin quilting Precarious.❌

2. Use up the fugly pink pieces. Make crumbs  and string blocks 1/2✅

3. Keep stitching the hexie topper in the evenings. ✅

1. I didn’t get this done. I got down on my knees to do my dining room floor near the door to the garage. There was a film or something that the mop wasn’t helping. I could barely stand up and hurt like “heck” the next day. I’m contacting a long armer today, she is closed on Sunday and Mondays to see if she will baste it for me. 🤞 I’ll keep you posted on this UFO!

2, I did make more pink crumbs and 2 strings. I posted to RSC, but there are still bits in that bag!!!

3. I am stitching on the Hexies. Laying on my lap on Sunday morning. 

The last row is three hexies, red, gold and green to be attached to the rest. It's getting closer.

It seems my body knows there is a birthday next week and it is complaining. My hands hurt and my knees and my shoulder hurt!  EGAD, I’m falling apart!

This week!

ScrapHappy Saturday ~ Dark or Bright Blue. Last Saturday in January

I finally have some blue sewing to show. And link to RSC 2023 at So Scrappy. Thanks Angela for continuing to host the fun and inspirational Linky party!

 

First my ABC Table Scraps Challenge. A recycled “gimme” tote,  turned into a personalized useable tote for more projects.  Read about my project Here

I also was able to make 2 string blocks and 3 crumb blocks in dark and bright blue. 

It feels really good to be back to my scrappy stash and my sewing machine!

I’ve also been working on my UFOs that were attached to Blue! 

Stitching on October for A Year in the Garden 

And putting large Hexies into a “circular” table topper!

   And the Hexagon Table Topper.  I might get this one done if I really “knuckle down”. Fingers crossed.

Row 1, 2 and 3 are stitched together. Need to add rows 4 & 5.  I’ve got 9 days!

To Do Tuesday #26

I’m checking in to share my to do list at Home Sewn By Us. Rosanne and Sue help keep me on track!I am so sorry to see them go, this is their last linky party!  "sad face"

Last week.    February 2 - February 8

1. Keep working on the hexies, because if I put it away it will never get done!

I got the rows all made. Started to put the middle row #3, with row #2

2. Work at completing 2 large yellow string blocks for CiL Jan/Feb Block drive. 

They are done and in the envelope to mail!

3. Construct some yellow hollow 9 patches 

Four finished...aiming for 7 total to make 12 when added to last year’s!

4. Start to think about a February Table Scraps Challenge entry!

I have a plan, and a beginning!  No photos yet though!  "wink"

To Do for next week  February 9 - February 15

1. Keep working on the hexie  table topper.

2. Fussy cut Noah’s Ark fabric for baby quilt. 

3. Make Wiggle Time Block for Noah's quilt

My focus this week is getting this top together.

January 2021 One Monthly Goal! Failed!!

 My goal set on January 2nd, was to get all 19 hexies sewn together to finish the Christmas table topper top . I did not accomplish that. After learning of my sisters death on January 8th , I lost my motivation. All the hexies are basted to their foundations. Rows 1, 2, 3 and 4 are complete.

Row 5 has piece 1 and 2 together, but the last hexie is still unattached.  And now all rows need to be joined together. I find I can do one side of the hexie in about 20 minutes. Each side is 2 1/8”  It sounds like that should go quickly but tiny tiny ladder stitches take me longer. And after an hour of ladder stitching, my left thumb is complaining, so I need a break. Then getting back to it proves difficult.  I know I’m whining. I apologize! 

Anyway you “spin it”, I failed at completing  my January OMG.  I will continue to work on it, and I’ll post as I make progress! I am linking up so you will know I did work on it but did NOT accomplish my goal.

We left California Monday morning, spent the night in Winnemucca NV. We are back on the road this morning. 

Last weeks list

1. Work on hexie project.

I don’t have photographic proof, my project bag is packed. But all the hexes are basted. 1,2 and 3 are stitched together. 4,5,6 and 7 are stitched in a row. That is as far as I got! 

2. Crochet in car! 

 Nope, I did nothing but watch the scenery go by. And lots of internal reflection. My sister fell in her bathroom Friday night and died. I am so very sad and heartbroken! 

Week of January 12 -18. 

There is no to do project . I’ll be AWOL for awhile. 

I’ll check back when I can!

Happy Tuesday Morning!  I'm joining Roseanne and Sue at Home Sewn By Use  to check in with my to-do list and see what the others are doing. I've not been very productive the last 2 weeks. It's more difficult at someone else's house and we have been doing more together stuff. A puzzle was finished, 

we finished watched Season 7 and 8 of "Homeland" on HULU!  Claire Danes and Mandy Patinkin. So good, so intense. 

We took a road trip up to the snowmobile area near Mt Shasta.  Not good photos, but it was a lovely ride. 

blurry, taken out the passenger side window. Not lots of snow, but some. 

 Last week...

1. Celebrate New Years!  ...

We found small lobster tails and very good steak! Basic basic, baked potato and salad + wine. 

I did the lobster under the broiler and DS grilled the steak on the deck. Yummy! 

2.  Make a page for 2021....

Next Week's List..

January 5th through January 11th

1. Work on OMG hexie project

2. Maybe crochet in the car - we are planning on starting home on the 10th.

2021 One Monthly Goal...January

One Monthly Goal! OMG 

We are trying to decide when it will be safe to leave California! We have been only the 3 of us for 6 weeks, with rare trips to the grocery store! But we are more concerned with the political temperament of the country! And the weather of course. There is always that concern! 

With that in mind, my OMG needs to be something I have with me already! So I will finish making the hexagons and getting them ladder stitched together.

To-Do List: December 22-December 27

1. Make at least 10 hexagons for Christmas themed table topper

10 hexies are done and the OMG post is linked up. 

2.  Do some stitching on the cross stitch Santa

You may not be able to tell that some stitching was done, cross stitch is like that!  But this is after:

You may notice a few more red spots on Santa’s apron, more black where one boot will be, a fourth green triangle shape that will be a tree and a bit of brown tree trunks! Do you need a magnifying glass? *grin*

3. Enjoy Christmas Day Zoom with family. Done!  Although, I have no photo, because the party was on our son's laptop.

1. Celebrate the New Year!

2. Get a new page on my blog for 2021!  I wasn't successful at 2020!

December OMG Finish Link Up

 Because I am away from my machine for the whole of December, my OMG must be handwork.. I have finished the embroidery for the Christmas designs for a table topper.  

I need to make the coordinating hexies.  I need 16 fabric hexies.  My goal is to get 10 done.  That is one more than half. There are 19 hexies in total. 

12-24-20

Ten fabric hexies and 3 embroidered hexies are done. Only the row that is Teal, green polka dots, embroidered star and teal plaid are joined together. But they are getting there. Six more hexies will be needed to complete the table topper. 

It will look sort of like this, only Christmas fabrics. I'll post a photo on my blog when it is completely finished and  we are back home.
