ScrapHappy Saturday! Some Limey Green!

 Finally some green sewing! I’m linking up with Angela at ScrapHappy Saturday! My sewing of light or lime greens has taken a backseat sort of. 

   Lime green Christmas!

A lime green Christmas project! Part of a charm pack called Holly Jolly by Sandy Gervais for Moda. I picked the ones that read “green” then added a few red with green and a couple that are light with green and red and aqua! Added sashings of some left over snowflake fabric from my stash. 

 

Now I’m piecing chunks of light, lime green for the back. The larger piece on the right that looks like a brick wall is left over from my son’s 50th birthday quilt. It’s a Latifah Safire fabric called Grafic! I love it! 

Is the border on this bird and pine cones table runner “light “ olive green? I think it is. “ It’s my story and I’m stick in’ to it!”  

These two will hopefully get to the finding stage today! Then I can Sunday Slow Stitch tomorrow. 

Mr Busy and I got our Moderna boosters yesterday. I feel fine, just a bit achy! Taking it easy today and tomorrow! Lots of fluid, rest and maybe some Tylenol! The young nurse who gave us our shots told is our county was the least vaccinated with the most cases! I had heard that, but she confirmed it! I’m pretty ashamed of some of my fellow Wyomingites lately!

ScrapHappy Saturday…… finally some orange

 

Happy Last Weekend of September. 

I'm linking up with Angela at So Scrappy , a day late.  Having a bit of an issue with Blogger and photos!  

This Fall Banner is hung.

 

And this little one at my front door. It’s a favorite!

I needed a pedicure so opted for orange. The salon I go to has the customer pick the color of polish from the rack on the wall! This one looked orange in the bottle. Looks more melon on my toes. 

The nail tech, who is the owner of the shop is trying to do it all by herself. She was on a mission, hence the tiny bruise and sore spot at the top of my left big toe! I didn’t really notice till I put closed toe shoes on!

I’m sewed 3 orange cats

And mama cat is in the works!

And on my walk this morning….it’s beautiful here…64 degrees at 8AM!   I saw this little tree…

Mid September ScrappyHappy Saturday

 

There has been a little bit of orange sewing! 

The final block for Covered in Love’s current block drive is under the needle. Even my clipper is orange!

The other 7!  I need to stay-stitch around each one! I discovered I had stitched several with a larger stitch length than I like. I’m sure these blocks get handled a lot before they get to the quilter that puts them into a top, I don’t want the seams coming apart!

The little hexagonal table topper is complete. I'll write a full post on the 24th when Joy's Linky Party goes live. 

There is some orange in this Autumn stitchery. Two years ago my group of stitchers had an exchange. Everyone who wanted to participate,  committed to bringing one traced design for each participant! Very much like a Christmas cookie exchange. That year there were 12 stitchers who wanted to be included! This one was from my friend Aggie! 

And the top of my string box has a Fall vibe!

Not much orange. I did find these flowers as I walked near our library on Thursday.

ScrapHappy Saturday. Orange and other colors

There was some orange sewing happening! 

I pulled out my Halloween fabrics basket. I have lots of fat quarters, every thing from spooky houses to pumpkins and scarecrows. Different colors, not much coordinated. But I think these bigger pieces look good together. I need a lighter yellow or gold for contrast.

And keeping on theme…….

On my walk on Tuesday, this guy was stunning himself/herself on the sidewalk. I didn’t get close enough to decide what species. The body was as big as my thumb! Ewww! 

I couldn’t resist this photo of a neighbor’s sunflowers, ready for harvest! The sky was so blue that day! 

And the centers of the sunflowers ripe with seeds. The birds are definitely happy!

That is all for me this week. A slow sewing week. I'm still working on CiL blocks. Golds and Dark Reds. 

Today, Mr Busy and I are off on a road trip. A neighboring town ( 90 miles away) is having their annual Fly-In. So we are going to see the airplanes.  

