I like Thursday #63

My likes this week will be a bit redundant for those of you who participate in I Like Thursday and To-Do Tuesday. Thanks LeeAnna for giving us this space to share our likes. Check out LeeAnnas blog, Not Afraid of Color

First.

I pre-ordered Emily Bailey’s new book on August 23rd. It released on September 14th and it was shipped and arrived on my front porch on Sept 21st.

In the mean time I commented on Kelly Young’s post about her newest book. I love and own her first book, Stash Statement. So I was interested in this book too! She had a contest. All you had to do was comment on her announcement post! I did and I won. Kelly shipped it out to me right away, but the package was not anxious to come to live in Wyoming! Finally on September 20th it arrived! I am glad. Now I am following along with her blog hop.

I finally got a chance to get a pedicure. I was the first one at the salon on Tuesday of last week.  One other young women came in while I was there. Easily social distanced. And the salon owner and I wore masks!

Fall is happening all around.

This is not my pumpkin haul, but a friend’s!

Some trees are turning and some are much more reluctant ! But our sky is always blue! Mostly!!

And the library saga in my community continues. Latest surprise. One county commissioner doesn’t want to increase funding to allow the library to read and review the , now 35 books,  that have been challenged in the last 2 months. In fact he suggested closing the library! Unbelievable!

Looks like I also need to spend some time weeding this flowerbed! Yikes!

This one is The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian by Sherman Alexie.⬆️

⬇️ And this is The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls.

I’m proud of the library staff for standing up to this bully and defending the library’s  role to supply diversification in library materials! I certainly don’t want someone telling me what I can and cannot read. And although, I don’t have teenage children, I did at one time. And I was open to talk about all the books they were interested in .

Stay Busy and Stay Happy and Healthy!

I almost forgot to share my plum crostata. We had some plums from the grocery store that were less than stellar. Tossed with a little bit of sugar and some flour and cinnamon, baked in a refrigerated pie crest.
Quick and yummy!

  2. Good for your library staff, and you, for standing up for readers! I read The Glass Castle a long time ago, and thought it was sad, but fascinating. Beautiful blue sky, and changing leaves - one of my favorite seasons!

  4. My parents for a few years were voracious readers. My dad and mom were reading many native authors. They always said that Sherman Alexie's books were very tough in the topics. Seriously? Close the library? People who wan to ban books want to control people's thinking and creativity. Hurray for the book win, and what an interesting book. I am not a crumb quilter and totally appreciate people who are.
