I Like Thursday #100

Not much to share this week. 

I did get some of my July decor hung up on my cleaning day, Wednesday!

The first bowl pillow, finished,

and the last 12  blue and white HST are on the design wall!

Our daughter's kitty is becoming accustomed to the house. He's feeling more relaxed. Instead of hiding in his "kennel". 

DD is feeling a bit better, but still suffering from residual COVID symptoms.  Shortness of breath, heart racing, BP spikes.  It's disheartening. 

I planted some flowers, but  Wednesday afternoon we had a hailstorm. Now they are not photo worthy!

So sad!

  These were safe under the eaves,  

so survived the wind and heavy rain that accompanied the hail!

July A month for celebrating!

Hello July! It’s getting hot in Wyoming! Dry and hot! All fireworks are forbidden in our city and county! The huge display usually are out county events venue has been canceled! 

I’ve gotten the homemade decorations out! 

This pillow was completed last year using a pattern for a Christmas star! I thought it would be great in RWB.

There is a RWB table rammer made from a selection of charm square on my small buffet. Still the old photo of my Dad, my sister and me. Some candles made by my sister, a wooden square given to Mr. Busy by our great grands when  they lived here. It’s RWB so I always display it in July. It makes me happy!

Best Ever Papa!

I have a place behind Mr Busy’s recliner that I display the Kathy Schmitz monthly blocks. This one is a favorite! 

Of course there is the Patchabilities banner to the left of the front coat closet! 

And I added the wall hanging on the adjoining wall. It’s a patriotic theme too! It says,” In the good olde summer thyme”

This year I’ve been hanging a kitchen quilt! Some have remained for more than one month, but this one will probably only hang in July. I made it a long time ago. It was my first attempt at quilting a motif or shape. I traced around a star and free motioned it! Wiggly, but ok!  It was made during my Thimble berries era! And it goes with the dated blue and mauve tiny flower wall paper on this wall in my kitchen! 

Do you remember the red crumb-block type table topper I made for May! It was especially for the small round patio table on our deck? Well, I put this on the back! It’s doing double duty this month! 

 

And after nearly two years I got a pedicure! Nothing fancy, just red! My feet loved it! 

I’ve sewn nothing in the dark blue fabrics. Maybe I’ll switch it up and add in some dark neutrals, some brown or blacks.

June OMG Finished in time for the 4th!

Hip Hip Hooray!  I finished my June OMG. It is complete with zippered backing!!  All from stash except the 24" zipper. I ordered 50 - 24" zippers. Now I have no excuse for not doing a zippered backing or anything else for that matter.

I have even found a pillow form...but it's not as big as I would like. So as soon as I feel safe going shopping for what really is "non essential", I will look for a bigger one. 

It doesn't look too bad, just a little wimpy in the corners. My points look cut off, but that's the plumpness of the pillow.

Now One Finish and One Not So Much

It's Friday and the 13th!  I'm not usually superstitious, but this is turning out to be a pretty weird Friday!


I awoke at 4:30 am. MDT. It's pretty dark, but my next door neighbor is warming up his company truck to go to work. I had been tossing and turning in the bed for a bit, so I just decided to stay up. I made myself a cup of coffee and proceeded down to the family room to finish sewing the binding on the first of two Easter Bunny Mini quilts or table runner.

So that is my finish for this morning.

Itr's partly clouding out side today. So sorry about the shadow. I quilted this one myself. I usually can mangage to quilt table runners and other small items. I did a serpentine stitch in the borders. It shows pretty well in the above photo.

Then I spied a stencil hanging on my bulletin board above my cutting table. Not sure why I have it. Maybe it was a gift, maybe I bought it thinking I might do it someday. So,  I decided to try. What to mark the fabric with. I have chalk pencils, they did not work. I have white marking pens from Clover, a pink Mark  B Gone, a double ended Mark B Gone and a Blue Fine Point Mark B Gone.  (the newest of all).  The double ended pen and the pink one are now in the trash. They were dried up and/or blunted.  I used the white one on the blue fabric. and the blue fine point on the other three fabrics.

I stitched with matching thread in each different bunny head and echo stitched around the inside of the ears. I like it! Not perfect by any means, but a step forward for me!

This one goes to my granddaughter and her family. They just moved to Florida and I hope it looks a little "beachy" !

Number 2 is on my machine. The serpentine stitching is done. Except for the lengthwise border, I'll do that last.   Now to mark the bunnies.  The background for this one is sunflowers. This granddaughter lives in Vermont. She could use the sunny flowers. It's been a long winter for her and her beau!

I'll be linking this up to Alycia's Finished or Not Friday post. These 2 are my OMG for March, so it looks like I'll make that goal too. And in time to get both in the mail to my girls.
I am going to try to get one more finished. I have a granddaughter in Phoenix also, can't leave her out!.

Slab Blocks Are Green and Wonky

We are home from nearly 2 weeks of road trip and visiting our 2 kids. Our son lives in Phoenix and our daughter lives in Lakewood Colorado.

We had a great time visiting, celebrating birthday and seeing extended family. Two of our great grands live in Phoenix too!.

I finally had time to pull some dark or sage green and make some slab blocks for RSC18.

These have not been trimmed to size yet. I am still on the fence as to what size I want them.  You see that pumpkin peeking at the edge.?

I have been wanting to do this quilt for a long time. It is Halloween Haberdashery from Melissa Mortenson of Polka Dot Chair. So when she had it on sale and was offering a quilt along, I purchased the pattern. I thought I had lots of Halloween fat quarters. And enough low volume fabric for background.

I printed the pattern, because I purchased a PDF from her website. And gathered my fabrics. This is what I accomplished before we left for vacation. 

I think I will just work on it a bit at a time. The pattern is somewhat time consuming for the hats. And maybe I'll end up with a smaller quilt than the pattern.  So another WIP to add to my list. And I need to gather more low volume prints in white with black or gray. It won't be done for this Halloween, but maybe next year. 

That's all for this week and next week is our retreat. I should have lots of photos to show at least! "smile"

ps: we listened to two audio books on our road trip. Both Michael Connelly , Bosch series.  The Wrong Side of Goodbye and The Burning Room were both really good and both read by Titus Welliver (  actor who played Bosch on the Netflix series)
