To-Do Tuesday #62 10-26-21

Here is my list from last week! I’ll link up with Linda at Texas Quilt Gal.  Thanks Linda for hosting this event. I really need to be accountable or I would just "piddle around" in my sewing room!  haha! That's a phrase my mama used to use!  

Last week------October 19-25

1. Keep exploring backing options for couch topper. ✔  I made a decision!.  The couch topper is for our son. He has an orange kitty. Yes, I know the upper cats are upside down. It's a couch topper so they will be right side up when viewed from the dining room side of the couch.

And he's been a Denver Bronco fan since he was in Junior High. I had this piece of fabric leftover from a quilt I made for his younger grandson. It just needed a little extra added to the width and length. 

2. Does Hollow Nines need a border? If so, what. Skinny white, then colored? Just a patterned wider border? ✔

Linda suggested a darker border....so I looked and decided on this one. This fabric is in some of the green 9 patches. It's not a lot darker, but I like it. It almost used up this fabric I used in my first great grandson's baby quilt. He just turned 10! Now I'll decide on a backing and get it and maybe En Provence to the quilter. She is going to Houston but will be back on Halloween and home til Thanksgiving, then they "snowbird" to Arizona! 

3. Finish lime/red/white table topper. TSC-October! ✔ 

I wasn’t sure I would like this color combination when finished! I thought I would donate it to our library’s Silent Auction. But as I finished the last stitch in the binding, I was really liking it! I know you shouldn’t donate only things you aren’t fond of! That’s not in the spirit of giving! But now it’s going to be difficult to give this away!

I quilted it with a Serpentine stitch (#4 on my Bernina) at the widest possible width and length at 3. It is stitched in a red Coats and Clark thread from my stash. It was the perfect match for the red polka dot binding. fabric. 

4. Work on Partridge in a Pine Tree. ✔  

And I have pieced a backing. I just need to find some batting, quilt it and do the binding!  JUST!

Next Week - October 25-November 1

1. Cut batting for Cat Couch Topper and quilt it. 

2. Finish Partridge in a Pine Tree table runner.

3. Post to Table Scraps Challenge at The Joyful Quilter and OMG at Elm Street Quilts. 

4. Work on UFO for Jack's Basket - Chunky Churn Dash. 

5. Bonus.  - backing for Hollow Nine Patch.

OMG October Finish!

 

My goal for October was to get 72 of my hollow 9’s into a quilt top. It looked like this on my design wall in September! 

Then, I cut skinny sashings to make the blocks easier to join and yet keep the diagonal slashes of color. 

Last week, it was done! But I wondered if it needed borders? 

 

Linda at Texas Quilt Gal was the only one who weighed in, but I agreed and took her advice.

This morning , 10-25-21, it is bordered!  It’s now 48 X 53! A good lap or “big kid” size! 

Now to think about a backing.

To-Do Tuesday #60

I’m here to share my progress on my To-Do List from last week and to set a new goal for the upcoming week. Linda at Texas Quilt Gal gives us this forum to be accountable!

Last week….October 5-October 11

1. Get Autumn wall hanging done    ✅ 

2. Get one Growing Up Odd block done. ✅

One done. I had to re do some outside strips so white squares were not touching the sashing! 

3. More rows of Hollow 9 patches. ✅

All 9 rows are done. Horizontal sashing is on the bottom of the first roe, only 7 more to go! 

4. Keep making yellow “fabric”✅

All 4 chunks of yellow “fabric” is made. Now onto the next step! 

Next week  October 12 - 18

1. Get horizontal sashing done on Hollow 9s

2. Cut pieces for gray birds ….doves? 

3. Make backing for cat couch topper! A “squirrel”

I may not get these small tasks done. My brother and SIL are coming for a visit. They haven’t been here since August 2017! We’ve seen them since then, just not at our house! 

This morning we are in the middle of a winter storm warning. 4-8 inches predicted with 40 mph winds! Good sewing weather! Not good weather for preparing for guests!

To Do Tuesday #54

 

I'm joining friends at *  ChrisKnits * to share my To-Do list and applaud the others who accomplished or at least made progress on theirs. **after writing this post and logging on to ChrisKnits, I learned that To-Do Tuesday will now be hosted by Texas Quilt Gal. So this  is the last Linky Party at Chris's blog. Understandably, too!  She has had a "crummy" couple of weeks or maybe months. Keep her in your prayers and send good thoughts her way!**

Next week August 24th to August 30th

1. Finish and post One Monthly Goal at Elm Street Quilts. DONE! See my post here. 

 

2. Finish and write post for Table Scraps Challenge and post at The Joyful Quilter. Done!  Here is that post!

3. Start adding sashings to Hollow Nines. Done!  (I started at least!)

Next week August 31st - September 6th.

