Good Morning Stitchers! I got up just as the sun was coming up. And it’s not that early. I sleep later as the days grow shorter. Seems my week as been slower than usual. Even my machine stitching lately has been slower. I’m zigzag appliquéing leaves and stylized flowers for a quilt border. It’s slow going.
But today I will put more stitches in this cute little guy. It’s a chart that Diann at Little Penguin did last year. I printed it and put it away. I don’t remember exactly how I did that, but just now entered Cross Stitch Penguin Pattern in Pinterest and was able to find it. There is a download link there. Good Luck!
Last week I needed a project to take to my Thursday Stitchers group. I had a scrap of white 14 ct Aida and kitted it up. I started with the penguin’s scarf, the red part. I’m a center starter always! I was unfocused and enjoying being with friends and sharing. And made a mistake.
I finally decided to count( several times to be sure) and go to the top to begin. I tried stitching a grid on my fabric. It didn’t seem to help me, but I might try that technique again.
I’ll continue on the sky and his stocking cap today! It shouldn’t take too long. It’s tiny, a 4” hoop completely fits the chart.
Going to be rainy and it’s much cooler today, so a good day for stitching and Mother Nature is watering my tomatoes! A win-win!

Looking back at my penguin, I can't even remember where I started, but I can see the sky and the little guy's hat, Judy! I know the whole thing will come together. I imagine it would be challenging to count the stitches and spaces when you're with friends. Have a lovely Sunday!

ReplyDeleteWhy have I never thought about stitching a grid? I have to count and count and am still wrong sometimes! And I have my readers plus a lighted magnifier around my neck - sheesh!
