To-Do Tuesday and Weekly Progress #14

Every Tuesday, Home Sewn By Us, gives us this forum to record a list of things we want to accomplish and to share them and check them off. No worries if they don't get accomplished. Thanks to Roseanne and Sue for this. This is my 14th link up. 

Last Weeks To-Do List

Nov 3 - Nov 9

1. More Heartland Block, maybe 4?   Done

2. Sew a small zipper pouch.  You can't have too many!   Done

3. Make Christmas fabric masks for Mr. Busy and me.    Done

4. Write November OMG post  and link to Elm Street Quilts.  Done

1.  More Heartland blocks. Maybe four?

October 30th there were 9

Now there are 13

2. Sew a  little zipper pouch.

 

Mostly green with a little pink. 

And a cute starfish charm! 

3. Make Christmas fabric masks for Mr. Busy and myself. When I asked if he would wear a Christmas fabric face mask, he looked at me like I was off my rocker..so now I have 2 new masks. 

 

I used two different, new to me, patterns found on YouTube. 

4. Write  November OMG post and link to Elm Street Quilts.

Next week

Nov 10 - Nov 16

1. Continue to make Heartland Blocks.

2. Start to “stage” the stuff that we are taking to our son! 

3. Stitch on November OMG embroidery project.

Finished or Not Finished Friday! 9.4.20

 I had hoped to be working on the binding of this quilt today! 

It is at thequilter’s, but she won’t have it finished til next week! edit: she just called and will drop it off on my porch within the hour!  

I did get 2 more masks done for my granddaughter and her fiance in Vermont!

I realized as I was taking this picture I forgot the nose pieces !!  Again!!  I'll have to make a note and attach it to the pattern!

And I’m started in “ making fabric” for a red scrap basket!  It's always a mess! 

One finish I do have of a non-quilting nature!

This is an old tool box made by my dad. Probably in the 50's  I've had it for years, painted it several times and put flowers in it for my front deck or back patio!.  It needed another paint job. Using paint I already had - Painted Turtle-  it is done. I will look for some fall mums or something to put in it for this season.

To Do Tuesday #4 Hello September!

 Joining Home Sewn by Us to check off my last weeks to-do list! 

Last weeks list: August 25 - August 31

1. Make 3 adult masks for my peeps on Florida! ✅

The nose pieces are laying  on the cutting mat. They have been added and the masks are ready to be mailed. 
 

2. Finish sewing the purple Easy Breezy blocs that are cut and clipped, ✅ 

There are 11!  So I guess I had better find a bit more purple or take out one that reads pink! 

3. Try to find a suitable pattern for placemats for S &A . ✅ 

I  have narrowed it down to these two patterns. It will depend on the fabric I can find. 

4. Attempt some big stitch hand quilting on Harvest table runner.   Ummm,  not done

I could "fib" and say this is my "attempt".. But this is an attempt I made many months ago. Maybe a year ago! I found the table runner. The thread is on a needle. But the spool of thread I was using is MIA!

I'm pretty sure that it was from this package of 50 at Sulky.  But it is a bit more buttery that the ones here.  

I'll eventually find it. It is put away somewhere "safe", I am sure!  But since I barely started , I think I will remove the few stitches I did and start over with a different color. I may give it another day and a half to search for the missing thread. I know it is somewhere!

So next week's list,

September 1- September 7

1. Make 2 each , masks for Granddaughter and her fiance in Vermont!

2. Sew red crumb blocks in preparation for a scrap basket. 

3. Cut pieces for red  Geese Migration Blocks

4. Keep looking for the missing thread or restart with a different color!

Finished or Not Finished Friday. August 28

 First of all Happy Birthday to my mama in Heaven. Golly gee, I am missing her lately! 

Ok, most of you already know this! I FINALLY have some finishes!

First.. the Winter Mystery that Alycia sponsored is done! 

Back from the long arm quilter and ready to be trimmed and binding applied. 

Binding is done.

