To-Do Tuesday #73

 

Happy To-Do Tuesday!  Last week I did not share a list! I was having a hard time staying with any one project. I knew we would be telling our son goodbye in the coming week and I was not looking forward to that! I learned our  youngest granddaughter (she’s 28), tested positive for Covid. Our daughter has been having some blood pressure issues, spikes, then trips to the ER with no definitive diagnosis. The anniversary of my sister’s death was looming and then our 8 yo great grandson tested positive. So, no goals were set. 

I got the red X outline finished and started the outlining backstitch on Santa Baker. This photo shows the red x's almost done. I don't have a photo of the outlining, but trust me  please. My stitchery is in the car and I am just not going down to the car from the hotel room to get a photo. I'll share it on I LIKE Thursday at Not Afraid of Color, if we are home. 

We are on our way home. Monday we made it from our son's home in northern California to Winnemucca NV .  We got a motel room and will hopefully get to Wyoming on Tuesday. We should be home by Wednesday. 

My list for. January 11- January 17

1. Laundry and unpack

2. Continue backstitching the detail on Santa Baker

3. Turn on my sewing machine and sew at least 1 Red string block and 1 Red Happy Block.

I LIKE Thursday #77

 Last week I said I wasn’t going to post this week! I was feeling “off”. But after reading all your comments on my Tuesday post and reading some other posts at Not Afraid of Color I decided to do a small post.

Because how can you not like that your DH accompanies you to the grocery store and picks up 

 for the next morning. I know they are his favorites, but I like a treat now and then too!

We finished watching Outlander, Season 5. DS added a trial period of Starz to his app lineup, just so we could watch! Now, that’s a definite “like”! 

Yesterday, after a stressful day at his desk, it was nice enough for a walk at 4:00. DS invited me to go with him!    Also a like!

January 2022 One Monthly Goal

 

I wasn’t going to “Officially Commit” to a January goal. I am still away from my machine and most of my UFOS. But….I do have that 20+ year counted cross stitch Santa with me. I was working on it, then put it down to finish December Table Scraps. 

I’m in a funk. But maybe having this OMG will help keep me occupied. 

This is where I finished on Dec 20th. 

My goal is to finish the major cross stitches, complete the red X border and get the black outline stitching done.

To-Do Tuesday #72

 Welcome list makers!  Do you make New Year's Resolutions?  I don't usually and this year is no exception. I'll just continue with To-Do Tuesdays and keep checking items off the lists.  This was not a very good "checking it off" week, but thanks to Linda at Texas Quilt Gal, I have this place to be accountable.

Mr. Busy hurt his knee. No bending and sitting at a puzzle board! 

I don’t have a list for next week Jan 4 th - Jan 10th. I can barely stay focused on any one thing. I’ll try to stitch on the Santa Baker counted cross stitch.  I’m posting this at Texas Quilt Gal’s To-Do Tuesday and I’ll check in with all other contributors and see other lists completed!

                  2021 In Review!!

I participated in several challenges. I made some baby quilts. I donated some quilts made just in 2021 and one UFO from 2020. I don't watch or keep track of the stats on my blog. I started this blog as a way to keep tract of the projects I did. Then of course it evolved in to a way to keep in touch with other quilters, needlecrafters and readers.

I had a plan!  

We are away from home, away from a sewing machine. I thought these mug rugs would be fun to do and have ready for  Spring!     

 

I did not do them from wool or felt. These are regular scraps of quilting cotton on some black duck that has resided in my stash for a long time! 

I watched the video at Shabby Fabrics and downloaded the free layout diagram. I chose the fabric scraps and fused them to the black circles. Next came embellishments. A whip stitch, a chain stitch, some French knots in the center of the echinacea flower. I actually use colonial knots, they are easier for me and don’t seem to “lean over”

I like them with the orange coffee mug! 

These were fun! I don’t know why they were UFOS for so long! I will do another set soon!
