July’s One Monthly Goal 2021

 My One Monthly Goal for July 2021 has two parts. They both are small and doable! 

I got this small quilt back from the long arm quilter on Thursday, July 1st. 

Part 1.   Get a binding on Go Your Own Way!

I have an Edyta Sitar quilt from a local QAL from years ago! The center is made! One border is appliquéd. Fabric is selected, border strip is cut, but I need to prepare and appliqué the vine and flowers on border #2.

 Good Morning friends! Here it is Thursday again! And it’s July 1st! And it’s our opportunity to share likes and good things in our lives. A chance to be grateful! I’m joining friends at LeeAnna’s blog Not Afraid of Color, to share this morning!

Every Wednesday I wonder if I can put together a post for I Like Thursday. And most every week I am successful.

 I’m thankful for people who “listen”! Sometimes it’s just a little thing. Lamenting about finding a top for the birdbath pedestal. My friend found a plastic birdbath bowl while shopping and thought of me! It’s perfect! 

We had a few days of rain and lots cooler temperatures. The rain was welcome. Though this wasn’t enough to stave off the extremely dry conditions in our area!  Our county commissioners have enacted a ban on selling and using fireworks! The county sponsored fireworks display has been canceled. I know that some people are mad, but it’s not worth loss of life or someone’s home!

I trimmed one pot of petunias. Allowing the geranium in the middle to get some sun. It bloomed and the white petunias are coming back,

 Our tomato plants have small green tomatoes! I’m excited! Nothing like fresh from the vine summer tomatoes,

Ooh! Here are 3 more!

Some special mail came on Tuesday.

They contained Original art work for my fridge from my great grands in Florida

Today, I am slow stitching with friends! We meet at our library! We bring our own lunch! Much fun! Much talking and laughing happens! 

My long armer is a stitching friend. She’ll have my Follow Your Own Path ready for me. Then there will be binding!

Follow Your Own Path Quilt Parade

 This is the first QAL I have participated in. Unlike some other participants, I was drawn to this one because of the original colors Sandra chose. 

This the printed page from the pattern in Modern by the Yard, Bernatex's ezine! Issue 15 if you are interested in looking at it. 

I don’t have a large selection of solids. I’m working on changing that. But I did have a piece of aquamarine purchased for a Noah’s Ark baby quilt that didn’t make the cut. It was just the right amount for the baby quilt size. I pulled fabrics from my stash. First the purple, then the orange.  Then I remembered a stack of fat quarter solids in a project box waiting, waiting for a version of Bright Birches by Amanda Jean Nyberg. So I pulled a dark turquoise. A quick shopping trip and I had a start! 

Arrows were made.

Background was added and borders auditioned. My shadow are above the arrows! Cause that's how they happened! 

 

Borders finalized! Very bright, and I think gender neutral! 

 Backing? Maybe a piece of orange minky! 

Final bundle. Ready to be delivered to the long arm quilter. She’ll get it Thursday. I told her I’m in no hurry!  It would have been great to have it totally finished, but when you rely on another quilter, schedules happen.

I continue to make a list and check it off! Sometimes I’m successful and sometimes I am not! But SOME  progress is still progress! Thank Chris for providing a place to be accountable! I’m linking up with ChrisKnits! 

1. Check Follow Your Own Path QAL at mmm.quilts.    

 

Final parade is..June 15th! 

2 Binding on Garlic Knots!   In progress, on side 4, all 4 corners are done!

3. Finish binding May Table Scraps entry and write a post .

4. Rearrange for solids.     This is what got me in trouble. I started to clean out some drawers in a small chest that was my mother’s. Down a rabbit holes of memories I fell! 

5. Make sure I am ready for Positivity QAL.  Not done! So Many Decisions!  I thought I knew how I was going to lay it out! Hmmmm!

Next week.