Secondly...I made bowl cozies for our son at his new home. He had one, now he and A. will have 4 total.    

While I was at it I made 2 for Mr Busy and me! 

They still need topstitching around the top, but the wrong color thread is in my machine at the moment. 

And 5 masks were made from this panel! There are 10 kid graphics and 8 for adults. 

  

Two for the great grandkids. 

And one each for their mommy, daddy and yaya (grandma)!  As I was readying these for a photo, I realized I forgot the nose pieces. I'll add them before they get mailed. 

The "not finished" is this baby quilt of just scraps. It needs a border. I’m thinking a stripe. Blue and orange maybe.  I’m still looking...but I’m open for something else if it speaks to me. 

And I had a tiny DrEAMi yesterday.(Drop Everything and Make It)  While looking for a particular pattern I ran across this elastic and piece of fabric to make a bookmark. A scrap of interfacing, a quick seam around 3 sides, insert the loop of wide elastic and topstitching gives you a bookmark that holds the book closed. 

inserted at your stopping place and the elastic is looped around the book .

To Do Tuesday #3 and the last one for August.

 Linking up with Home Sewn by Us and To-Do Tuesdays. I really am appreciative of this opportunity to make a list! Be accountable and check items off!

Last week’s list. 

#1. Make Geese Migration blocks in this month’s purple. ✔️

#2  Work on binding for the QOV Winter Mystery.✔️

Rounding corner number 4! On Sunday evening. 

Monday night 9PM:

3. Make masks for the 2 Florida Great Grands.  ✔️

The blue on had to be modified a bit. I originally used a black elastic cord I had in my stash. I attempted to  sew it into the corners as per the pattern directions. My machine hated it. There were bird nests of thread on the back, the upper thread broke several times. I changed needles and changed course. I made a casing of some of the lining fabric and cut new 1/8" elastic and threaded it through. I cut the loops extra long, added a stop bead and an adjusting bead. That should work!

#4. Make one new bowl cozy for the new person in our DS's life. ✔️

So I made 3!  Once you start its hard to stop. This way, they will have four total. For rotation in the laundry or if they have company for supper. Two of the cozies match, one is different. I used what was in my stash. 

Next week's list.

August 25 - August 31st

1. Make masks for 3 adult kids in Florida!

2. Finish sewing the purple Easy Breezy blocks that are cut and clipped.

3. Try to find a suitable pattern for placemats for S&A.

ps: this is my second attempt at this post. One was almost done and I hit return on my iPad to place my signature line and POOF!! it disappeared. If it shows up in the Blogosphere!  I apologize in advance. GRRRR!! I think I will schedule this one to post before there is another "strange happening"!

To-Do Tuesday #2

 Hi again everyone! I think I actually did it!  I finished my first to-do list. Well, not my first ever to-do list. After all, I'm 74. I've made a few to-d- lists in my time. But this is my first one shared here. I’m linking up with To-do Tuesday hosted by Sue and Roseanne at Home Sewn By Us.

Last weeks list: 

1. Make 4 more hollow nine patches for a total of 8! ✔️

2. Make a scrap basket from old crumb blocks, ✔️

3. Get started on Geese Migration blocks! ✔️

Started this far, on Saturday. 

Got a little further Sunday and yesterday! All the bit and pieces are cut. Now to the sewing machine. 

This weeks list.

1. Finish 2 Geese Migration blocks. 

2. Work on the binding on my QOV, Winter Mystery. 

3. Do 2 more kids masks from the Moda panel. For Great Grands in FL! 

4. Make one bowl cozy for the new person in our son’s  life. They asked for blue or teal. 

Maybe this fabric. 

I found this in a drawer. It’s from Connecting Threads from ages ago. It came in a kit to make cup cozies. I made two and there was lot of leftover fabric. I’m not sure what I was saving it for...but now I’ll make 2  bowl cozies. And the bits leftover this time will get cut up into 1.5” strips or squares, 2 “ strips or squares, or 2.5” strips or squares!
