ScrapHappy Saturday!

 

Here we are. Almost half way through December, 10 days to Christmas Eve. Yikes, where did 2024 go?

Just because, I’ll show some photos of the  mountain! 

The fog and low cloud cover have been hampering our view. It’s in the 40s but damp and foggy!

Good days for sewing, but when you don’t have a machine, it’s a good baking day. 

An apple and cranberry cake. It’s got pecans too! Two of the three of us would rather not have the pecans, but that didn’t keep us from eating it!!LOL

I am away from my machine, but did explore one possible RSC block for 2025 before I covered up my machine and left. 

The potato chip block has caught my eye. I experimented with some ancient scraps from my overflowing green bin and  my purple scrap bucket was sitting out too! 

I haven’t done the math to decide how many blocks of each color I would need for a decent sized lap quilt,  but I’ll do that soon.

Another sunrise with the mountain in view!  Early when the sky is so pink, and another day with the fog hanging in the valley! 

Saturday our son made orange glazed cranberry bread. It was so yummy. The only help I gave was that I washed and picked over the cranberries, then tossed them in flour just before “scb” folded them into the batter. 

        

Sunday we drove to the Klamath National Forest to cut a real Christmas tree. I think it is a fir, it smells so good. The trees here are so tall and straight . I grew up in the Black Hill National Forest, so I’m familiar with evergreens. These are awesome. Mr. Busy carried the chain saw out of the forest, “scb” carried the tree. My view out the back window of the pickup.⤵️

If you could eat only one type of cookie this holiday season, which cookie would you be eating a lot of?   Date filled cookies are a special holiday cookie for me! And I love them. 

  What would be the ideal way for you to spend Christmas Eve? Ideally, with family, oyster stew, ham sandwiches made with buns, not bread. An assortment of cookies and candy (especially fudge) and gift opening around the tree! Then Candlelight services at church.
