I LIKE Thursday. 25.2

This post is late. It’s 5:00 pm and we have been back home for about 3 hours. We said good by to Mount Shasta yesterday . 

Then got up at 2AM to drive a hour to the airport in Medford OR. Our flight boarded at 4:30 AM for a o'clock flight. 5 o’clock in the morning !!! 

 Some of the suitcases are unpacked. 

We bought wheeled carry-ons before we came home. Mr Busy felt like a pack horse on our plane trip to California. We used duffles and backpacks. Do you notice the luggage tag? It’s a fabric one with a vinyl window sewed by a friend several years ago. 

Last night our last night at our son’s, we had pan fried chicken breasts, mashed potatoes and white gravy and we watched episode 15 of season 7 of Outlander!. The season finale , episode 16 will be on January 17th. 

We had supper with neighbors on Tuesday night and played several rounds of Rummikub. What a fun time. 

We had a wonderful 5 weeks, but it is good to be home.  Had to take a picture of this bench in the Denver Airport as we walked toward our gate at the far end of B concourse. Made from skis and snowboards. With the Colorado C emblem. So cool!

Our granddaughter picked us up at the airport, we were an hour late arriving. Planes were late due to storms in other parts of the country , blowing snow and icky in Denver. I came home to a sparkling clean house, thanks to her. She vacuumed and dusted, mopped and cleaned so it was all nice to come home to!. I’m one lucky Grandma!.

We are still visiting our son in way far northern California. He’s single and has been for some time, so not much pink going on here! 😉 Think gray,  black, ivory, sage green. Mountains, tall evergreens, Ansel Adams art, fancy bourbon bottles in the bar cabinet,  classic cars in the garage !

I did do a quick counted cross stitch on pink Aida at the end of December. 

The top alphabet is a printed chart , coincidentally on pink. The stitchery looks ivory here.🤷‍♀️ It’s a light pink!

There were puzzles being created. 

Not much pink here either. 

I’ll be home by next Saturday, so maybe a bit of pink will be cut and sewn. But I’ll also be working on Project Quilting, so maybe not. Won’t know what that challenge will be until tomorrow!

I Lke Thursday!

Joining LeeAnna and  friends at Not Afraid of Color. 

We spent a few days in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Monday we rode the 1880 Train. Very fun!

I took some videos, but Blogger says they are too long! 🤷‍♀️

We spent the night with Mr Busy’s brother and SIL, and his sister and her significant other in an AirB&B. In was so restful. 

Turkey and deer visited. 

Then we drove to Rapid City. Mr Busy visited a hobby shop and I stopped at a favorite quilt store. Fabric was on sale. So I purchased. 4 yds of each of these. 

Who can resist a pretty plaid and a monochromatic paisley?

We then drove to my brother and SIL’s home and visited til we went to dinner. We tried a new venue in a familiar location. 

The Park  in Rapid City, located in the shopping center where we met, working at a Piggly Wiggly grocery store back in 1963. 

We had a great time. We are back at home. Today I join the Thursday Stitchers at our library. I’ll continue stitching the sunflower sampler!

I LIKE Thursday ~~~. Thanksgiving Day. 2022

Yesterday,as I was putting the pumpkin pies in the oven and asked "Alexa" to set a timer. She suggested that I ask her to play music. So I asked for Christmas music, because I didn't think there were Fall songs. Then I saw in LeeAnna's email that she googled Fall Songs.  So I asked " Alexa" to play fall songs. I'm not sure what I was listening to, but then I edited my request to "play Autumn Leaves" by Nat King Cole. 

ps:  this is the first time I have ever shared a video from YouTube!  Hope it works!

 She did play this one and some others.  

That conversation made me giggle!!!  I was talking to an inanimate object about songs of the season!!!  So now I know that there are Autumn songs!!!  Who knew??

Wednesday I made cranberry salad and two pumpkin pies. We are all set!

I LIKE Thursday #71

 Checking in with fellow bloggers this Thanksgiving morning. If you are in the US, chances are you are traveling, gathering and/or cooking up a storm! But if you are not, for whatever reason, log on to  Not Afraid of Color  and hostess LeeAnna to join in the listing of good things! 

Mr. Busy and I traveled last Friday through Sunday to spend the holidays with our son in Northern California. We spent two nights in motels and ate from our cooler and a trip into a grocery store for salad and fresh fruit! It never ceases to amaze us the price for a bed and a shower that some motel chains charge. And the discrepancies in $$ per location! Small town Wyoming or Utah, under $100, small town California, twice that! Same motel chain! 

I’m going to bore you with travel photos. 

Three hours south and west of home, still in Wyoming! Muddy Gap near Independence Rock. 

Saturday morning. Notice the bit of snow on the car and the low hanging clouds! Driving wasn’t bad, and although we were warned of some roll over accidents on I-80, we didn’t see any. Phew! 

Looking at Great Salt Lake from a moving vehicle ! Not much to see! 

I think this is part of the Wasatch Mountain range in Utah or maybe Nevada! Pretty though! 

This maple leaf was as big as my hand! It’s still fall in Susanville CA! But the grass was frosty!

September One Monthly Goal and some other challenge goals.

This month is going to be busy!  A new One Monthly Goal, A New Color for RSC18, A new block for Sept-Oct for CiL, a new project for All People Quilts UFO 2018 Challenge, a trip to Phoenix for our son's 50th birthday, our great grandson's 5th birthday, Mr Busy's 74th birthday, Oh My!!!!!!!!

1.  One Monthly Goal for September:   My Thursday Stitchers group has decided to do a traced design exchange for Christmas. So far there are 8 members participating, but I am sure a few more will jump on the bandwagon before too long. So that means I have at least 7 copies to make of this design I downloaded from Jenny of ELEFANTZ's  Craftsy page.

I'll need to make 8 if I want one for myself to stitch in 2019. We will exchange the "traced on fabric" designs in early December. We have a few members that travel for the weeks around the holiday. Our only criteria, is to make sure the design is free, or that you have permission from the designer to share. We do not sell or profit from these stitcheries.
So my September OMG is to get 6 of these traced. Then I will have another month or so to catch up, before December.

2. The new color for RSC18 is Dark Blue or Dark Neutral ( meaning Black or Brown, I think). Not started yet, but I am making Slab/Crumb blocks.  So it will be ongoing for the month.

3. The new CiL block is an Adult I spy block!  Check out Kat's post here!

4. APQ UFO Challenge 2018 for September:  Project #2 was picked. My challenge list #2 is to make 2 wall hangings or small quilts from 2 Christmas panels I purchased several years ago with the intent to gift to my son and DIL and my daughter and SIL.  They, unfortunately ( or fortunately, however you want to look at it) are now both divorced. So I will make them anyway, gift them to the son and daughter! I planned to use the Sidelights pattern shown here, but I have not yet purchased or looked for coordinating fabric.
