Excuse the date, I stole this graphic from a friend’s post last week! 😆 The sentiment is still valid! This is a place to share likes in our lives. Things that are not necessarily quilting or crafting related.
I started the blocks for Preeti’s Positivity QAL. I like the fabric I choose for the plus signs. I was pleased to be able to use a Bali Pops bundle that had been in my stash for a really long time! But as happens with many pre-cuts, the strips are not consistent, so I’m having to fudge the seam allowances! I don’t like that!
Finally, I really like having a handy talented DH. I’ve had this concrete birdbath base for many years. The birdbath was an anniversary present shortly after we moved into this house in 1988! But someone stole the bowl off the top of it one dark winter night. That’s a story for another time! I’ve perched pots of petunias on it, for awhile there was a gazing ball! But now it will become a birdbath again.

The garden walk sounds lovely! I really like your Positivity blocks, but frustrating to have the Bali pops be inconsistent sizes. Your hubby is definitely a handy guy! Glad you'll have a birdbath again. Ours was taken out by a tree branch during that big snowstorm in March, so we made a new one, too. It's hard to find any these days that aren't plastic!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you! I like the concept of the pre-cuts but they are so frustrating with the inconsistent cuts. I actually have a jelly roll that are all 3" wide. Just lucky? Or did someone lose 1/2" off theirs? Who knows?!?! So nice to have a helpful, handy hubby. You're going to have some happy birdies in your neighborhood!
ReplyDeleteI think the jelly rolls/bali pops are the worse for not being even - they really need to think of a more accurate way to cut those some will be 2.5 but then some go down to 2 in the middle of the strips. Nice birdbath - yes everything is plastic now
ReplyDeleteI love your birdbath story. What a great picture with the chive blossoms in the foreground. Your plus blocks are great.
ReplyDeleteyes to the birdbath!!! stealing a birdbath bowl... shame...the sunset is spectacular. I watched someone do a landscape quilt yesterday from a sunset photo... it looked quite easy and was so pretty. I could see your photo done into a quilt.
ReplyDeleteYes to having a talented hubby and having a birdbath again. Mine is used quite a lot. I just love all the colours in that gorgeous photo. Lovely blocks, Judy, and being able to dip into your stash for the pretty fabrics. Enjoy the stitch along!
ReplyDeleteHi Judy! What a beautiful garden. Those flowers really do highlight the purple in the sunset! LOVE your Positivity blocks. The plus sign fabric looks so cool. I also hate that about precuts - that you have to recut or adjust your seam allowances to use them. And they're not even consistent across the same precut! Yippee to DH fixing the bird bath. I am 100% certain that the birdies are very happy to have it back, once they get used to it again. Who on earth would steal the bowl?!! ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteYay for a birdbath. Have fun with your QAL!
ReplyDeleteYour Positivity blocks look positively wonderful! Why would anyone steal the bowl of a birdbath? I'm glad you are getting your birdbath back!
ReplyDeleteYay for the birdbath! Good grief, why in the world would someone steal the bowl??? Hope all the rest of your Bali pops are consistent. :)
ReplyDeleteThe garden photo is beautiful. Happy Bird Bath!
ReplyDeleteYour positivity blocks look great! I like the plus sign fabric you choose! So glad you will have your bird bath again. What kind of person steal the basin? so weird... Have a safe and happy weekend!
