as a youngster or teen, did you get a new dress, hat or shoes for Easter? go to church or have big family gatherings? Do you mark the holiday now in some way?
Always a new dress, hat and white shoes. Gloves sometimes. Although in South Dakota, we often had to don our parkas and slip new shoes into overshoes. I wish I could find photos, we were quite the stylish bunch.

Nowadays are different. I still look at ‘Easter’ dresses in magazines and on line. But don’t buy. I may cook a ham, make my mom’s orange jello salad, and Angel Food cake or Strawberry Shortcake. Maybe some asparagus, which my mom never fixed. We’ll see.
I didn’t get much sewing done this week. Spent most of my time doing laundry and straightening my sewing room. I did decide on a way to fully finish the Spring Stamp Sampler From Melisa at Pinker n Punkin that I finished stitching in 2023. I’ve been looking for the correct sized frame, but haven’t been unsuccessful. There will be this fabric and lace.
It will be a small wall hanging. Fingers crossed.
Got some happy mail this week. Can you guess where they came from?
We’ve finished watching Reacher, Season 3.
And are staying caught up on 1923, though the finale is this Sunday!

We've had many Easters with snow here, too! I had to get to church early one year when I was playing in the bell choir and there was a blizzard. No sunrise for the service that year! Your Spring sampler is so sweet - I'll be watching for some pointers from how you finish it for my winter one.
ReplyDeleteI like your sampler. We just finished Reacher, too. I liked the first season best. I don't know how they're going to wrap up 1923 in one episode!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought about that orange Jello salad for a long time, I may have to make Mom's old recipe! Your sampler is really cute, it will look great as a wall hanging.
ReplyDeleteYour Spring Sampler is lovely and finished just in time for spring too. Yes, we enjoyed the same things for Easter, new outfits and lots of time in church with a big ham meal with all the trimmings afterwards. We are enjoying 1923 very much too!
