Slow Sunday Stitching…..8-8-21
I just rounded corner #3 on my Positivity quilt and Kyle Larson just won the race at Watkins Glen , NY! That corner looks a bit crooked, but it actually mitered very nicely!

I LIKE Thursday #55
Yay! It’s Thursday!
Do you remember last week I showed my neighbor’s yard and the gift of the single sunflower?
This is their yard one week later! It’s a forest of sunflowers! And a huge pumpkin vine!
I like sunflowers, as you might guess by a couple of my August wall hangings!
I’ve started on a Slow Stitching project. It’s an embroidered tea towel or dish towel! The design was traced by a member of my stitching group, we did a Christmas exchange. I’m using a variegated green floss. I like green, so this will make me happy as I stitch in the evenings. The towel is bordered in green too!
We have been watching the Olympics, but we’ll go back to Netflix or Amazon Prime or AppleTV soon. Or maybe I’ll even sit while Mr Busy watches NASCAR. And football season starts soon.

We’ve binged on Season 1 of Ted Lasso at AppleTV, on a recommendation from a book blogger, Julia Tomiak. She blogs at Diary of a Word Nerd.
This is weird photo, but it’s the only image I could save! Google is so picky sometimes!
I finished reading Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell. I give it 4.5/5 stars!
And now I’m reading The Autobiography of Mrs Tom Thumb by Melanie Benjamin. I've read Melanie Benjamin's , The Aviator's Wife. I like that one. I think this one will be good too!
Only one “Not Like” this week. I got stung by a wasp on Saturday! It’s still looks like this and it itches like crazy!
I’m sorry to say, Mr Busy defended me by killing that dang little pollinator and several of his family!

Slow Sunday Stitching 7-4-21
On this holiday weekend there has been some slow stitching.
I’m getting the binding on Follow Your Own Path .
This is the last of this favorite fabric. Orange and rust plaid. The backing is orange minky. It’s a wildly colorful baby quilt!
Do you remember my post about a purchase from Missouri Star Quilt Company a month or so ago. I mentioned a free little gift of orange thread. I thought I would have to wait til Halloween to use it.
Nope! It’s called Orange Zest and it’s perfect for this binding!
So, I’ll continue to stitch down the binding in small bits and pieces of time! I have a salad to finish for a holiday block party! A ZOOM call with family and maybe a movie on TV. If it gets too hot this afternoon, a good place to be is in the A/C house doing some slow stitching!

Finished or Not Finished Friday
I’ve been trying to straighten my sewing room. I don’t have lots of room, so I try to stay sort of organized. That project is NEVER FINISHED. I’ve also been doing some “secret” sewing. I will be away from my machine for all of December. You’ll just have to be patient.
Just a "peek"Quilting my go-to serpentine stitch in dark blue thread.
I do have this small finish. The first Christmas embroidered motif that will become a hexagon table topper! The colors may seem odd....
but I am hopeful that when used with the fabric line Holly Jolly, it will be a fun happy table topper!
So just a little bit of sewing done this week.
We purchased license tags for our car, they expire the end of November. We got our flu shots. The Public Health office here is not giving them at this time. 6 of their 13 employees are out with COVID. So we ended up at Walgreen's. The Pharmacist was a lovely young lady but not as good a "shot giver"as the Public Health Nurses! My arm is "sore"!
And I am making plans for our road trip! All precautions in place. Sanitizer, wipes, masks, supplies to eat in the car and in the hotel room. We are good.!
I leave you with these two photos taken out the back door at my brother and SIL's house just outside of Rapid City SD. This huge ram just wandered past as they were having morning coffee.

November OMG Link Up
My One Monthly Goal for November involves some handwork. I hope to be able to get these embroidery designs done and ready to be made into a Christmas table topper. Most is hand work. And by Thanksgiving I will be in California without my machine.
These haven't been started. Can you even see them? A Star and A Heart! They will be sewn into a Hexie patchwork. Like this only Christmas themed, not Fall themed.
I have the charm squares packed with the selected embroidery floss for the other two designs. The pattern is in my go-bag too! The top is put together by hand. The quilting and the backing was added by machine on the one above.

Busy week, some progress, nothing to shout about!
Nothing finished this week. I spent 4 days with my sister being her "cheerleader" while she was undergoing chemotherapy treatment. She felt good and we had marvelous "sister time". This morning I am home and looking forward to a bit of sewing while preparing for probable company for Sunday dinner. I have some things for baskets, candy, socks, plastic eggs, so I have to get those put together.
I did start on a small crocheting project that was easy to transport. It has been awhile since I did any crocheting and the learning curve though gentle was uphill!
There are some "boo-boos", but it is just a cotton dishcloth....so I will not stress over any imperfections. The next one will be better.
I also prepared some fabric (all from my stash, of course) for hand stitching of mug rugs from the free patterns at Shabby Fabrics. A friend is making these too and her's inspired me. I thought I would stitch on them while I was visiting with my sister, but we just talked and talked and celebrated! But they are ready for another quiet slow stitching time. Aren't they tooooo cute? The pattern calls for wool, or felted wool. But while searching for my black felt, I found a large scrap of black cotton duck I used eons ago to make club vests for Mr Busy and myself. Use it up!!!
Shabby Fabrics has the instructions on their website. Free downloads, or they have a YouTube video series also. I have no affiliation, just love their cute projects.
I'll link up to Finished or Not Friday! This is definitely a NOT Friday!
and I will link up to So Scrappy Saturday I did not get any more aqua scrappy projects done, but the little mug rugs use up some scraps! My plan today, is to do the aqua Tiny Tuesday project, start on the stitching down of the vine applique and to clean at least the guest bathroom before Easter dinner.

Slow Stitching Sunday #2
I had to purchase muslin for the stitching and the applique, but all the other fabrics are from the Christmas bin! I have lots of Nancy Halvorsen fabrics from several years. I love the non-traditional colors. Oh, there is red and green, but also aqua, black, and lime green.
I'm linking this up to Kathy's Slow Stitching Sunday!
