TO-DO Tuesday #48

Good Morning!  I hope your week is progressing.  I was not as successful as I had hoped. In fact I nearly forgot about To-Do Tuesday!!

Join us at ChrisKnits to share your to do list and to see what other bloggers are up to this week.

Last week's  list:  July 13 - 19

1. Positivity blocks: all 48  into a flimsy   Done!

2. Carried over from last week:  border #2 Spool Quilt   still not done!

I'm dragging my feet. Actually, I just had a couple of other project take precedence.

3. Work on Table Scraps challenge for July. I did work on it.

It's basted and the colors for quilting are chosen.

This is the back!

4. Look in stash for a backing for " Cappuccino and a Blueberry Bagel". (Positivity quilt)   Done!

The backing is done and in the bag to go to the quilter.

It's a gorgeous blue with silver leaves and musical staff and notes. It doesn't scream Christmas, though it's called Seasons Greetings. The piece that I inserted, to make it long enough is musical instruments with staff and notes, and it's got the same silvery details. They are both Hoffman fabrics, the beige one is called Antique Etchings. They were in a donation tote from a friend. She will love that they are going on a donation quilt.

Next week's list  July 20-26

1. Keep working on the applique border for the spool quilt!

2. Quilt and bind Table Scraps Challenge.

3. Decide on binding for Positivity Quilt.

Not many items, but I really need to get the applique border further along. It's part of my OMG for July and I just hate to fail!

Positivity QAL Finished Flimsy Linky Party

I'm late in posting this photo of my completed flimsy!  I somehow hurt my index finger and it made finishing those last several seams hard. So I did it in smaller chunks of time.

Then when I wanted to take pictures this morning(Monday) the painter was here at 6AM and my usual photo spot was not available. I spent the morning making sure the backing was pressed and ready. Then stay-stitched around the whole outside to secure the seams. I contacted my long arm quilter. She will quilt it when she gets back from a 4-H weekend with 4 of her grandchildren in Durango CO.

The temperature was 99 degrees most of the day. Then as the sun went down the wind ( do you know about the wind in Wyoming?) came up. I tried to lay the flimsy on the lawn, but it nearly blew into the neighbors yard. I asked Mr Busy to help me after our evening walk, but he said it was too windy.

OK  I'll do it myself, I sputtered under my breath. OK, I'm done whining!  Here are the photos!!

I'm calling this one Cappuccino and a Blueberry Bagel.

A photo on an angle from the end of my cutting table.

I moved several boxes and the ironing board, crawled back against the far wall and got this one!

This is the backing. Some blue with leaves and musical staffs and silver glitter. It's called Season's Greetings, but it doesn't scream Christmas. The 8" piece of musical instruments with musical staff has the blue with silver sparkle in the French Horns. I love it!  That piece is called Antique Etchings. They are both Hoffman Fabrics and were given to me by a friend who was downsizing. Score!

I'm going to link up with Bernie at Needle and Foot.  She is hosting the linky parties for this QAL.

ScrapHappy Saturday -Third Dark Blue/Brown/Black Saturday.

So far this is the 3rd dark hollow 9-patch for this month.

I used bit and pieces of some of the scrapes from my Positivity quilt! They are batiks (Bali Pops, to be exact). The colorway is called Cappuccino. I’ve been hoarding it for a long time.

I was hard at work this week putting blocks into rows, rows into a quilt top. I’m not finished yet, but rows 1 through 4 are done. Are you wondering about the little white bits on each plus? Just Row and block notations!

I did rows 5&6, late yesterday afternoon. Started on 7 and 8 this morning.

And I’ve been playing with those 12 rectangles that were cut too short and adding to them.

I can’t wait to show you the completed runner! You’ll have to be patient though. First things first!

I’ll link with Angela at Soscrappy for ScrapHappy Saturday

Finished or Not Finished Friday #60

Not a single finish this week! Lots of in-progress though!

I have the July Table Scraps Challenge in progress:

A couple of sneak peeks!

A bit of the front….

And a peek at the backing.

Not dark blue, but dark none the less!

I’m working on getting the Positivity blocks put together. Four rows of six. I’m having to pin carefully as none of the seams are nesting! I had no idea how I was going  to arrange them. I didn’t have a pressing plan! The rows are slightly better! I pressed each block join with the intention of nesting the next row!

This is the top half. Next I’ll get the second 24 blocks together, then join the two halves!

My OMG is going slowly! I hadn’t even traced all the bits onto the wonder under. Maybe I should have checked before I listed it as my One Monthly Goal! :)

I seemed to have trouble placing the vines. I pressed the border in half lengthwise, then basted a gold ( not metallic) thread down the center. It helped me visualize the center. I’ll keep plugging away, but I have a lot of irons in the fire!

I’m linking up with Finished or Nor Finished Friday at Alycia Quilts!

I LIKE Thursday # 52

I Like

Good Morning! I’m joining LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color and friends, sharing “likes” in my life.

On Saturday a friend and I attended a local Garden Walk!

Shades of green  and a pop of color!

Homemade cage to protect her hostas from the deer,

Did you spy the iridescent peacock garden art. The homeowner had two peacocks in this mostly shady part of her garden .

Cappuccino and a blueberry bagel ! My Positivity blocks.

All four corners and all four sides are finished! This is the Follow Your Own Path QAL from Sandra and Musings of a Menopausal Melon     I love it so much! I have changed it's name to Go Your Own Way. Like the song from Fleetwood Mac. Although the song is sad, about the breakup between Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, this little quilt makes me happy! Everyone should be allowed to Go their Own Way.

We are having our house painted! In the past, Mr Busy would have tackled it himself. It’s only a ranch with a two car garage, but still requires hours on a ladder in the sun. He has finally acquiesced and admitted it’s dangerous for him at almost 77. I’ll be glad to have it looking fresh. I’d  show pictures, but still in the priming stage…nothing much to see!

My list is short today, Back to the sewing room! Not stitching with friends today! Most are gone to our State Quilt Guild Convention . I’m not ready to be that intimate yet. Sleeping in college dorms, eating in the cafeteria, sitting in closed classrooms! Most of Wyomingites are not vaccinated! I am, but why tempt it!

After some sewing, I'll be visiting the other bloggers listed on LeeAnna's blog. Come check it out.
