July One Monthly Goal

A long time ago, in anticipation of a 3 day retreat, my roomie and I decided to make matching pajama pants .Our JoAnn’s had just opened and we each purchased this sewing themed flannel and a pattern.

Well, things changed and everyone from our guild, Quilt Chicks, decided to make matching pajama pants (using this fabric which is still in my scrap tote)

(Pretty wild for old ladies........I still wear mine!  )

that we would wear with our own t-shirts.

So my flannel yardage and pattern sat and sat and sat! I am not a Flannel pajama wearer. (TMI?) Recently I moved the bag that had the pattern and the flannel in it for the umpteenth time! OMG July is around the corner! Lightbulb moment! I’m going to make just the pajama button front top to have as a bed jacket. I like to read in bed...books or blog posts..and my arms get cold . There was a time I was always in my own personal summer, but I am way past “ that age!”

So my OMG for July is to cut out and sew up this cute little flannel bed jacket. I won’t put the ruffle on the sleeves or the bottom. I’m way past “that age” too. The flannel requirements for the pants was 2 3/4 yards. I'm sure I purchased 3 yards assuming it would shrink. I did wash it and when I measured it this morning, I had 2 3/8 yds . So it shrunk a lot!  But there is enough for the top, without the ruffle.

I hope I can remember all the ins and outs of garment sewing. I just checked and I even have fusible interfacing in my stash!

So I will be linking up with Patty's One Monthly Goal

  1. Good idea! The thing I usually forget when switching back and forth from quilting to garment making is the difference in seam width. I kind of feel like going through all my old patterns. I'm sure none of the women's sizes will fit me anymore!

  2. What a great idea. Just the thing to keep your arms warm while catching up on reading.

  3. oh my, it's been awhile for garment sewing for me too - It will be like riding a bike- a bit sketchy at first and then smooth sailing.