1.  Keeping working on getting the binding attached to Rainbow Geese. 

2. Check out the new block drive for Covered  in Love…Kat should post it this week!

3. Decide on what to take to Loose Threads’s Sleep at Home Fall Retreat! 

4. Check out the Banned Book Reading Challenge at the library!

To-Do Tuesday #50

Good Morning! I’m here to share my weekly to-do list! Chris is on vacation, lucky lady! I’ve not heard if anyone is hosting a Linky Party! But I’ll share mine anyway and link up later if I can.

Let’s see how last week list went!

Week of  July 27 to August 3rd  (should have been Aug 2nd)

1. Do dark blue blocks for July for Full Stop at So Scrappy! ✅

There are eight, 

2.  Construct binding for Positivity Quilt…C&ABB! ✅  

It's all stitched and pressed and coiled into my Binding Basket. Think I'd better hang the tail over the handle so I don't forget what is in this basket! LOL

3. Do one more Flag star block for Covered in Love! ✅

One more was finished, and then because all the pieces were cut, 3 more were added!

On the design wall with the dark blue colon blocks for Full Stop!

Bonus: Make another Growing Up Odd block ✅

These blocks are huge...18" I think. I need 25 for a 90x90 quilt. Note to self," try not to put light squares on the outside edge. They disappear in the sashing."

Next weeks to do list

1. Mail 8 flag centered star blocks to Kat at Covered in Love. 

2. Start assembling the backing for August OMG!  

3. Put Hollow 9's on the design wall to see how many more blocks are needed! Make Aqua blocks of needed, if not decide on Table Scraps Project in Aqua!

ScrapHappy Saturday -Third Dark Blue/Brown/Black Saturday.

 

So far this is the 3rd dark hollow 9-patch for this month. 

I used bit and pieces of some of the scrapes from my Positivity quilt! They are batiks (Bali Pops, to be exact). The colorway is called Cappuccino. I’ve been hoarding it for a long time. 

I was hard at work this week putting blocks into rows, rows into a quilt top. I’m not finished yet, but rows 1 through 4 are done. Are you wondering about the little white bits on each plus? Just Row and block notations! 

I did rows 5&6, late yesterday afternoon. Started on 7 and 8 this morning. 

And I’ve been playing with those 12 rectangles that were cut too short and adding to them. 

I can’t wait to show you the completed runner! You’ll have to be patient though. First things first!

To-DO Tuesday #47

 

 Good Morning!  I hope your week is progressing as well as you hoped!  I've been pretty happy with my progress on my to-do list!

Last weeks list! 

 1. Do at least one dark hollow 9-patch.

Just one to add to the dark blue one from last week!

2. Make 24 Positivity  blocks. 

I forgot to take a photo of the last 24 blocks. But here are all 48 blocks. I think this is the final layout! I've rearranged and rearranged.... I think this looks good. 

3. Finish binding on Go Your Own Way! 

 

Done finally!  Stitching the binding to the minky batting was a bit of a chore. 

4. Start laying out border #2 for spool quilt    ***failed***   the other things on my list took too long!

5. from last week….join semi colons into a row!

Next weeks   July 13 - 19

1. Positivity blocks: all 48  into a flimsy 

2. Carried over from last week:  border #2 Spool Quilt

3. Work on Table Scraps challenge for July.

4. Look in stash for a backing for " Cappuccino and a Blueberry Bagel". (Positivity quilt)

ScrappyHappy Saturday! Dark Blue Etc!

 

Not much dark blue or any other dark to show today!

I did one dark blue hollow nine patch last weekend after ScrapHappy Saturday. 

And I  did  1 dark hollow nine patch, mostly blackish, done this week. 

And just so you know:  I did join the semi colons from June.  Full Stop

My Positivity blocks have dark pluses. 

A friend and I did our community’s annual Garden Walk! 

I love the contrast of the lime green sweet potato vine with the DARK purple vine!

Some tomatoes hiding in the DARK SHADE!

And lots of bright happy colors

 

A pond with DARKwater!

A Petunia Tree,not dark!

Some bright moss rose, also not dark! 

Next week I’ll do better! I hope!
