Finished or Not Finished Friday QOV Mystery and masks(again)

I did not spend much time in my sewing room this week. I’m not sure why. Every time I walked in there I was overwhelmed with all the stuff to do. 

I did iron some capris and some pillow cases. I know most people don’t iron pillow cases these days. But Mr Busy always remarks, “ fresh pillowcases!” when I change the sheets! So I do it for him. And me, it’s an old lady thing, I guess, 

I did get my Winter Mystery back from the quilter. She only had it 3 days! I really like the quilting although I am not sure of the name of the design . The blue thread is a perfect match to the blue fabric I used.  I’ll message her and ask. 

It looks bad at the bottom. Let's just chalk it up to the Wyoming wind.  

It really is mostly square. It is roughly trimmed. 

I trimmed the excess batting and backing. I cut and sewed the blue binding. 

I'm a kind of sloppy binding roller. It' ll be fine. This weekend I need to either sequester myself in my room until the binding is on or move my machine to the dining room table. I struggle with the bulk and weight of a quilt when I sew on the binding. That could be an old lady thing, too!

Late yesterday,  I did sew up two kids masks. 

The Blah Blah Blah fabric is the back. 

These are both the same size on the panel, but I sewed a slightly bigger piece of blah blah fabric on the HELLO front giving it a look of binding around the edge.And then I added a 2.5" by 4.5 " pieces on the end for the casing. Much like Bonnie Hunter does in her tutorial. The green one is for Miss Sassypants who just turned 3 and the other is for her brother, who just turned 10.

Finished or Not Friday 12/20/19

Last week, I showed progress on my Winter QAL.  This week I can show you that I have the rows together. I did have a couple of little issues with some points. I unpicked a few, resewed and they are better. Some are just going to have to be "not perfect".

I did not measure this quilt top. But Mr Busy is 6'1" ( he has shrunk a bit as he has gotten older) is standing on a dining room chair and holding it up!

And my Bow Tie quilt is complete, except for a label.

A pieced backing, lots of strips to make a binding and finally done. It is washed now and all wonderfully crinkly!

Finished or Not Friday WQAL 2019

Seems I have a lot of “not Finished “!  Here is yet another one. Right hand 1/2.

Left hand 1/2. You can see my orange sticky notes marking "Hour 4" and Upper Left Hand corner. I make myself notes, a lot!

I decided to join Alycia’s winter quilt along because ...... I could! I had a blue left over from backing 2 Christmas wall hanging that were donated to the local library silent auction. I had a cream piece that was purchased a long time ago, that was looking for a place to shine and the yardage needed for the other contrast, I chose red, was a small star fabric that looked great with the rather true blue!

My steps took longer than the 1 hour , Alycia managed. But definitely not difficult and definitely fun. The way she chose to lay out the HST and the few solids in 4 rows for 10 blocks each was easy!

So Hour 3 and Hour 4 are sewn  together. Hour 5 is on the design wall. I am hoping to get that step done today. Then I just have 2 seams to get to quilt top or flimsy stage.

My design wall is just barely big enough.

There is grocery shopping and Christmas tree decorating on my agenda too. But Mr Busy has a cold, so getting the tree down out of the attic space over the garage could be postponed! Wish me luck!

Just Keep Sewing, Sewing, Sewing!!!

I'm still sewing scraps!  Not completing anything, but moving forward just the same. 

Six more Garlic Knot blocks were completed! I am gaining on the needed 88 blocks!

These six blocks for CiL's November December block drive are done. I usually send 8, so I need to dig for a few more larger scraps to cut the 6.5 " blocks.  Go to Kat & Cat Quilts' blog to see the pattern and the color suggestions. She suggests several different ways to lay out the block!  That's kind of fun. 

And I am trimming HST for the Mystery Quilt Along on Alycia's blog. There is a tab at the top of her blog with all the info you need to QAL.

I'm also trying to come up with blocks for next years Rainbow Scrap Challenge. There are so many choices!  What block are you going to do?

Or Not Finished Friday!

Seems I have more in the Not Finished column than in the Finished column this week!

I'm still building garlic knot blocks. Including these six, I have 69 finished. I'm going for 88, in a 8 X 11 layout. I have 4 more in partial mode and 5 more sets cut. That means back to my scrap bin to cut 10 more sets and then, maybe then I can put them together!

 I have 6  blocks for Kat's Coverered in Love block drive.  These are 12.5" blocks in blue, seafoam green?, and white/gray!. My stash is nearly cleared out of those colors.  I try to make 8 to mail to Kat.

And I am not finished with Step 1 of Alycia's Mystery Winter Quilt Along. Trimming up HST blocks to 6.5 inches. I am having fun with this one. All 3 pieces of fabric where in my stash.  Whoop Whoop!

I'll keep working on all these "not" finished things. Maybe something will get done. Of course, maybe not!
