Beside my chair.
A basket of necessary things. Tissue, pens, emery boards, fingernail clippers, glasses cleaning cloth, bookmarks, special mail, more notebooks, you know...necessary things.!
My mom whose birthday is tomorrow, used to call it my "nest". Now at least I keep it corralled in a basket. Happy 98th Birthday in Heaven, Mom!
Sewing:
I like leather thimble pads. I buy packages at a time. I use them, probably past their prime, then I lose them. I've found them under my sewing basket, stuck to my shirt sleeve and the really embarrassing one, stuck to my chest that I discovered at the check out at the store. "red face"
I also like my Alpaca wool pressing mat, this favorite pincushion made by the husband of a quilting buddy, a stylus made from beads on a metal turkey lacer, and this thread clipper! They make my stitching easier and that makes me happy!
Entertainment: We watched the finale of Season 3 of Yellowstone. UGH! I hated how it ended! But I know there is a Season 4, so I guess I can wait.
And I was loaned this book. All my friends know my political position but none acknowledge it much. Jean called and asked if I was interested in reading it. I haven't started it, but hope to tonight.
And I love that the deck renovation is coming along. Mr Busy is hard at it, most days. Cooler weather is on the way. Next weekend a 42 for a low on Sunday is predicted! Fall is coming! I do like Fall, it's my favorite season.
Sorry about the "screen shot". I took it on the sly. He wouldn't be excited to be featured! The red fence in the rear doesn't belong to us, it's our neighbors. But it will look pretty tacky when we finish. We may have to stain our side. Just because.
That is all I have photos of this week. A favorite nephew shared a photo of his son, that is precious. But it is a professional, so I can't share it. If I get a copy of it as a Christmas picture, I'll scan it and share then.

Hi Judy! I think I need to find the perfect basket for my important stuff by my chair. It's a little messy looking and the basket makes everything look cuter! HB to your Mom! I got to enjoy my mom until 99.5 - I still miss her everyday. Hmm. I've never heard of the thimble pad but I can imagine how embarrassing that was. I think that's a fabulous option instead of the full thimble that always falls off my skinny finger. I still haven't been able to watch Yellowstone yet but it on my to-do list when things calm down. I actually want to start with the first episode and I might have to stream that. Love the new decking - Mr Busy looks just that. ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteI use those leather thimbles too and have packages of them - never want to be without! Have you used the metal stick on thimbles by the same company - I use one on the quilting finger and the leather one on my thumb when quilting.

Yellowstone is not available except to pay on my programs - I am thinking of buying it it is worth it? I always have to remind myself that most of the series is about the price of a movie and popcorn/drinks for two - not really unreasonable after all we are staying home right now

ReplyDeleteI love your "what's next to my chair" themes! That's a great basket - looks perfect for holding all that necessary stuff. I, too, have a nest next to my chair! Where do you find those Thimblepads? I need some! Your deck is looking great - definitely a pretty color. We have to sneak in those shots of the hubby when we can - mine would feel the same way about being on the blog!
ReplyDeleteI love those thimble pads too! I usually put one under a bandaid or piece of first aid tape so I can keep using it after the sticky is gone. I've never really mastered a "real" thimble. And that pincushion is adorable! I have some old small pottery/ceramic bowls I've never used for anything, maybe I should make one into a pincushion like that!! You can never have too many pincushions IMO!

ReplyDeleteoooo it's handy to live with a handy man! I have little nests all over the place, trying to control the stuff I need to live! (always pens, emory boards, scissors, eye drops) I thought your needle might slip using those tiny circles. My husband's hobby is picking threads and other sewing detritus stuck to my shirt.

Your nest certainly does not look nesty in a neat and orderly basket. It certainly sounds like an upgrade.
