Finished or Not Finished Friday!

Not really a finish, but all the blocks are finished. I made scrappy sprout blocks in 2019 during the RSC19. Some months I made more, some months less. I didn’t really have a layout in mind. Last week I opened the project box and started putting them up on the design wall. I roughly followed the ROY G BIV.

Red, Orange Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet!

This was arrangement I settled on after several revisions!

There will be four brown blocks at the bottom. There are 3 empty places in the right column. Red, between the pink and orange, yellow below the orange and green below that!

So now they are done. I still need to decide on sashings between the rows. I’m thinking light Grunge.
Maybe Manilla, Vanilla, or Sugar Cookie!

They hopefully will stay on the wall, I will get the sashing fabric and get it put together. Fingers crossed.

I LIKE Thursday. #14

Good Morning everyone! I’m going to try to find a few likes today! And then you can hop on over to Not Afraid of Color and check out LeeAnna's likes this week. There she has a list of other bloggers who LIKE to link up.

Beside My Chair! (or bedside this week)

You see a Kindle plugged in (green), underneath the Kindle is a red spiral notebook. It's my Word Journal. I keep track of words I find while reading that I don't know for sure. Then I look them up and record the definition and where I found them. What book, what page! There is an iPad plugged in(pink). A box of tissue ( Puffs with lotion), hand cream (Working Hands, the only one that works on my split thumb in the winter), lip balm (any kind will work, I pick up freebies at hotels, the dentists office, any where I see one), and Icy Hot rub. I use this and many others though my favorite is a locally produced balm called Unker's! Magic in a jar!. Last but not least my favorite item. A ceramic dog face I made for my grandmother years ago. I got it back when she passed. It holds my glasses at night.

Also beside my bed is this bag of books. Some I have read and some I have not. I made the bag 2 years ago. Actually, I made two. I donated one to the silent actions that supports our county library.

I put up some more Fall/Halloween decor.

I don't have a kitchen quilt, but this table runner works. I need a Fall/Halloween Kitchen quilt. I have this large basically blank wall( well it has wallpaper in very dated blue and mauve flowers! Ugh!)

This little pillow is on the living room couch. Made from the leftovers from the table runner above.
and

this pillow. A stitchery I did several years ago. It doesn't sit very well on our leather couch, so the photo was taken outside on the back deck.

This quilt was at the quilt show last weekend. I have that panel. I like this setting. There were lots of quilts. Here is one....

On Ringo Lake. A Bonnie Hunter pattern, executed by my friend Jean. She won the Patti Knotts Award. A coveted award in our local quilt show. Patti Knotts and her mom started the quilt show in our small community 38 years ago. They are both gone now, and there is a committee to keep it going.

I guess that's about all this week. I am liking the warm temperatures and the cool nights. That's why fall is my favorite time of year. I leave you with another picture of Halloween socks. There is a witch on the ankle and the words "heh" "heh" in black and orange.

So now you probably have TMI about me.

October one monthly goal

My One Monthly Goal for October 2020 is to make a yellow scrap basket. Yellow is the October color for Rainbow Scrap Challenge and all other colors are caught up. I don’t have lots of yellows, but I must make a basket. I am going to try a new way to do mine this month. In the Joyful Quilter way! Wish me luck with the math I’ll need to do, to make it fit on my shelf!

I have begun!

Happy Yellow ScrapHappy Saturday!

I’m late getting my post out today! This morning I worked at our annual NEW (North East Wyoming) Quilt Show. I sat and counted the people as they left, my friend Connie, counted the people as they came in. Our venue is an extraordinary county facility And one of the requirements for use was.., only 250 people at a time. That was not a problem this morning. We had steady walk-ins, but also, people looked, shopped and left.

I took some photos...not many! I didn’t stand among others very long.

My friend Jeans’s Garlic Knots from Bonnie Hunter. She lives in a fifth wheel camper while her new house is being built on the family ranch! She stitched this in her little sewing nook! And there is yellow!

Yellow in this string quilt too! It was started at a retreat last October and finished in Alabama over the winter. My friend Marva and her hubby are snowbirds. She sews in the camper too!  She pieced 4.5 quilts while in Alabama last winter.

