I LIKE Thursday! 2-8-24

I’m joining late today with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color and friends at I Like Thursday! I left the house this morning at 8:30 am headed to stitch with friends at our library. It’s one of the best LIKES of any given week! I was contemplating several other things I was going to do while out. Mail Valentine cards, make a bank deposit, stop for a “foo-foo” coffee ( I LIKE white mocha or something with caramel. I splurge on special coffee only once a week), do I have my project, do I have my lunch!   I forgot to publish my I Like Thursday post!!

So I’m back at home, early because we could only use the room until 11:30! I didn’t need my lunch! Sigh!
I accomplished my errands, also put fuel in my car and got one side of the binding on the quilt I took!

I got home and Mr Busy was putting hinges and knobs on 3 more doors in the kitchen. I LIKE that I have a DIY husband.
Before bottom cabinets:

Top cabinets with new hinges, new black knobs and Old English applied:

Although still old and dark, they are much brighter and I am pleased!

LeeAnna suggested the following prompts for discussion this week!

February 8, 2024

Would you prefer receiving a box of chocolates or flowers on Valentine’s Day?

I used to want flowers, not chocolates. I was always watching my weight!  Now I don’t want either! My birthday is this month, so I just want dinner out and maybe a fancy dessert!

if chocolates/candy, what kind would you like to get? I like chocolate and caramel. Or fudge. do you get them? Nope, he listens!

if flowers, what kind would you like to receive, does it matter that they are delivered by a floral business or brought in by your mate? It doesn’t matter. What kind of flowers, colors, number of them would you love to see?  Never, never, never roses. Maybe tulips or stargazer lilies! White or purple! I don’t care how many. It’s the thought that counts, not how many!

When you’ve been married as long as we have, the candy and flowers, and stuff doesn’t matter. I appreciate time spent, memories made.

Stay Busy and Stay Happy and Healthy and Hopeful!

  1. I wondered if it was your sewing day with friends! Hope you enjoyed the afternoon! Your cabinets look great - you've made me think we need to do some work on ours. Dinner out sounds like a nice way to celebrate Valentine's Day and your birthday!

  2. Your cabinets look beautiful! My husband used to send me flowers, and I'd always fuss at him. Now he doesn't and I miss them - lol! (Not really though, the cats would eat them!) Mom used to send us a box of See's candy - that I do miss.

  3. Adore that quote and so appropriate to me as I age. And the next best thing is having a handy husband! Your cabinets look awesome. Dinner out is the best! I don't want roses either mainly because they are expensive and don't last.

  4. Loved reading this. I relate to so much, the foofoo coffee sounds like my kind too, yes to caramel. I made a sort of caramel/BAILEY"S sauce last night, to go on some bread pudding and oh my gosh... simple and good.
Wishing you a great birthday.. month... of celebrations and good dinner out. Actually anytime I don't have to cook is a good time.
