The one above had some red and orange but also this ornamental cabbage that is green and fuchsia. I've always liked this plant. I've never planted it at my own house. Have you?
Our small city has many planters that are installed at corners along several streets. Each planter is adopted by an organization or business or even an individual. The city provides the plantings, waters and fertilizes each one. It is the responsibility of the organization or in this case the business ( ReMax Realtors) to weed, prune and maybe decorate the planter. This one has a Scarecrow for the season.
Mr. Busy mowed the lawn on Monday and while he was outside, our neighbors to the north of us brought over a small watermelon and a jar of homemade chokecherry jelly. Oh my goodness! Yummy!
I'm sewing a bit more on my Autumn embroidery. New seasons of our favorite prime time shows have helped give me time to sit still and do this.
Stay Busy and Stay Happy and Healthy! (Wear your masks when unable to social distance or when you need to be indoors. It's the right and the kind thing to do!)
sometimes I think Covid is a bit why some feel kind of down - it didn't bother me mentally last year but it has dragged on so long that I think a lot of us are not handling it the same way we did at first. We lost our first family member to Covid recently - my husbands half sister, they were not close and lived miles apart as well and as adults had only seen each other a couple times in 40 years but it does hit home doesn't it. You go shopping and few wear mask. I will be so glad to get my third moderna shot in a couple weeks, my doctor told me to wait 6 months from the second (immune system problems) I will feel safer.
ReplyDeleteThose planters around town are so pretty! Our city does that, too, and I love seeing them. Hooray for the last tomatoes and for generous neighbors, too. I do think (like Karen said above) that Covid dragging on so long has worn us down, so there's lingering worry and sadness, too. Have a happy Thursday, Judy!
ReplyDeleteHi Judy! I had to get my car serviced after work today and I was the only person wearing a mask. The.only.one. With cases rising every day, I have half a mind to not go back to the dealership. But enough of that - thanks for sharing the pretty pictures of your city landscape. ReplyDeleteOh that ornamental cabbage is fabulous! The city planters are gorgeous. Thanks for the piece on grief. I have lost another of the ladies I used to sew with on Tuesdays---we still haven't managed to get back together. What was such a shock I guess her new great grandson passed, her sister in Washington state and she all died the same day. We are wondering if she heard all the news on top of her husband being in the hospital and her heart just gave up.

ReplyDeleteSuch pretty flowers to decorate your town! I always like it when, driving through a town, I see that the people that live there care about the beauty and the reputation of where they live. So nice! I'm sorry you've had a bit of the blues this week but know that we are also here for YOU! Your embroidery is a piece of beauty that your hands have made. Wonderful!
