do you like to sing for yourself?


I used to, but not any more. Even I don’t like my voice now!

For others?       Oh heck no! See above!

or has anyone said you're not a singer? do you sing to babies?


This makes me think of a favorite story. When our first grandchild was a baby, she and her mom lived with us for awhile. Sometimes when her mama was working, I got to put her to bed. She was maybe 7-8 months old. ( ps, she’ll celebrate her 38th birthday, the 21st of this month) I was rocking her and singing a lullaby. She reached up her hand, patted my check and said, “no,no, no!”. I think she just didn’t want to go to sleep, but Grandpa says, to this day, that she didn’t want me to sing! 😄😳🎵🎶



other suggestions: do you make up songs during the day? Are you more comfortable singing high or low…… if I sing at all, I sing low! As my dad used to say, “ Sing low, so low no one will hear you!” 😳




Entertainment:


The Diplomat with Keri Russell. It’s on Netflix and know that there is another drama with the same name, a British political series, airing on Alibi.

This is a really good one. Slightly political but in a fun sort of way! I scoffed and giggled more than once. And be warned, adult language and brief nudity are involved!

We watched the second episode of Rabbit Hole on Monday night! We again came away at the end saying, “What??” It’s a thriller alright.


Spring has finally, just maybe, sprung in Wyoming. Not all parts though…this video from the Montana Highway Department

 

The Beartooth Highway is actually US Hwy 212, that runs from Red Lodge MT, to the northeastern entrance to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. It’s a fabulous drive in the summer!


Other miscellany


I received some Happy Mail on Monday. For signing up for Hands 2Help at Confessions of a Fabric Addict. It’s called the Nest! I am excited to use it and it’s PURPLE!

I was so excited that I started to open the packaging before I remembered to take a picture. 

  

There is a large horizontal space/slot, maybe for a rotary cutter! 

I’m going to use it to park my phone! I’m always laying down and forgetting where!

And Saturday, Cathy K @ Crazy by Design announced that I won a PDF copy of Preeti Harris’s new pattern A Fishy Story. Have you seen it? It’s awesome. Tuesday , the pdf arrived by email! I am going to have to look for some awesome fabrics like Preeti and Cathy used. So gorgeous!


Not much else going on here this week, except an in home visit by, not one but two, health insurance agents. They saved us $$ though, so we are happy!

I LIKE Thursday & Snack Food!

In September, Preeti Harris hosted a Topsy Turvy block hop for 5 lucky quilters. Turid of Den Syende himmel presented her version of Topsy Turvy on September 11th. I commented on Turid’s post. I liked her lime and aqua version. On September 23, I received an email informing me I’d won a selvage pincushion made by Turid! Then last week I received this cute little pincushion all the way from Norway!

  

  It’s made with selvages and embellished with a tiny pink heart-topped pin. Also tucked in the package was a card that shows a stunning hexagon quilt. And lastly an itty bitty card with even tinier strips of 

orange, red, and yellow fabrics  inset in the card. It makes my heart sing! Thank you,thank you, thank you, Turid! It’s fabulous!

We watched DOG starring   Channing Tatum on  Apple TV+ .  It was very good! Mr Busy wasn’t as pleased with it as DD and I. 

Last Saturday we made a trip to Rapid City So. Dakota to get some supplies for Mr Busy’s hobby! There is a great hobby store there, Who’s Hobby, that stocks the things he needs to complete his airplane! We came home "the long way" through Spearfish Canyon in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

Not lots of gold color, but we had a wonderful day. 

Wednesday it was windy and rainy , so I think we made a good choice to go last weekend!

This photo makes my heart full! I’m not a Vikings fan but my brother is! 

LeeAnna’s prompt for this week is: 

Do you have a favorite snack food? Or a chip?

My go-to snack is Chocolate! Chocolate anything! Right now we have chocolate covered peanut clusters with caramel  in the candy dish. There are also peppermint patties in a different candy dish I try to limit to one a day! 

Tortilla chips and salsa are a non guilty snack! I count out the chips, I can have 15 of the small round ones and salsa is “free”!

This week, LeeAnna gave us this prompt.   Is there a movie you watch over and over?

Nope!  I almost never watch a movie a second time.  One exception is THE POLAR EXPRESS 

and maybe , just maybe. Sleepless in Seattle.  

POLAR EXPRESS cause I'm a Christmas freek!  And a long time Tom Hanks fan. I love the animation in this movie and the story line. I watch every year if I can. 

Sleepless in Seattle :  because Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan are so cute together. I haven't seen this one in a very long time. I haven’t looked for it, usually I don’t have the TV all to myself, so I don’t choose. 

Other likes.

Mr Busy had a birthday. 

He had a birthday donut, 

then a visit from the great grandkids and our granddaughter, and birthday pie,  

a phone call from our son and a dinner out at Ruby Tuesday's. 

Monday, I received the Giveaway I won from Linda during her blog hop drawing. 

The prizes were in a lovely gift bag! 

Then I had to slip the charms out of their packaging and pet them a bit! Such cute prints and soft colors.

And Linda sent this cute Fall Pickup paper with a sweet handwritten note inside! 

I’ll be happily stitching on BOO CREW today with treasured friends. We are meeting in a different place this day. The library didn’t have a room available, then Monday they had a water line break and as of  Wednesday were still closed for cleanup! Yikes! I hope too many books weren’t damaged! ☹️😟

A Final Look at Purple!

Just a final look at some purple sewing for July! I’m sharing on ScrapHappy Saturday  ! Angela hosts this great party! It’s a favorite of mine!

Purple/neutral HST turned into zigzags! ⤵️

There was some purple sewn on the Triple Treat blocks, my current Leader and Enders project.⤵️

⤵️Two Ballerina Kittens got purple frames! 

And Jasmine and a Fairy Godmother ! 

There was the purple circle fiasco! ⬇️

And then there was this!  I didn’t make this! It came in the mail! A beautiful purple floral heart, a tiny pinwheel on that fabulous Tula Pink fabric I’ve been admiring on Diann’s blog! Bound in a great purple! The execution is perfection and the sentiment behind it is priceless! It was just what I needed this week! A lovely thank for a wonder clip cushion I sent to her.  Thank you Diann for your friendship.

Scrappy Happy Saturday 5-23-20

I made another green scrap basket.  When I made the first one, it was overflowing!

When I commented on The Joyful Quilters blog post on the May 9th Linky party,  Joy replied with a suggestion that we both make a green scrap basket. She suggested a race or a challenge.


On the 16th, I commented on her ScrapHappy Saturday post that I was going to make another basket and was she going to join me.  She accepted my challenge. So here is my basket.

This time I decided to make one in the lighter, brighter greens of the spectrum. That way I could sort the scraps, at least a little bit.

Here are both baskets, scraps sorted! Not quite full. A little  bit of growing room.

This week I worked on another scrappy project that I showed on Finished or Not Friday. So some of you will have seen this one already.  Apologies.

I pieced a backing and found a correct size batting, so now I just need to call my friend with a long arm machine. It will go to Jack's Basket.  All the fabrics were from stash!


Not sure what will happen in my sewing room this coming week. I have another batch of 9 patch and rails in more boy fabrics. Maybe I'll be able to find fabric to set them into a 36 x 36 quilt for Jack's Basket.
