I LIKE Thursday 1-12-23. Calendars

I’m joining LeeAnna today at I Like Thursday! Her prompt for today is calendars.

For Jan 12 2023
do you use a calendar? Is it digital and do you like it? Is it a wall calendar and who's do you have this year, is it a diary type that sits on your desk next to the computer?

share yours and if you like it, how did you choose that one? Do you have another system to remember things?

I like calendars. I have used printed off the internet, as in “quilting calendar”, unsuccessfully.
I try to use the calendar on my phone, with limited success. It works if I use it and I like that it gives me audible/ visual reminders.
But it all boils down to, I’m an old fashioned lady, heavy on the OLD! So my favorite is a wall calendar hanging in my kitchen where the wall phone used to be.
This is the one I have for 2023.

When I get home, I’ll go through 2022’s calendar and transfer family birthdays and other important events. Like my retirement date, the date we moved into our current home, the date Mr. Busy had his fall that led to his retirement. Then I'll keep current with dental and dr appts,  and other special events. Maybe a movie date!!

I also carry a small purse datebook, but find I am using my phone more often now, so I’m progressing! This will probably be my last year of carrying a purse datebook, I'll switch to a small notebook!

And lastly I have a journal in calendar form. This I use for jotting down blogging ideas, keeping track of RSC colors and Table Scraps Challenge prompts, ideas for I LIKE Thursday! And other sort of important things I want to keep track of.

All that being said, I still feel somewhat disorganized and find myself making notes on my phone, the wall calendar and the journal!  Redundancy at it's finest!

I don't have very many other likes this week. I am anxious to be home, but sad to leave our son. We have so enjoyed our visit. I am "stewing" over when to go. The weather and road conditions are ever changing.

We are still watching some regular CBS shows that we like. Fire Country, Blue Blues, East New York, the FBIs, and NCIS and Chicago Wednesday dramas. We have to stream most of them.

Tulsa King is done and we have just 2 episodes of Andor left.  Several seasons of SUITS  are left, to carry us through and back to Wyoming.

I am still baking. Peanut Butter cookies last Saturday, and Gingerbread Cake today.  Both recipes came from Preppy Kitchen.

We've been eating well. Chicken Enchiladas, grilled burgers, Spaghetti, Kielbasa Potato Bake.  When I get home a counting calories diet is in order.

Stay Busy and Stay Happy and Healthy and Hopeful!

  1. I was just perusing wall calendars on Amazon last night. I would do well with your baking and cooking - I love all those things you mentioned!

  2. The end of a long trip like yours is always bittersweet - it will be good to be home, but you miss the good times. Glad you've had such a wonderful time! Something to make you laugh - we STILL have a wall phone! 🤣

  3. Hi Judy! How far of a drive is it from your son's house to home? I hope you are able to travel back safely and without weather issues. I was in a similar situation as you with calendars. I really miss my journal one that I used to write in all the time. I found I didn't have time for it and now I guess I write the blog instead. Your son is going to miss you guys terribly - both your presence and your cooking. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