I did put my scrappy sprouts from 2019 on the design wall! I rearranged the colors several times and finally ( maybe) settled on this. I need one more each of red, yellow and green. And 2 more brown.

All these parts are cut and yellow is done!

I started “making fabric” for a yellow scrap baskets! I’ve just about used up all the crumbs, I’ll have to cut into chunks and bigger pieces before long.

And I made a yellow and aqua block for Covered in Love. Kat at Kat and Cat Quilts.and Mary of Zippy Quilts call them Fiddlesticks.

I like these, which is why I bought Amanda Jean Nyberg's pattern called Bright Birch Trees.

Kat changed the directions a bit and I  had a bit of trouble with the first(aqua) one. It starts out with a 14  inch square. You add strips of pieced fabric then cut to 12.5” for use. I put the strips too far apart and ended up with a piece too large to cut back to 12.5 and not cut off the pieced strips. So I fixed it! It's OK, but I learned some things.

And I leave you with a couple more quilts from the quilt show that have yellow in them.

This string block cut into circle is so cool. The yellow really pops!

I'm linking up with Angela's ScrapHappy Saturday.  it's 8:02 pm Wyoming time, 10:02 pm Florida time.

Finished or Not Finished Friday Small and Done!

Today I can share a couple of finishes. Not quilts, but finishes none the less!

The Joyful Quilter and I had a mini challenge to finish a red scrap basket by the last ScrapHappy Saturday in September. In fact, we've done it 4 times so far.  We both got it done!  Here is mine.

If you don't follow Joy, you really should! She is one busy lady and she writes a fabulous post!

Here is a link to the post about Joyful’s basket.  And a photo!  She uses a different technique than I do!  In fact, I may give her technique a try on the November-December challenge.

And then I decided I needed a dark red scrap basket. So, I made slab blocks and voila!

And I also finished my One Monthly Goal. A Challenge designed by my friend Kathy. Use two item from a received brown paper bag and make something to match a weird holiday, from a list she provided.

You can read all the details, here!  and here!

I LIKE Thursday #13

I’m joining bloggers at Not Afraid Of Color. LeeAnna  gives us the opportunity to share some likes every Thursday.

Beside my chair.

This cute black and orange checked pumpkin mug rug. It's got a scrap of batting and some stitched curved lines to make the pumpkin shape and the edges are raw and cut like a rag quilt. I didn't make it, it was a party favor at a fall luncheon I attended years ago. And my book of DISCOVERIES.  I love to look at junk journals and bullet journals on PINTEREST. I ordered some dot lined inserts online and added a piece of scrapbook paper for a cover. I keep track of what movies we have watched on Netflix, Prime, and Hulu and what series we watch and which episode we are one. Also this I where I jot a quilt idea or hint I come across while reading blogs.

It's Fall so....

I'll be wearing my "jamma shoes" a lot more. We have mostly hardwood floors in the upstairs and my feet are always cold. But you know what they say, "cold feet warm heart"!!  When our 3 year old great granddaughter lived with us last winter, she started calling my slippers, Jamma shoes! I think she notices that I wore them with my pajama pants!

And now that it's October, I'll also be sporting my Halloween socks.  These are my favorites. I'm not at all a fan of spiders, but these are subtle enough to wear to work. I don't go to work anymore. But I still wear them in October!

Another thing that is my fall go-to is soup!

Early in the week, I made my version on Weight Watchers (or WW, as they prefer to be called) No Points Vegetable soup.

This is before it had cooked awhile so the zucchini and the summer squash are still pretty colorful and raw. It is really good and one of our favorites.

A friend called me for this recipe, also a favorite. It makes a bunch and reheats well.

I have been making scrap baskets over the last couple of months. I have been trying to get all the colors done. I have light and dark blue, light and dark green. This month I made a red one and then discovered I needed a dark red or burgundy one also.

My full red one and still a tote of darker reds.

So now the burgundy one is done. Next is yellow, then brown/tan, maybe blacks and grays and multi darks. I like them a bit better than the lidded plastic shoeboxes. Well, they are prettier at least!

That is more than you needed to know, probably!

I'll be back next week. Go check out the other bloggers over at LeeAnna's   Not Afraid of Color.
