Happy 1st day of October! Hopefully, I’ll get some slow stitching done today. The weather is supposed to be much cooler, spaghetti is on the dinner (evening) menu. I’ll link up with Kathy for Slow Sunday Stitching.
This is my fall and winter slow stitch. I think it will take me easily past Christmas! I’m thinking maybe it will make a great finish for the 4th of July.
I found piece of fabric in my stash. It was too yellow in my opinion.
So I tried to coffee dye it. It still isn’t perfect, but it will work. It’s 18 count Aida. I’m stitching with one thread. There is one problem with the lightest thread in the called for colors. Not enough contrast. There will be some re-selecting.
And because I’m much older now with less clear eyesight, less nimble fingers, I read about gridding the fabric. The upper left corner is almost complete, but I couldn’t wait to start the stitch. It’s a start!

I've run into that problem, too, Judy, with not enough contrast between the fabric and the floss I want to use. It's really hard to stitch with white on white fabric, lol! This is going to be a beautiful sampler when all done - enjoy your stitching today!
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous sampler - I look forward to watching your progress on it! Enjoy your Slow Sunday Stitching!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sampler. I also look forward to seeing your progress!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It will be a long term project!

ReplyDeleteThis is a fabulous fall/ winter project. It is going to be a lot of fun to follow your progress. You have a great start. Enjoy
ReplyDeleteSpaghetti sounds good - I bought a spaghetti squash the other day in an attempt to lose a few pounds so I can stuff myself at Thanksgiving! That's a pretty project. Do you think the gridding thread is hard to remove? I don't know much about it, but I want to try it on my next project.
