2025~~SAHRR FINISHED PARADE

Today is the day for the SAHRR Parade. I’m linking up at Quilting Gail.

This is how my project (just the top) finished.

I used some red fabric for the backing.

It’s called Autumn’s Charm, but it looks Christmas-y to me.

As I was making the back I noticed that the white portions of the salvage were pinkish. I did remember prewashing that piece. But decided to stay stitch around the edges and wash it again when I washed my dresser topper.

I did that yesterday. I used 2 Color Catchers but did not put it in the dryer.

The color catchers after washing. Glad I decided to do that.

This is the dresser topper just out of the washer! No pink! All good!.
Last night I cut a piece of Hobbs batting, 48 X 48 and this morning when I get back from the Rec Center, I’ll press the backing and get it ready to deliver to my quilter. Her husband had knee replacement surgery, so she took a short break from her long arm.

This is my 3rd time participating in SAHRR and I am most pleased with the outcome. My success stems, I think, from having enough of consistent background fabric and some good coordination of the other fabric. Scrappy is not easy to do on these projects.

Can’t wait til next time. Thank you to Gail and to Kathleen, Anja, Wendy, Brenda, and Emily for this year’s SAHRR.

November OMG Link Up post

Next week, Tuesday through Thursday one of my sewing groups is having a mini retreat. We will sew at our Library, but go home every evening! Lots of us like this arrangement. Some have partner, or grandchildren or pet responsibilities.

I have had this kit in my stash for over a year. I decided that I needed a new, not UFO project. My sewing mojo has been lacking in the recent weeks. Maybe this will kickstart my creativity again.

My goal is to cut, and piece this top. It’s only 28”x28”, so it is doable. And the kit included fabric for backing and binding! A real plus!

I've started some of the cutting, but I didn't start til yesterday, 11-2-23. So I'm sure it still counts for November OMG.

I Like Thursday #38

I’m joining friends over at Not Afraid of Color to share good things this Thursday.

Entertainment

Mr Busy and I finished this fun puzzle! It was mostly his doing, but I placed some pieces and he let me put in the last 15!

We’ve started another, but it not going as well!

We have been watching Season 2 of For All Mankind. Have you seen it?

And also, This Is Us, Chicago Wednesday, on prime time tv and now Tehran, also on AppleTV+.

Food.

I baked cookies. A recipe from a friend. White Chocolate Cran-pecan cookies. They are so good. And the Cookie Monster, a.k.a. Mr. Busy has been enjoying them! That is why I bake them.

We had ham, roasted sweet potatoes, Harvard beets and Watergate salad for Easter. It was just the two of us!

I did hang some April/ Easter wall decor.

The wrinkles are showing on this one. Guess I should have given it a good press before I hung it up!
It's a Kathy Schmitz design, I have one for every month.

This is a Patchabilities pattern. I used my own fabric. Some I have bought as kits, others just patterns.

And another bit of good news...The Sewing Center called last night at supper time. My Bernina is done. So now we need to pick a day and drive over and get it. Hooray!
