One Monthly Goal Link-up for December 2022

I am away from my sewing machine for the whole month of December.  That means my OMG will be handwork. I want to finish the stitching on this project.

I am on the downhill side. I won't have a Fully Finished Stitch, because I'm not positive how I want to finish it. If I can find the perfect frame, I envision a wall decor.

One Monthly Goal November Finish Link Up

In early November, I wrote:

My goal for November is to get it quilted by the time we leave for Holidays in California. Then I will take it with me in the car and have it bound by the end of November.

I did get it quilted before we got in the car on the 19th.  The binding was attached and clipped all around. Using the tiny pincushion from Turid.  It's the perfect travel size.

The stripe looks good from the back too!

And today, the 23rd of November, it is done and on our son's table. It won't stay in California. It's too feminine for him. I need to make him a square or round table topper in more masculine colors. With pine trees or mountains.

Striped binding all sewn down on the back, mitered corners, every one!

November 2022. One Monthly Goal

I won this charm pack back in September from Linda at Texas Quilt Gal. My post about it is here.
My goal for November is to  get it quilted by the time we leave for Holidays in California. Then I will  take it with me in the car and have it bound by the end of November

The fabric is I Believe in Angels by Bunny Hill Designs for Moda!  I like the aquas and the paler greens
Florals, checks, polka dots and snowmen angels, candy canes and bells, oh my!! What's not to like?

The pattern is Little Charmers II called Scrappy Stars.....not very original but it describes it well!

October One Monthly Goal

Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal October Link-up

My goal for October is two-fold.
First to finish Boo Crew by the 15th of October.

This is current, as of 10-4-22!

Secondly to get a good start on FQS Christmas Mystery Stitch Along!

I did decide on this piece of long-hoarded 14 count Aida from my stash. I measured carefully and I’m pretty sure the design will fit into the blank center of this special printed fabric. One stitch has been taken as a starting point!

Onward toward my OMG! Chapter 1,2 & 3 : The Final Chapter

OMG. September   Chapter 1, 2 & 3

I want to clean out this tote of donated scraps and strings!

So far:   September 1 through September 7th.

2 Gold, 1 Green, 2 Brown, 4 Black, 2 Beige or neutral, 1 Aqua, and 3 Dark Red = 16  15. 7.5” blocks

Plus 4 multi colored with consistent cream center diagonal. Also 7.5” blocks.

A total of   19 in one week!  Corrected!

Chapter 2…
September 8 through 15th!

37   blocks all with cream diagonals!    ⤴️.
56   That’s enough for a quilt!   Yes, but JUDY , your count is wrong! Only 4 of the previous 19 have cream center strips, so you really only have 41!

And my tote still isn’t empty! ⤵️ But closer ! I have been tossing squares and triangles and too short strings in color based bins.

I’m getting there. The month is half gone!

Chapter 3.  9-23-22

Ta-da! Here is the tote. It’s finally EMPTY,

I have sewed 23 more string blocks.

For a total of  64.  I  want to do 7X8 so I need 56.  49 by 56, then a border. I'm happy.

The leftovers were sorted into color piles. They are now in zip bags in the green bin. Only the white and neutral strips and aqua strips are in separate containers. I will continue to sew monochromatic string blocks to add to ones in my stash. I need to cut  more telephone books!

As I was sewing, lots of the strips and pieces were “thready”. So I neatened them up. Any strip, that when de-threaded and straightened, was less than 1 inch wide was tossed in my “yarn” basket.

I sew these short end to short end and will crochet another throw rug.

I’m sharing this continuing post at Finished or Not Finished Friday!

And today is 9-25-22...... SEPTEMBER OMG FINISH LINK UP is live! I'm linking up even as I continue to make string blocks and crumb blocks to use up the color sorted strings!

OMG September Link Up

My One Monthly Goal for September is to empty this tote of donated  scraps.

It’s been in my space for two years and it’s time for it to be gone! So I will sew string blocks, monochromatic if possible. Then crumb blocks with the leftovers. Some pieces are big enough to go into a scrap bag of the appropriate color.  For example……That piece of black and white gingham will go into the dark scrap basket!

I’ll keep a running total of the blocks that this tote produces!

OMG August Finish

My goal was to get POP STAR put together and get a backing ready. It looked like this on August 2nd.

Here it is all ready to go to the quilter. She has put me on her list and will call me when she is ready for it. The baby is due in late October. So I have some time. I'll get the binding made while I wait.!

Batting, backing with ruby rosebuds, and the quilt top ready for the quilter!

August One Monthly Goal

It’s August!   And I’m ready to set a goal!  I’ll be linking this post to Patty’s OMG Link Up over at Elm Street Quilts.

Pieces are cut for my version of POP STAR. Pattern by Sandra Walker of mmmquilts.com.  I selected fabric in April, then let it sit in the basket with some color options for the middle star. I need two baby quilts before fall. Both babies are girls!

I finally contacted the grandmother of one of the babies and inquired about nursery colors. The only thing she could tell me was the crib sheets are greenish leaves and ferns! Well, ok! So I cut these!

Then we had company. No sewing was done! Now our granddaughter is back in Vermont. I need to get busy!

My goal is to get these pieces to a quilt top/flimsy and get a backing constructed! If I get it to the quilter, all the better.

OMG Finish Link up! July 25!

My One Monthly Goal/ OMG for July was to make ten more green/ neutral HSTs from the May RSC color of the month, and sew them into a zigzag row . In addition I needed to make 24 HSTS in purple/neutral  for July and get them together for the purple zigzag row.

Here is the green row

And the purple row!

May OMG Finish

My OMG for May was to get Hollow Nines trimmed, the binding constructed and then machine attached to it. I set my goal HERE

It’s all done now! The binding is attached, I had just enough to piece together the binding in the same green as the border.   And I have finished hand stitching it down. When it has a forever home, I’ll add a label!

Finished or Not Finished Friday

Linking up with Alycia's Finished or Not Finished Friday! I finally have a finish on this RSC project stated in 2020!
I saw the block at The Academic Quilter in 2019. You can see her two versions at this link. She calls it Circle of Squares. I knew I had so many scraps that I could do this one. Mari set hers so wonderfully! I wasn’t as successful so went with a diagonal rainbow sort of setting. The wide green border was added to bring it up to a decent size. And I had enough, just barely,  to bind it too! I like it a lot! Now I need to wash and dry it, so it ready to be given away.

The backing is a piece picked up at JoAnn’s! Now that I look again, I think one of Mari’s quilts used a fabric very similar in her settings. You can take a peek at her header on her blog!
It was quilted by a friend who is a novice but a fantastic quilter. It's hard to see, but it's a daisy design. Soft curves all over this very "square" quilt . So pretty.

Apologies on the indoor photo! It’s drizzling and foggy even at 3:30pm. So it is what it is!
