Rainbow Scrap Challenge ..Pink!!

 

We arrived home last Wednesday, ahead of the high winds that plagued most of Wyoming on Thursday. I couldn’t place a grocery order because we were without internet until 5pm Thursday. When I did log on there wasn’t daytime pick up times til Saturday! Luckily I had coffee, bread in the freezer and soup in the pantry!  So with 2 take out meals we made do. 

I’m feeling sad today and a bit lost. So what do I do? Go to my sewing room, of course! 

There is a bit of pink happening! 

The pink scrap basket yielded some possible heart fabric! And a touch of green, well, because!

Then I remembered a pattern from Cluck, Cluck, Sew that I downloaded several years ago. 2016 is the date on the pattern. I found it quickly in my Table Runner notebook! 

Several hours later, the I Heart You Mini, is a top!  Batting has been pieced and some fabric from the pink basket has been cut for backing. I want to quilt it with pink thread. I have part of a bobbin in light pink and   a skimpy bit of hot pink on a spool!  So I can go to JoAnns tomorrow or order some from Amazon! I’m leaning toward Amazon. No one is wearing masks here! It’s disheartening! 

I did get 2 Hollow Nines done to add to the ongoing box of blocks! And I cut some more pink 2" squares to make a few more before the end of the month. 

This little heart project has made the day a bit easier to survive. It was one week ago that I learned of my sister's passing and I am still processing.

We left California Monday morning, spent the night in Winnemucca NV. We are back on the road this morning. 

Last weeks list

1. Work on hexie project.

I don’t have photographic proof, my project bag is packed. But all the hexes are basted. 1,2 and 3 are stitched together. 4,5,6 and 7 are stitched in a row. That is as far as I got! 

2. Crochet in car! 

 Nope, I did nothing but watch the scenery go by. And lots of internal reflection. My sister fell in her bathroom Friday night and died. I am so very sad and heartbroken! 

Week of January 12 -18. 

There is no to do project . I’ll be AWOL for awhile. 

I’ll check back when I can! 

I Like Thursday #26

Today as I write this I like post, in the background is the news reports of the US Capitol being breached. I’m not sure that I can write an I LIKE post!  I am so sad!

But, I had been gathering thought and photos previously. There are a few things I am certain of:

1.  I like that I was able to repair the favorite mouse of our son’s cat!

2. I like that I  will leave DS’s candy jar, full!

I have discovered a new flavor of chip that I like!

I have started a new book. A gift from our granddaughter and her fiancé. So far, I am enjoying it.

Happy Tuesday Morning!  I'm joining Roseanne and Sue at Home Sewn By Use  to check in with my to-do list and see what the others are doing. I've not been very productive the last 2 weeks. It's more difficult at someone else's house and we have been doing more together stuff. A puzzle was finished, 

we finished watched Season 7 and 8 of "Homeland" on HULU!  Claire Danes and Mandy Patinkin. So good, so intense. 

We took a road trip up to the snowmobile area near Mt Shasta.  Not good photos, but it was a lovely ride.

 Last week...

1. Celebrate New Years!  ...

We found small lobster tails and very good steak! Basic basic, baked potato and salad + wine. 

I did the lobster under the broiler and DS grilled the steak on the deck. Yummy! 

2.  Make a page for 2021....

Next Week's List..

January 5th through January 11th

1. Work on OMG hexie project

2. Maybe crochet in the car - we are planning on starting home on the 10th.

2021 One Monthly Goal...January

One Monthly Goal! OMG 

We are trying to decide when it will be safe to leave California! We have been only the 3 of us for 6 weeks, with rare trips to the grocery store! But we are more concerned with the political temperament of the country! And the weather of course. There is always that concern! 

With that in mind, my OMG needs to be something I have with me already! So I will finish making the hexagons and getting them ladder stitched together.

Rainbow Scrap Challenge 21 January Pink

 

I know that I have pink fabric scraps because I have this basket at home, full of scraps.  I don't have photos of it full, but trust me. There is pink in there!

So I will make more pink Hollow Nine Patches.  

I will make a VALENTINE table runner.....of unknown ( at this time) pattern.

I have this one,

 but need a 36 X 12 runner for my buffet!  Maybe matching mug rugs?

We will see what I can get done the last week of January!  I'm linking today with Angela's Week 1 post at So  Scrappy!

I LIKE THURSDAY #25

 I LIKE THURSDAY

This is the last Thursday of 2020! It has been a strange year, that’s for sure! But in our world, not huge problems! We are retired, so our lives didn’t really change. We didn’t lose jobs! We already stayed home a lot! 

I learned how to do curbside pickup at the grocery store! Three of our 4 grocery stores offered it!

I learned how to source out TP and anti bacterial cleaners and hand sanitizer!  Luckily I'm a bit of a hoarder, so I had backup in the pantry! And our RN daughter, warned us to get 45 days of supplies in house. 

Thanks to the online quilting community, I learned to make face masks! 

And then because my local quilting community could not meet I found this Fabulous Online Community of Friends. Some I knew before 2020!

From Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2020, developed a scrap basket challenge, 

that has now brought a new challenge for 2021....Table Scraps Challenge! Hosted by The Joyful Quilter.

I Like Thursdays at Not Afraid of Color

I like that we were able to travel to California in November to be with our son for the holidays. We have had a wonderful visit. It will be hard to leave him. I do miss my sewing machine. And I have lots of projects that need to be finished. We have baked and cooked. 

Christmas Eve chili with cranberry salad. 

Two pumpkin pies because pie shells come in twos and a large can of pumpkin makes 2 pies. 

Homemade Taco Pizza, because it a favorite from his teenage years and we could!

We have enjoyed his view 

And his kitty, Phoenix!

Cutting a real Christmas tree

Mr Busy and DS, worked together on building a bench for his foyer.

We started a puzzle, a gift from our daughter to us!

We will try to get steak and lobster and a good wine for New Year's Eve !   And we will celebrate !
