My mother, ever the diplomat, used to call it my “nest”! It’s no secret I have stuff everywhere.
I found a pattern on Pinterest that looked quick and easy! I’m on a deadline! It’s from AlanaCraft. Quick and Easy placemat tutorial using Jelly Roll strips. I don’t have a jelly roll, but I do have 2 1/2” strips. The pattern called for WOF to make two placemats, 17” each. I laid out my aqua strips. They were not all the same, so I cut them to match the shortest strip. 13 inches. Arranged and sewed them together. Then cut 2 3” strips from the left side. Flipped the middle one upside down, added two contrasting strips vertically and joined all together!

| This is upside down. I really cut from the left but either way it works! I pieced two scraps for a backing and I joined two scraps of batting. Sorry no photos! I’m bad about taking progress photos! I get too focused on the finish. I love the stripe fabric in the middle and can you believe I found some of that fabric in my binding leftovers jar! It was already cut on the bias! How serendipitous is that? I like the stripes on the bias….and this is the back.I just straight line quilted it. |

I have been enjoying this monthly challenge a great deal! I'm anxious for September's color to be announced. My OMG for September won't be so time consuming so maybe I'll have more time to make a real table runner!

I'm glad to read you are wearing your mask, I am too though we are wide open though all places require one indoors which is a good thing for now. Meanwhile, adorable table topper; I just love that colour combo you came up with. Talent right there!

ReplyDeleteThat is great, Judy! Perfect for that spot, too. I'll have to remember that design. I like the way you made the quilting wider and narrower depending on the section, and the backing fabrics are perfect for it, too. I have a nest beside my chair, too - we never know what we might need when relaxing in our comfy chairs!