It is 9-11 so there is probably a parade. I know one is scheduled here in our city.

ScrappyHappy Saturday #1 for September

 

I’m debating! Because I concluded my hollow 9 making, should I start a new RSC block to carry into 2022 or should I just make crumb blocks for the parts department? Still no decision! So I started gathering fabrics for the current Covered in Love block drive! Fall Hues! Tall nine patch. Seems I can’t get away from making some variation of a 9-patch! LOL! 

I pulled my orange bucket and then my gold Basket (horrors,  I haven’t made a gold scrap basket!)

Whoo Hoo!  Orange is the new color for September!!

And my dark red/ maroon bucket and my light neutrals or "putty" colors.

I cut various 2.5" by 4.5" rectangles!

and with my copy of the instructions, cut 4.5" by 8.5" larger rectangles. I think I have enough to make 8 blocks. That is my usual MO!

And then the first block.  Mostly maroon and putty here. I'll be sure and mix the rest up a bit.

Aqua Revisited! 2021

 

Aqua didn’t get much attention this month.

There are no Aqua blocks in my Hollow Nine Patch layout! I'm saving those. 

There was no Aqua in my positivity quilt….blue but not Aqua!

I did make 5 Aqua question mark blocks for Full Stop! 

There is a bit of Aqua in the cross stitched baby quilt I worked on! 

My cutting mat is Aqua! LOL!,

And my table scraps project is mostly Aqua , maybe more Teal with a splash of orange…’cause! 

And if too squint your eyes a little bit…this sunset looks pale Aqua! 

I like Aqua! It’s a good color for this “used to be redhead”. I was just working on some other projects!

Pray for our troops and the Afghan refugees who were our allies! One of the 13 enlisted men who were lost was from Wyoming! He was 20 years old! His name was Rylee McCollum and he was a soon-to-be dad! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 

Aqua! Hooray!

 

I'm late to the party today!  I was feeling out of sorts the first part of the week, after my wasp sting!  I was achy and just not myself.  I forced myself to walk mornings and evenings, and I did laundry and cooked and cleaned, but just couldn't sit in my sewing room.  

I'm feeling much better yesterday and today. So I decided to make some aqua/teal/turquoise question mark blocks for Full Stop!

These are on my extra design wall in the basement hallway!  Poor lighting!  Apologies. They aren't sewn together yet, and I think I will make at least one more. I sort of like an odd number in each row. 

My main design wall has these little RSC  blocks on it.  I've been doing these for 2020 and 2021. I have enough for another quilt. 

I was thinking about sashing, but I think that might break up the diagonal effect!  What say you?

My purples and dark blues are sort of similar, but I like the slash of dark! No aqua/teal blocks here. They will go with the brown ones for a separate quilt! Not sure what that will look like, but I'm going to experiment after this one becomes a flimsy!

ScrapHappy Saturday Last of the Darks!

 

Happy Last Saturday of July to everyone!  I did sew with a bit of dark blue this week.

Star points on the flag block. This is #5 for Covered in Love's July/August Block Drive. If you want to learn more about this wonderful organization, click here. 

Then the star block was bordered in dark blue grunge to bring it up to 12.5" unfinished. 

I also cut and joined the 8 strips of dark blue batik for the binding for my positivity quilt. My quilter returns home on Sunday. I'll give her a day or two to catch up on her laundry etc. Then she will start on quilting both Positivity's Cappuccino and a Blueberry Bagel and Rainbow Geese Migration. 

I still need to press it in half and put it in my binding basket! 

I found 3 red strawberries this morning when I was watering. I don't harvest many, I share with the birds and the bunnies!  I have a dark blue teapot shaped trivet that sits on my counter all the time. Sort of keeping with the blue theme this month! LOL,

And a really bad photo of the dark blue colon blocks for Full Stop! I haven’t sewn them into a row yet! I was rearranging. Looks like two of my divider strips need a good press!
