I LIKE Thursday #278

Found on Facebook!

LeeAnna has this last conversation starter for April.

April 30  2026.

do you do spring cleaning ? All over or just clear out the yard of debris for example, just do a thorough dust collection, or purging of clothing no longer wanted?

Wow! This question brings on the guilt. I used to be good at Spring and Fall Cleaning. Washing windows, walls, wiping down the paneling with Old English Oil.  Who remembers pine paneling? Cleaning furniture, new paper on every shelf and in every drawer in the kitchen. NOT ANY MORE!  I’m lucky to have a house cleaner who does bathrooms and floors every week. So dusting is about all I do. Mr Busy helps me do windows cause the snow and rain are dirty. I will do some yard clean up as soon as it stays warm..

It’s been cold and rainy/snowy this week. I started cleaning out a bed of Lily of the Valley. One warm day, Emmie decided to explore our fenced in backyard. She is good at steps and she was very interested in the new shoots of Lily of the Valley. I took her away from them. Mr. BUSY blocked the way to that part of  the yard, after I read they are poisonous to pets. I have several friends who want them.  Then it snowed and got really cold, so that spring cleaning project is a WIP.

We wouldn’t want anything to happen to this cutie!

Mr. Busy is trying to pitch in because of the extra work of keeping the pup busy, out of trouble and learning new commands. He cooked spaghetti for supper Tuesday night.

I had salad and french bread and wine in the fridge. There were leftovers for Wednesday. I’m a great believer in Cook Once, Eat Twice! LOL

A new wine, Stella Rosa Black!  Very good.

I baked chocolate chip cookies….

the easy kind!

Slow Sunday Stitching. April 25th

Joining other stitchers, enjoying Slow Sunday Stitching ay Kathy’s Quilts soon.

I finally fully finished my Biscornu with Octopuses. I wanted to finish it before the movie Remarkably Bright Creatures shows on Netflix. I was reading that book when I happened to see this chart at Tiny Modernist.

I am pleased with it. Sewing the buttons in the middle, called for a long needle. Luckily I was able to locate my doll making needles. I’ve had them forever. Can you see the price. They cost me 77 cents , probably in the early 1980s.

I have been working on this small stitch, I took advice from other readers and just continue with the border around STITCH.

I’ll work on this one today. Then maybe something with a May theme.

ScrapHappy Saturday April 25th

Sharing at Angela's Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2026.

I am sad to report absolutely no sewing was done in my studio. Unless you count stitching two pieces of bag mesh together to be woven between the rails of our open stairway.

My machine looks just the same as last week.

The crumb blocks are still in limbo!

So I'll share a meme I found on Facebook.

Yesterday this was what we woke up to. But it the best kind of moisture in my opinion.  Wet frozen snow on the lawns and trees, none on the sidewalks and roads.

Yesterday we got Emmie registered as a patient at a local vet clinic and she got her second rounds of "puppy shots".  She didn't wiggle , didn't wimper.  Her first set of shots was given to her before we adopted her. She now weighs 3.6lbs.  So she is growing and checked out all good.

I did get my biscornu stitched together and stuffed.  I still have to put the buttons through the center  but need a longer needle. I have doll making needles somewhere...then it will be done. Hooray!

This small stitch from Primrose Cottage moved along.

So I'm still here, but not productive.

I LIKE Thursday #277

We are continuing with good weather , but there is a forecast for change. Snow on Sunday. Typical for Springtime in Wyoming.

The puppy is keeping us on our toes. I have the nicest friends. Last week, at our Stitching Gathering, there was a brown paper bag marked Doggie Bag. In it were 2 new chew toys and this card.

For National telephone day,  what is your relationship with phones? lol

always have it with you? Check it at intervals or use it mainly for calls? Remember when there was one phone for the family hanging on the wall? Remember party lines? Do you use a phone as a computer even tho the screen is so small? Fave apps on the phone?

I try to have it with me. If it rings I will rush to answer it. Guess that stems from all my years as an office worker. My phone and Mr Busy’s are the only phone we have. No landline anymore. We didn’t have a party line. My parents had a business and the business line often rang in our house.
I don’t like using the phone as a computer because of the small screen. But if I’m not close to my iPad or laptop, I will.
Favorite apps? Contacts, Messenger, Starbucks, Audible and My Chart.

The next read for my Face 2 Face book club is The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. Have you read it?
I’m not a big fan of psychological thrillers, but I hope it’s well written.

Slow Sunday Stitching

Good Morning ! I’m linking up with Kathy’s Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching. Check out what others are doing this Sunday.

We have been very distracted and busy this week. We have a new puppy.

Needless to say, these 2 old people aren’t used to non stop bending over, picking up, taking walk-abouts in the yard. We’ll get through it though. She’s Mr. Busy’s companion but I’m helping.

Today I hope to stuff and finish sewing the last two sides of the biscornu. This photo from April 4th. Still looks the same!

I also started a new stitch from Primrose Cottage.

I needed to shop for the 2 colors of red/coral. DMC 3831 and 3832.

I started in the middle and worked lefty to get started. I added the white for a few rows, then began the letters for STITCH.  As I threaded the needle with # 3831for the letters,  I realized I had used that same color for the border! Dang!  Do I take it out and redo in the slightly lighter red? Or just finish and go forward?

What would you do?  I’ll be continuing til I decide!

ScrapHappy Saturday, April 18

Linking up with Angela this beautiful April morning, at ScrapHappy Saturday

Not a lot of sewing happened this week. Here is the reason why!

Emily has joined our family. She is just a baby, 10 weeks old. We are working on potty training mostly.

I did get squares cut and laid on the small design boards for the last two pink 16-patch stars.  And also cut 16 1.5” squares for star points. This week’s block ( on the right) and on the left, next week’s block.

There were some various sized crumb blocks made also.

I LIKE Thursday. #276

Lots to  like today.

Our week started out last Friday, when our granddaughter found us a dog located in South Dakota. The east side of South Dakota. It’s 483 miles, 6 hrs and 45min one way. Mr Busy fell in love with her photo.

Luckily, our grandson in-law was driving home to Gillette from St Louis and was able to stop and pick her up as soon as the Venmo cleared. We saw her first on Saturday morning. She is 10 weeks old tomorrow and she weighs a bit over 2 lbs. She is a mixed breed, PooChon. Poodle/Bischon

LeeAnna’s conversation starter for today.

what is your favorite daily routine? describe it to us... for example wake early when others are asleep for the peace? Make list?

My routine has changed in the last week. I used to get up early, make coffee, work the Wordle and a Sudoku puzzle, then read as many blogs as I could before starting my day. Now the routine involves letting Miss Emily outside to go potty and playing with her while trying to read blogs and do my puzzles! LOL

Other things to like : our trees are blooming around the town. Mostly flowering crabapples. White and Pink.

A tree in the yard of Primrose Retirement Center across the street from us.

View from my kitchen window.

The wild plums have flowered in the lot next door.

Our son in California has Dogwood blooming.

I love the flowering trees of Spring.

Lunch date yesterday at Taco Bell.

Mango Iced Tea, a crunchy chicken wrap for Mr Busy and a Cantina Chicken Bowl for me! Yum!

I’m embroidering initials on Kona Snow or other white in white for small gifts. I have done an “L”, and it was mailed. There is an “S” done and a “C”. The “E” needs to be finished .

The green and peach polka dots will be sew and flip in the four corners and the backing.

Joining others at Not Afraid of Color  to share the good stuff!
