For the last 5 years I have participated in Angela’s Rainbow Scrap Challenge in an effort to sew up my scrappy stash. I have enjoyed each and every year, but I rarely had a finish.
In 2018, I made crumb blocks and assembled them into Precarious.

RSC 2019 was Bowtie Blocks, Sprout Blocks, Tiny Tuesdays and Garlic Knots from Leaders and Enders!
RSC2020 I started Hollow 9's and Geese Migration Blocks. I made Rainbow Colored Scrap baskets and started a different Leader and Ender project, Easy Breezy!
RSC 2021. Full Stop from Angela , Growing Up Odd blocks and more Hollow Nines!
This year 2022, there were Fall colored strings from emptying a tote of strings, ZigZag rows , some tiny Pieces In the Garden Blocks from Melva Loves Scraps, more Rainbow strings, Happy Blocks and a new Leaders and Enders from Bonnie Hunter, Triple Treat!
Phew!
So now I have flimsies, and project boxes full, though not only from RSC blocks. Some are other quilts started because !!! Not many finished quilts. In 2023 I hope to remedy that!
This my plan. I have built an Excel spreadsheet that lists all the months and a place to enter the color picked by Angela. Then there is an empty column for any notes. UFOs are numbered ( there are 20!) in the next 2 columns, and each of them has been assigned a color by random. Then a column with a quick description of what the UFO needs to be done. Lastly there is a place to list the Table Scraps Challenge hosted by Joyful Quilter, using the monthly color. Last year, Joyful gave us a prompt. This year the prompts will occur again. Although I am expecting some uniquely creative prompts!
I was hoping to insert the file as a photo here, but I’m not as skilled at merging Blogger with Excel as I had hoped! So I hope you can sort of tell by this photo of my laptop screen.
Hopefully this will be a way to participate in the monthly color and yet complete my many UFO's. I'm going to try to keep this up on my laptop. But I may end up printing it and hanging it in my sewing room as a more VISUAL reminder. I'll see how well I do with it just on the Mac for now.
I love looking through your RSC projects...I have yet to decide on projects for RSC2023. Keeping a spreadsheet will hopefully help you with your UFO's! I love to cross items off a list!

ReplyDeleteGreat way to plan for some progress and finishes, Judy! I need to get organized like that, too. I think we all have those project boxes full of UFOs! I didn't remember that you had made Precarious - that's one from Kelly's book t hat I've wanted to make, too.

ReplyDeleteYou've had such interesting and fun blocks over the years for RSC, and like you, I have a bunch of block collections that should easily be able to be set into complete quilts quickly. And I use Excel as well for tracking my projects. I have way too many projects, but did make great progress on most.
ReplyDeleteI love how you set up your spreadsheet. You've got your RSC colors matched up with UFOs so you're set for 2 things to work on monthly. That helps if you get bored with one project! You've got loads of things to work on. Happy 2023 and I'll see you at the PHD parties!
ReplyDeleteSo much to do and so little time. I am aware how time flies, projects pile up and we manage to accomplish only a part of our goals. Looks like you are organized and ready to attack those WIPs and show them who is the boss. Wishing you good luck in all your projects. Happy 2023 to you!!!