1. Decide on June OMG. ( Geese Migration or Precarious) and post!

2. Make at least one purple hollow 9 patch!

3. Sew some Positivity blocks for the QAL

4. Construct the last 2 CiL blocks and get them sent off to Tammy!  May-June block drive.

5. Make a label for the Garlic Knots Quilt

One Monthly Goal May Finish Link Up

 

My goal for May was to complete the baby quilt size of Follow Your Own Path at Sandra's QAL to at least a quilt top. 

It is done to that point! 

It is not quilted!  I have to wait til next month to be able to get it quilted.

I’m seriously considering using this orange minkee on the back!  Too much? The colors are pretty intense on the front!  Or maybe I will go to look for a flannel at JoAnns or Hobby Lobby. My choices are limited, this weekend. Our other LQS is closed for the Memorial Day holiday.

I'm still working on them little by little, but I did cut some to make a big block to see how it looks. I like it.

1. Check Sandra's post regarding Follow Your Own Path QAL!  I won't be able to get this one to the quilter and bound very soon.

2. Get binding on Garlic Knots and get it sent off to recipient. 

3. Finish binding Table Scraps Challenge for May and write a post and post it!

4. Reorganize my solids.  There are too many for the small shoebox tote I started with!

5. Check Preeti's blog regarding the Positivity Plus QAL..  Make sure I am ready!

It’s still May! Today is our oldest granddaughter’s birthday! She is 36!    

Beautiful and the mother of 2. Yup, that means we have great grandchildren! In fact, we have 5! 

And now, here is my not finished project!

The borders will go quickly....then I need to find a backing. Then a quilter!

And then I have another quilt to bind. But that’s for another Friday!

I LIKE Thursday #44

 Good Morning and welcome to my post to I LIKE THURSDAY! 

It’s finally starting to seem like spring in NE WY. 

A close-up of some wild plums dividing a neighbor’s property with the one next door. When we moved in, there was a church next door. They were there for a lot of years but finally moved. Then the building was empty off and on. There was some vandalism inside, nothing too bad but it made me uneasy. Now it is an Events Center. A place to hold wedding receptions, graduation parties, baby showers, etc. I think it’s a bit overpriced, but then, I’m a tightwad! 

Anyway, long story short, 3 years ago, the other neighbor who has a garden, told me to help myself to the wild plums. The building was unoccupied at the time, so I felt ok sharing with birds. I made several, 15 I think,  jars of jelly!

More plum blossoms! I’ll be reluctant to help myself, now that the property is occupied! I may get brave in late summer and call the owners to ask permission to harvest a bucket or two!

The owner of the other property is readying his ground for a garden. Along the fence are tulips! Finally blooming. You can see, I pointed my phone through the chain link fence. He has a lovely little plot, Mr Busy and I enjoy looking at it on our neighborhood walks. 

I did some sewing this week. Last two Geese Migration blocks are done. The photo really shows how I was using what I had. Some of those geese nearly disappear. It will be fine in the whole scheme of things! 

As soon as I get my Table Scraps topper done, 

I’ll start on getting those geese set in a quilt! 

Well, first I have to get these arrows all together! 

Then maybe I should redo my design wall. It’s looking a bit droopy! 

It’s almost warm enough to have coffees on the front deck! 

Today I am at my semi annual doctor’s appt. The appointment card I got last fall says 7:45 am for a Chronic Illness Visit!  I guess high blood pressure is a chronic illness...but meds have it under control!

The text reminder that came Tuesday, stated 8:15 am. Guess they think it will take me 30 minutes to do the paperwork!   Not! !     This isn’t my first rodeo!

3. Cut sashings for Growing Up Odd. To make sure there is enough! I did cut some, but not all!  So no photo......soon though!

It's a short list and I'm sure I'll do other things. There are strawberry beds to clean out. Partially done! 

There is a whole box of vintage linens that my brother thought I should have. I need to clean them and decide what to do with them. Nope!  Ideas still swirling in my head.

There may be a checkbook to balance, ✅laundry to do, ✅meals to cook. ✅You know! so....

3. Cut sashings for Growing Up Odd

And I should straighten, organize or just plain clean up my sewing room, it’s getting ahead of me! And there is a new quilt along I want to participate in beginning May 30th.
