And last but not least, a yellow scrap basket. A different construction method was fun to try!  And I practiced FMQ on my old Bernina. It was not wonderful! Some special gifted fabric makes this one an extra special project!   And it was my One Monthly Goal for October!

I’m still working on YELLOW

I finished the 2 required yellow Geese Migration blocks! It was fun to have some new gifted fabric to use. TU Joyful! 

I'm using prepped Easy Breezy pieces as Leaders and Enders...but Geese Migration blocks are really good L&E in their own right! Two are complete. 

Next Saturday I should have a wrap up! And then a start on the next scrap basket or two! Are you sick of seeing my baskets? I hope not, there are more to come! And then , I’ll have to think about RSC21! 

I had a different basket/bag this week. A sort of Squirrel or DreAMi ! 

We will be traveling for the holidays!  Since Mr Busy had his dental surgery we have been using a WaterPik Flosser!  This bag will carry it with us. I just winged it on a design, though I did watch a You Tube video by Whitney Sews. I used her method of adding the drawstrings.  All from my stash and I'm pretty pleased. I'll show more photos next week.

To-Do Tuesday # 11 and Weekly Progress Report!

 

I’m linking up my to-do list with Sue and Roseanne at Home Sewn by Us!  I like having this place to “write it down and get it done”! 

Last  Week of  October 14-October 20 

1.  Make all blocks for Heartland. Not done....there was a snafu

2.  Cut Yellow Easy Breezy parts and sew last 2 Hollow 9's ✅ 

3. Get yellow slabs to a quilted piece in preparation to construct a basket.Done ✅ 

Bonus: Cut parts for Yellow Geese Migration blocks. ✅ 

1. Heartland 3 yard quilt:   I always trim selvages. And this time I prewashed the three yards of fabric. Cool water and hung to dry, because I was concerned about the dark green! The problems occurred when the instructions called for a 7” x WOF , sub cut into six 7” blocks. My WOF was not 42” ! Only 40.5!  I think I will be able to piece from some extra border strips. But I haven't cut into those yet! I did measure the supposed size of the border strips and there should be some extra.  Then a similar problem with the alternate block. I’ll continue to plug away, but it’s not giving me pleasure! 

2.  I cut some Easy Breezy block with yellow . I’m using them as Leaders and Enders while I sew the Heartland blocks. I am not really liking these little blocks! When the year is over they may go into the Parts Bin! 

There will be 5 when done!

3. Not only did I get the yellow slab quilted, but it is a scrap basket and it is on the shelf.  My original plan was to continue with November and December, using darks or neutrals. But we have a family situation. So we are going to spend Thanksgiving through Christmas with our son in Northern California! I won’t be taking my machine. Just hand work!  And I may shop for background fabric for Geese Migration and Scrappy Sprouts. Won't that be fun?  So unless I get a dark one done the early part of November...this is the last scrap basket for awhile. 

Bonus:  the Geese Migration blocks got cut. I took them to the sew day! I had great visions of getting one project done and needing a 2nd! Silly me! 

Next week

October 20 -October 26

1. Finish 2 geese migration blocks

2. Continue working on Heartland

3 Start to make dark brown/black or neutral crumb blocks. 

That doesn't look like much of a list, but I may edit it before the week is done!  LOL!

To-Do Tuesday #6

 

I’m so glad that I happened on  the  To-Do Tuesday List hosted by Home Sewn by Us. This one keeps me accountable on a weekly basis. I’m a believer in small steps lead to big projects done!  I'm back to be accountable again. 

Last week's To-Do List: 

 September 7- September 14

1. Sew Geese Migration blocks  Done

2. Cut parts for Easy Breezy blocks  Done

There is only 4 sets done....but that will work. Unless I run across some more 1 1/2" strips, that will be all the red ones that  I do. 

3. Work on Loose Threads Challenge   Done

The mini charm pack plus a bit of the text fabric is the front of the pocket panel. And some text cut out and ready to be fused to the pillow front. 

So now to get busy for this week. 

Next weeks To-Do List

September 15 - September 21

1. Bind Dick and Jane quilt.   I settled on the brown fabric. 

2. Continue on the Loose Threads challenge. ( get the pillow top done and the back zipper figured out)

3. Trace Christmas designs on neutral for Hexagon Table topper 

 I have copied the designs to regular paper from the book Christmas Truffles.  And now will get out the lightbox and trace on the background fabric.

A Red Saturday!

Some secret red sewing... I’m looking at you J. 

And a dilemma that is not red! 

This quilt needs binding.  I saved the 1/2 yard of turquoise for that purpose!

Now that it is quilted and laying on the family room floor, I thinking brown. I dug in the brown bin and found 1/2 yard of the brown in the quilt!

What say you?   Turquoise or Brown!   It will probably be a donation quilt, or I may keep it here for guest grandchildren.....because I love the Dick and Jane fabric. 

Guess there is enough to keep me busy this week.
