I LIKE Thursday # 268

  

Shared from Sweatpants and Coffee. - not recently. 

It feels like Spring. I know I should not be optimistic.  But I even have tulips coming up. I haven’t walked to the backyard to get a photo, but I will. 

At Stitching Group we had the door open all day. It was wonderful. Here are two projects that were shown. 

 

A counted cross stitch project that I finally Fully Finished.  And a wool appliqué project that Donna says is a FO. A found object in the closet. She is doing a wonderful job. There were more, but I didn’t get photos. My bad!

LeeAnna asked about Valentines exchanged in elementary school. I’m pretty sure that yes we did. But I remember more helping my own kids decorate shoeboxes into Valentine Mailboxes. Red and pink with cut out hearts. We did Valentine Parties. As Room Mother, I made sure there were cupcakes, conversation hearts in tiny baskets.  All kinds of fun. ❤️🧁

My youngest granddaughter had a tendon repaired in her right thumb today. She is home and doing well.I LIKE that. 

Here is my February buffet decorated:

It’s confusing, but the small heart topper is on top of two side by side while placemats. Otherwise it looks too small. The candle in the warmer is peppermint, the tall bottle is ChocoVine. A blend of red wine and Dutch chocolate. I haven’t tried it yet. It was a gift from my friend at Christmas. She puts it in her  coffee!

I LIKE Thursday

Again, not a photo heavy post. 

Sometimes I get so into a zone I forget about photos. I’m trying to be better about that! 

Below is a random photo. I was scrolling through Instagram and came across Jodi Nelson’s page. Jodi is one of the first Crafty, Quilting Bloggers I found way back when. Now she mostly posts on IG as #pleasanthome. Anyway she had a video about changing out your sewing machine needles. She noted that it helps to have a cute container. She has a vintage glass jar. I use a recycled pill bottle, but at least mine has a cute sticker. I got it from a Quilt Retreat several years ago. It says To protect fingers and toes and to prevent tears, put broken needles and bent pins here. Our retreat had a Glamping Theme, hence the little pink camper picture. 

Do you have a special container for broken, used needles and bent pins?

Last Thursday evening my 10 year old great grandson sent me a photo on messenger.

It said, Look Gramma a blood moon! 

I tried to take a photo to send back to him. Mine wasn’t nearly as good as his. I think he has a better iPhone than I do! 😳

And I finished the stitching on the snowman for January at Kathy Schmitz’s Woven Wreaths SAL. The blue and white needle minder matches pretty well! It says, “But First, COFFEE”! I agree!

what qualities do you look for/love in a friend?  We meet a lot of people but only a few become great friends... think about what you look for in a friend...

It seems to me that I usually don’t go looking for a friend. They just happen . But that being said, I think “like interests” are a factors. And maybe “ like values “! I do have lots of friends that have different political views than mine, but we can still be friends because we share interests and values. 

What do you look for in a mate? What qualities can you mention that you believe to be good for a mate 

In a mate, for me, it started out with a physical attraction! Then he was kind, helpful, made me feel safe. He’s a good man. We like to do things together and our value systems are similar. Do we disagree? Sometimes, but not often. ❤️ This year, June , we celebrate 60 years! I guess it worked!

To -Do Tuesday! March……

May go out like a lion! The oks saying may hold true. I noted in my journal that the 1st of March was unseasonably mild. Now they are predicting cold and maybe even snow for this afternoon and tomorrow! Hope they are wrong! 

Today is To-Do Tuesday! Let’s see how I did and then check out others at Texas Quilt Gal! Thanks Linda for keeping us on track!

March 22- March 28

1. Finish TSC  and post to The Joyful Quilter ✅

2. Start quilting in Chunky Churn Dash for H2H donation! ✅

The denim blue thread is visible in some blocks more than others! 

So many different prints I just kept the color the same throughout!

After picking out the first two rows of quilting, I cut a new piece of batting. It’s Warm 100 and it has a scrim. The package states you can quilt it 10” apart. My lines are no more than 6”, so it should be good. So I’m back on track “ i

3. Keep working on Growing Up Odd blocks! ✅ I got two blocks done and moved the blocks into my sewing room’s design wall. 

My brother and SIL are coming for an overnight visit, so I was neatening up! I need 5 more blocks! There will be sashing between the blocks also. 

And tasks for next week…

March 29 - April 4

1. Get a start on pink! Happy Blocks and  ZigZag blocks! 

2. Trim and attach binding to Chunky Churn Dash! 

3. Stitch on August’s Year in the Garden. 

4. Make some Bow Blocks for Melva’s “Pieces in the Garden” and download Block 3 from her site! 

That should keep  me busy. Of course there are other non sewing related tasks. Like laundry and cooking. It may get nice enough to start on our lawn clean-up. And I need to get a birthday card in the mail to our grandson-in-law.

To-Do Tuesday #78

 

Another Tuesday another To-Do list! I'm joining Linda and friends to share what I did last week and what I hope to get done this week. Come join us.  Linda is at Texas Quilt Gal. 

Last weeks list:

Feb 8 - Feb 14th.

1. Launder and mount Santa Baker. I'll need Mr Busy's help for this one. 

1/2 done. I couldn’t lace the fabric around the mounting board. I had to wait for mounting tape to arrive from Amazon.  Hobby Lobby did not have it, nor did JoAnns. It arrived Monday evening at 5:30. But it was Valentine’s Day, so there was dinner and a movie and a special dessert! I’ll get it done this afternoon. 

2. Continue working on TSC for February. Aqua and Improv.  Take photos for post at the end of the month. 

✅ I’m in the quilting stage. The post will be done soon. 

3. Make balance of HST in red and aqua for the first two rows of Zig Zag Quilt.

✅ The aqua HST are joined into a row. The red ones are 6 blocks of 4, ready to be joined together. 

4. Start a new slow stitching project. ✅ 

It’s a counted cross stitch Teapot in the corner of a bread cloth. Why? Because it was all in my stash. Except for DMC 3756, needed for 8 stitches. Thank goodness my friend Connie had a skein of that color and gave me 12 inches. Gotta love friends who share your hobby.

To-Do for Feb 15th- Feb 21st:

1. Continue on Table Scraps Challenge. Decide on binding.

2. Make 2 more string blocks in Aqua.

3. Mail CiL blocks to Kat.

4. Find or  construct a backing for a small donation quilt.

To-Do Tuesday #72

 Welcome list makers!  Do you make New Year's Resolutions?  I don't usually and this year is no exception. I'll just continue with To-Do Tuesdays and keep checking items off the lists.  This was not a very good "checking it off" week, but thanks to Linda at Texas Quilt Gal, I have this place to be accountable.

1. Just Keep On Keeping On with the above projects #2 and #3.

#3: Keep working on felt ornaments! 👎

 I put the Christmas ornaments away. They will be an OMG in 2022!

2.  Help Mr Busy with the puzzle if he continues.  Its a tough one!  👎

Mr. Busy hurt his knee. No bending and sitting at a puzzle board! 

I don’t have a list for next week Jan 4 th - Jan 10th. I can barely stay focused on any one thing. I’ll try to stitch on the Santa Baker counted cross stitch.  I’m posting this at Texas Quilt Gal’s To-Do Tuesday and I’ll check in with all other contributors and see other lists completed!
